ok so its like bigfoot tier BS
or what

why are people on /out/ scared of them
>>
>>30314035
they're an old pasta story that got circulated between /k/ and /x/ for...good god, probably the last 3 years?

basically, they're supposed to be a large shape shifting woodland/desert/mountain creature that smells of copper/blood/decay and stalks humans who go innawoods, often by abducting and then mimicking one of the humans in the party. According to the mythos, they're vulnerable to white ash (god knows if this means ashes burned white, the wood of the white ash tree, or ashes burned white from the wood of the white ash tree...).

Or at least that's the pop-culture mythos. The actual stories show some variation, but tend to be similar to bigfoot encounters or simply strange noises, etc, with no actual creature being spotted.

tl;dr a meme woods monster.
>>
>>30314131
It's a meme that everyone pretends is real, unlike bigfoot.

mixing /out/ and /x/ is not a good thing IMO

also why does /k/ know about it , like why /k/ of all places, do you guys all go on /x/ as well ?

SKINWALKERS DETECTED

k guys thanks, i'm innawoods right now and was about a 7/10 on the spooked-o-meter
>>
>>30314271
According to native /k/ommandos, a skinwalkers greatest weakness is to learn their real name and call them by it thus weakening them.
Also supposedly white ash hurts or kills them. However, we don't know if white ash refers to the tree or literal ask made from bones.

There was a deer playing with my cat outside my cabin when I awoke this morning.

Skinwalkers are older than /out/.

Before /out/ was a thing, /k/ included more outdoorsmanship, because outdoorsmanship is essentially fieldcraft for non /k/-related purposes. Pic related is just to demonstrate what this bored used to produce.

We've produced many other things that overlap with both /x/ and /out/ topics, though. For example, the STALKER challenges are basically a mix of backpacking and urbex, and alot of our older memes (like the willis comics) show how close (and often awkward and unwanted) our relation to /x/ has been.

That you don't know any of this just makes me aware of how new you are...

>>30314254
why did i read all that
>>
>>30314420
been here 1 year only really browse /pol/ /out/ and /k/
>>
>>30314463
>1 year

oh wow. At my 1 year mark, I hadn't even left /b/. I've been here since 2009, and I'm nothing but a newfag.

>/pol/

I wouldn't. If you want to learn about political theory, read philosophy and history. /pol/ can be entertaining, but getting sucked into their mindset can be pretty bad, and they're not correct about a good many things.
>>
>>30314495
i only really use them for news desu
modern news sources are absolute cancer to use
>>
>>30314514
>modern news sources are absolute cancer to use

/pol/'s just a filter for those same sources. Instead of reading shitty news, you end up reading shitty news that a group of shit heads want you to read.

Best way to do news is to scrounge EVERYWHERE for opinions so that you can have something balanced. /pol/,
reddit
, google trends, twitter...even failbook and /x/ can give you a perspective as to what the plebs are thinking about.

reading news is about hearing everyone's perspective, knowing their motives, and reading between the lines. Unfortunately, /pol/ is only one perspective.

m8 i couldn't care enough to look everywhere

i only want to know whats happened , i always take everything on /pol/ with spoonfull of salt anyway
