Can any anons give me the run down on West Germans Sigs and how they stack up to modern variants, specifically the P226?

I'm currently selling a complete 14.5" BCM upper with 9" DD rail and FDE MBUS irons and I've received an offer for pic related (will post the others the guy sent me below). I had the upper listed for $750 and wanted to get at least $700 for it, so do you anons think that's a fair trade or no? I have a Sig Sauer P226 Mk25 and I love it, so I wouldn't be opposed to adding another P226 to my collection as long as they're good quality.

tl;dr Are West German Sigs equal to or better than modern versions?

I had one. Didn't like it. Sold it for 600 with 2 mags and no box.

Any specific reason? Also have you shot a modern P226 to compare it to?

But I currently own one. They're "nicer" in terms of machining if you're really splitting hairs in ways that you would not notice unless you were a Sig 226 owner for a few years.

They're stamped slides, the coatings can be coming off, my gun can get rust spots if I don't care for it.

They shoot amazing, but honestly if you get a good 226 theres not really much you'd miss except for the cool factor.

I bought it thinking it'd be an investment for around $700 and there isn't really much to brag about other than it being what it is.

Get the cash, as a shooter it's not really that much better over a standard 226.

Thanks for the insight; I own a mk25 like I said in my OP that I got for $700 a while back so if the West German isn't anything to write home about I'll probably pass on the offer.

its "cool" but I think they've lost their "must-have" status a few years ago

There are things that the Exeter factory is good at producing, those things are the P series pistolas and thats about it.

Sig 55x rifles and 1911's are dogshit, but the rest is breddy good. Their 716 was really impressive in person

Nah I just think I am a revolver fag. As semis go it was okay but even it wasn't enough to convert me. And it wasn't shot out; in fact the rails were still dark flat black.

Just not my thing. The only semi I really enjoy is my Jericho.

If you want a Sig with great quality that will shoot much better than your mk25, get a X-series. You might want to sell a kidney or two first.

Not by much but some people think the internal extractor is better than the newer long ones. They do actually have some problems with rusting but it shouldn't happen if you care for your gun. If you're going to go through with getting the 226, just inspect the frame rails to see if it's been heavily used or not.

Ok, the one thing Sig fan-boys aren't going to admit to: The finish from Sig sucks ass. I edc'd a 229 for a long time and it was trashed. The machining is often times a lot better, and older Sigs are the way to go. Sig has split their production WAY too much and has lacked in quality control for the past 2 years.

Other than the Legion series they're now pushing their overall production quality is dropping off. So, I would say good move if you get it.

Yeah, and if you want something better than a Springfield Operator 1911, just go out and get a Wilson Combat or Nighthawk Custom or a Damascus steel slide and lower frame or just get a small loan of a million dollars...

How are people this retarded?

despite the percived superiority of west german sigs its worth 400-500 max
