TLDR: I need to chose a rifle, how do you figure out which one?

I only have a glock 19 currently. I feel like with everything going on it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and buy a rifle. The problem is I like them all. I love AKs, I love ARs, I love FALs, I love M14s, I love SCARs

How do I narrow down what I want? How did you guys chose your first rifle

There are just too many options. I'd like to buy something quality as well

I only have the money to really buy one rifle right now, but I have no problems paying for quality

I'd love to buy an MDR but they're not coming out until the end of this year...supposedly

Whichever gives you the biggest hard on. I'd suggest an intermediate cartridge though.

I love the aesthetics of the AK, but I feel like the AR15s modularity is fantastic
>>
>>30326268
Glock 19 is a good start, so you went right on that one.

Stay with an intermediate cartridge. AR or AK are both good. Don't get a .308 unless you like heat stroke.

>AR or AK are both good
But which one, that's the problem I'm having. Eventually I'll own both but I don't know which would be better to get now
>>
>>30326401
Buy an AK
Put an AR stock adapter on it
Get a tacticooled handguard and sidemount
Cry when it jams because it got a little mud on it
>>
>>30326536
AR-15. AK-47 is a nice rifle to have, but the AR should serve most of your needs.
>>
>>30326536
If you live in the US ars are really just the better option. You get an abundance of spare parts anywhere you look, cheap as shit magazines, ammo out the ass. I'm a huge fan of the ak-74, but I'm not going to try and pretend an ar isn't a better buy if you don't have one.
>>
>>30326268
Are you in the US? If so, then AR-15 all the way. Otherwise, AK.

That is of course if you can only have one or the other. I have both, and enjoy both. But if I had to choose, it'd be the one I'd be more likely to source parts/ammo/accessories for domestically -- the AR.

Zenith everything

That's what I was thinking but it seems that the AK market is opening up quite a bit. Although I can't find definitive answers on what the best AK builders are.
ARs on the other hand have an abundance of manufactures and I could build one myself if I wanted to
>>
>>30326268
There's just something about AKs with so much unnecessary shit that just gets me diamonds
>>
ARs are notoriously jammotics
>>

I preordered an MDR in January, and my current shipdate has been postponed until September 23. Who knows if it'll ever come out...

I know people will try to argue that arsenal is shit, paint flakes off but arsenals are generally pretty decent. Buy once cry once.
For the same price as arsenals, you can (not) find Definitive Arms' AKs which are phenomenal, but they only restock like once a year and sell out instantly, so good luck with that.
Unfortunately, the AK market is opening up, but it's mostly just for the AKM/47. There's still no real option for cheap quality ak-74 mags anymore like there was a few years ago. You'll be looking at $30-$45 generally for a high quality 5.45 magazine now-a-days.

AK is aesthetic as fuck. i bought one and sold it because it was a shit, bought another and sold it because it was a shit. the second AK i sold was because i built an AR and realized how shit it was.

the AR is lighter, more ergonomic, more modular, low recoil. on every single aspect it is king of rifles.

the AK was designed by a brain damaged, malnourished russian peasant and the AR was designed by an aerospace engineer. ill say the AK has a cool factor and looks more aesthetically pleasing but the AR is better on every single other aspect

If you want all the rifles, inevitably you will have to buy all the rifles before you can be satisfied. I know this because I'm like you.

First, I bought an M1A. I loved it. Then I bought an AK, because I needed one. Then I bought an AUG, then a K31. I think a PTR91 is up next, and then I might try my hands at building an AR-15.

I would personally recommend starting with an AK, because they're easy to learn, clean, etc. Once you get more familiar with what you want out of a rifle/how rifles work, you should try building an AR to suit your preferred purpose. If you start with an AR, I feel like you'll inevitably want to upgrade, rendering your first AR obsolete (unless you want a beater or a truck gun, I guess). Better to have an AK and an AR.

Where do I buy a zenit dustcover? They're sold out everywhere.

Remember that you also have to have the B10M or B30 lower handguard to mount it.
