Lightning links? Yeah, they've been around for a while.

That specific 3D printer file/spec setup? No idea. It'd probably be easier just to make it by hand with some machining tools.

FYI, 3D printing one of these wouldn't be of any use for anything but an example model. You'd need to make it out of metal for it to be useful in any way, shape, or form.

But how exactly do they work? And how would I make them? Cutting shapes into metal like that and fitting them together?
>>
>>30322098
Yes, lightning links are real.

it's also a free ticket to getting your dog shot if you make one without being an SOT FFL with intent to demonstrate to a police agency or company.

Yeah. Once you make it though you have to do to your county sheriff and have him etch the county's name on it to make it fully legal. They're really busy so make sure to accurately describe what it is and what it's for.

It does something wonky with the sear and makes your gun FA only.

And yes, you'd have to the metal into those two shapes and fit them together. Ideally someone would make a die and just stamp them out, but for a one-off you're better off just cutting it on a mill or with hand tools.

Thanks.

For educational purposes only, would this work for any modern gun?
>>
>>30322239
It works for any AR that's cut for it. IIRC during the 90s Colt made some of their guns incapable of accepting one normally. don't know if any other company did so.

The longer part of the LL is hooked on the disconnector above the trigger, the rearmost part of the longer part goes underneath the rear takedown pin and the short piece comes up from the long part behind the takedown pin, so the takedown piece is like a pivot point.

When you pull the trigger, the gun fires and the bcg goes back, cocking the hammer. At that point the disconnector is holding the hammer down. If you continue to hold the trigger, the bcg will return to battery and the rearmost part of the bcg will hit that short part of the lightning link and pull the long piece back, unhooking the disconnector from the hammer and allowing the hammer to fall on the firing pin.

It will work with any ar that's lower is open between the safety and rear takedown pin (Colt put some sort of block or sear bridge in their lowers). You also need a bcg that is cut in a specific way, I think it's an sp1 cut or maybe sl1 cut.
