If so, maybe. a very feable maybe. depends upon the internals and how much time/effort youre willing to put in. I'd legit buy it off you to try if I could.

are you in the US?

no way man, my friend shows me the stuff he finds in US with his metal detector.

golden jewely with precious gems, silver coins, christ my jaw dropped when he showed me his collection

I never find any gold or expensive jewelry here
>>
Im restoring a far more rusted out mauser 95 currently.
you have three options
1.look into selling it as junk to a collector (dumb)
2. restore it carefully
3.get it working knowing its allready fugly and theres little you can do to make it worse.

invest in some 3in1 oil, some kind of light rust removing solution, 0000 steel wool and some copper wool, some copper/brass/not steel brushes, and some rags.
then you spend a few weeks soaking and scrubbing while listening to ww2 marches.

if you want, I know theres a kommando with a youtube channel here that can explain how to set up an electrolysis machine with a car battery and a chunk of plate steel i think.
I went the brush route since I dont have an extra car battery, chunk of plate, or tub big enough to lay a mauser flat in.
>>
>>30318440
Very interesting find anon. At the very worst, collectors and museums would be interested if you clean all that stuff well enough. Which country do you come from if I may ask ?

>>
>>30318457
Huh, not op but I finished with a Mauser 92 myself.
Sure it was surface rust but yeah, it's going to not going to look pretty after you are done restoring it.

I used 0000 steel wool, but the synthetic and a water based rust remover myself.
The steel wool was for the last bit of removal, I spent the whole day with q-tips and the rust remover, then oiled everything the remover touched using the wool, like you said, very fucking lightly.

most of the US is empty and you will find jack shit.
every field in europe has 3-5000 years worth of shit to find. Romans, tribal shot, dark ages, medieval ages, napolionic, ww1, ww2, etc.
We have non metalic indian shit, and beer cans. If you live on the east coast/south you can find civil war shit and moonshiner junk. but otherwise its all beer cans and lawn chairs from the 70's.

Sandblast it and paint it to look like a /mlp/ gun.
>>
>>30318508
how is that a problem? if he is smart enough to use a metal detector and dig a hole in teh ground he can use electrolysis. it's infinitely easier than just scrubbing, and if you can plug a cell charger in the wall you are halfway there

>>30318373
Very salvgeable.

Honestly looks pretty good, considering.

You should literally bathe it in oil to get all the crap off to start with.

Then start disassembling it down it its basic parts.

Use electrolysis to help remove the rust on each part once you have it broken down.
>>
>>30318582
It probably is loaded, I doubt it would fire though the powder should be fairly inactivated after all this time.

Still filling it with WD40 for a day might do some good from a safety aspect.

OP under no circumstances should you point the gun at someone or yourself, the gun is in surprisingly good condition, its unlikely but possible it could fire.

I would estimate that there is about 99% probability that the ammo would not work anyway anymore, even if it would have been properly stored instead of this.

Ammo box marking indicate that it has Sinoxid-primers, which were all the rage in 1930's. They were one of the first (if not the first?) commercially successful non-corrosive primers, but also usually go dud after not so many decades.

It'll probably never shoot again (can you even buy repair parts for Mausers?), but you could run it through electrolysis and buy new grips to restore it and make it look pretty again. It'll be a lot of work though.
>>
>>30318373
Clean it up and have a gunsmith check for fractures or seriously deep pitting.

if after it's cleaned a bit and the internals still work. it'll probably shoot.

>>
>>30318373
>>30318392
Pitting looks superficial on the outside, but I'd check the bore to see how bad it is.

An ultrasonic bath in a weak acid can probably remove the rust (along with the finish though).

If anything inside is seized, you could try penetrating oil. If it can be taken apart, it might be salvageable (probably not as a shooter though).

Ideally, have a competent gunsmith (not an "I built my own AR so I'm a gunsmith" gunsmith) go over it and let you know if /what can be done.

It'll take quite a bit of work to get it looking good and to get the action moving properly (not necessarily working or being safe to fire).

Ammo's toast though.
>>

>>
Holy shit you people are autists. Have none of you ever fixed up a rusty gun before?
Disassemble as far as you can and then hit it with some penetrating oil. Once youve gotten it fully disassembled/as disassembled as possible, give it a little electrolysis treatment. It'll definitely have some pitting, but unless the bore is just gone you can almost certainly get it to shooting condition with a bit of work and a couple replaced springs.
>>

And to add on to my point, I have a Chinese SKS (M21 code, 1963 production. If some of you /k/ommandos are on Gunboards, then you probably saw it on there.) that I bought as a trigger group, barreled action, gas tube, bolt, and cover. I cleaned off a lot of the rust, put it in a spare Russian stock set I had, got a blade bayonet for it, got a magazine, and it shoots just fine. The only bits the rust fucked up were the receiver cover and the front sight. Aside from that it functions great, shoots great, and most of all had a great bore in it. I use it for my innawoods rifle basically.
