Germanfag here. My uncle died yesterday, spent the last night with my family, talking about him. I didn't know him very good, and it's actually been the first time i heard a lot of stories about him. I knew he was kind of rightwing, and that he grew up in South Africa and came to Germany after the modern South Africa was founded in 1994. Always sounded plausible to me, and i never really cared for that guy as he and my dad (his half brother) never had much contact.
Turns out he was not just some racist old man, he actually fought in Rhodesia in the 70s. After that, he joined the South African Defence force and was major the time the army got disbanded.
I know you fags like this kind of stuff, so thought you might be interested to hear this. Also, i never really was into all this hail rhodesia shit. Now i'm starting to have interest, so please post pictures and tell me if my uncle probably was some really badass commando dude or just the old racist fart i always thought he was.

There are no stories, except family stories. You know, like "no contact for years, everyone crying, then suddenly he shows up and says "I'm good, didn't work out in Rhodesia"". Stuff like that. Then they had little contact from time to time when he was back in South Africa, untill it got abolished and he suddenly showed up in Germany. Guy almost never showed up at my grandparents at christmas, i saw him like a dozen times in my whole life.
I tried to find out anything about his time in Rhodesia yesteday, but noone actually knows anything or doesn't want to talk about it. I think they actually don't know much besides what they told me, he fought in Rhodesia and was a SADF major after that. And that he was a racist, what i knew. And that he wasn't a family guy, what i also knew before. I think that's it.
His flat is like 100km from here, my aunt and her son are sorting his stuff out tomorrow. I'll try to get there and see if there's any documents or photos.

Ill take understanding at a retard level. I took German because ancestors from Germany. I used to be better at it but truth is there's rarely an occasion to speak it.
German was also the least taken language class. Most chose Spanish or bitch ass French. We had to pick a German name in class, Marcus here.
