What are the best AR-15 lowers for the price? Are the 45-50 dollar Anderson lowers good?
>>
>>30305930
Bumped
>>
>>30305930
yes.
>>
>>30305930
Yes, or PSA blems
>>
Have two Anderson lowers, and they do the job perfectly fine. The first one I got had a problem with the magazine catch, and it wouldn't hold a magazine worth a shit, but with a few emails and about a week's time I got a new one in perfect order.

They do seem to fit a slight bit loose on most uppers, but I never notice it when I'm shooting.
>>
>>30306010
Was it a problem with the machining of the actual stripped lower or just the mag catch parts? I'm thinking about buying stripped lowers.
>>
just buy 80's and build your own, it's a great feeling making liberals cry by making unserialized AR's.
>>
>>30306023
It was the machining. It was made so that the magazine catch couldn't sit deep enough to do it's job, I even bought a different catch to test it.

I don't know anything about how common that is, but as I said, their customer service was great. A couple emails and a trip to the post office (and an awkward conversation about "shipping gun parts" fuck off it's going to the manufacturer) and I had a new one in about a week's time.
>>
>>30306066
Yeah but I can buy a bunch for $50, where as 80% lowers are like 80-100 bucks plus work and if there were an AWB I would have to register them anyway.
>>
>>30305930
If it's mil spec, it's fine. Anderson, PSA, Aero Precision; all good.

>>30306066
Not everyone has their own mill and drill press
>>
>>30306076
Amodized 80% lowers should never cost more than $70.

>>30305930
They are fine but the grip screw is different which is a problem for some
>>
>>30306085
>They are fine but the grip screw is different

Really? I've only used standard grip screws and never had a problem with them. Is it some semi-special snowflake problem?
>>
>>30306104
My understanding is it was something like a 1/4" grip screw compared to something else. Their website mentions it

Just finished getting an Anderson lower built out and attached the new upper that came in the mail yesterday. Pins were a bit tight but it fits well together and I'm happy

Andersons are fine. Some have minor issues like mine. The annodizing in the magwell is a little thick and I mean just a little. My AR won't drop P-mags free. Aluminum mags are fine though.

>A-aluminum mags l-look cooler anyway
>>
>>30306085
>>30306148
They just don't thread as deep for some reason

Either hit it with a tap, or grind your screw down
>>
Are there any that are better quality for like 80-100, no issues with P mags etc?
>>
>>30306081
>Not everyone has their own mill and drill press

they sell kits newfag
>>
>>30306210
You most likely won't have a problem
Like 99%, but if you're really autistc about it, get Aero
Before Anderson came along, they were the cheapest standard
>>
>>30306085
>Amodized 80% lowers should never cost more than $70.
I need a link.

Also you have to factor in a jig which will probably run $200 for a decent one.

If you get a polymer80 one though it's around $80 and comes with a one time use jig.
>>
So since guys who know about lowers will be here quick qtddtot.

If I were to buy a couple lowers now, could I buy the uppers later even if they were banned? The lower is the part considered the gun correct?

I was ignoring the jig costs.

Here is one link. I paid $65 for my lower at a fun show.

>>30306233
Correct. Generally speaking the non firearm parts are hard to regulate so long as you got the lowers you are probably g2g
>>
>>30306085
My Anderson has a magpul k2 on it

I used the standard grip screw
>>
>>30306233
>The lower is the part considered the gun correct?
yes. if uppers are banned then the gun will be banned, now what they can do is restrict your MD/Bayo lug and shit like that. but a barrel and shit wont ever be banned
>>
>>30306233

Despite all the fear mongering it's very unlikely there will be another AWB for a variety of reasons. If hypothetically the old AWB were reinstated again extremely unlikely yes you could still buy all the parts minus the receiver, it is essentially the gun in the government's eyes. Buy 10 ar-15 lower receivers and according to the government you have 10 rifles.
>>
>>30306233
depends on how the enemy writes their legislation.

the lower IS the only part that is legally a gun, but you could easily ban uppers the same way they could easily ban lawn darts.
>>
>>30306259
they've changed the design recently
>>
>>30306266
No, he doesn't.

He has 10 receivers. And "according to the government" the only "thing" he has, is the box checked "other" on the 4473
>>
So I posted in >>30300720
but that thread is pretty much kill so I'll just copy paste this here

So i just ordered an unanodized 80% lower and a jig from Anderson since they were sold out of the anodized 80%s.

I'm thinking of anodizing it myself sometime down the road and since there aren't any markings on the lower i see it as a blank canvas for me to do whatever the hell I want to it.

Problem is I don't want to just grab a dremel and take it down to hacktown. Is there a more elegant solution to add markings to the reciever?

I'm thinking maybe acid etching beforehand but that might not play well with the anodizing process and it would look very 'flat'.

Suggestions?
>>
>>30306293
>Is there a more elegant solution to add markings to the reciever?

CNC, laser engraving, or stencils

Holy shit man these lowers are insanely heavy. I don't know if I can buy something that weighs that much.
>>
>>30306275

Really? So they don't even know what it is on the form?

Thanks. Think I'll pick up a few just cause.
>>
>>30306307
When the National Tracing Center receives a request for a background check, the only firearm information they receive is

"Sale of/Redemption of/Etc (other transaction types) Handgun, Long Gun, Other"

Or a combination "Sale of Long Gun and Other"

There is zero make, model, caliber, or serial information transmitted to the government when you purchase a firearm. That is stored on file with the LGS, not the ATF or FBI
>>
>>30306305
0.8, it'll be even lighter when you machine out the trigger area.
>>
>>30306271
So go to Home Depot and buy a screw for literally .25 cents it is still a 1/4-28 thread pitch
>>
>>30306338
O damn, even more reason to buy receivers haha. I won't spread that misinformation anymore.
>>
>>30306081
I use a hand drill, router, and jig, takes like an hour if taking my time.
>>
>>30306355

How clean are the cuts? Aren't they kinda rough? I think if I wanted to go the 80% lower route I'd want to buy a harbor freight mini mill and learn to mill first..
>>
>>30306349
or just grind down your screw
>>
>>30306364
>spending that much just to have le untraceable gun

y
>>
>>30306305
Bro.
>>
>>30306375

I'd just like to have a cleanly machined receiver, how nice is it just using a drill press and a jig? Does it look shitty on the inside or clean like a real machined lower?
>>
>>30306350
If you want a visual, Google ATF form 4473.

The background check is only concerned with Section A and Section B. Some info in B is provided by the National Tracing Center and NICS background check.

Section C and D never see the light of day unless the ATF is doing an audit, a crime is committed with a firearm, and the ATF traces serial path from manufacturer, to distributer, to seller, subpoenas information for other reason, etc.

Or if your FFL ceases business and has to turn over any portion of their bound book that is younger than 20 years
>>
>>30306364
clean enough to work, not absolutely perfect but they are pretty clean.

>>30306375
i just like sticking it to the man and making libs mad by having an unserialized gun, because why not. i already had a nice hand drill, router, vice, and work bench. so the only costs were the jig itself and the lowers. plus its kinda fun.
>>
>>30305930
I just use Bushmaster lowers. Only $50 and I've never had any issues with them after three builds.
>>
>>30306411
Maybe I could clean it up with a hand file and or 1/2 wide high grit sand paper belt and pass it back and forth.. and it would look acceptable..
>>
>>30306435
at the end of the day, i honestly dont really care that much if the inside of my rifles are absolutely flawless, the trigger assembly covers most imperfections that you'd notice when you complete the rifle.

So is the Spikes Tactical Jack faggot tier or cool?

I must admit that I like it. I usually don't like flashy superficial shit on guns but this is different. The machining is quite impressive and the skull doesn't deter from the functionality of the gun in any way.
>>
>>30306567
Definitely not in line with my tastes, but if you like it, go for it. Put a spooky skellington on your gun and scare the libruls even more.

bass pro shop has a fathers day special on AR's

saw a few models ranging from 500-800

and on at least a handful of guns, the parts that make the guns up are worth more than what bass is selling the guns for
>>
>>30306600
>double checked both our posts

did you use your tears as cutting lube?
>>
>>30306627
Why would he use tears when he has a wide assortment of anal lubes to use?
>>
>>30306194
>>30306148
They fixed that issue on newer runs. The ones I got about 2 months ago thread all the way through. Just now put a grip on one using a full length screw without issue.
>>
>>30305930
Why would anyone want an AR-15? Didn't you know it's the deadliest assault rifle in America?

>this nigga wants to use something that is known to kill humans
What will you want next, a lion?
>>
>>30306567
To each their own. But as an indication of opinions on this board, we just made a liberal tears/cringe build thread starring this lower as our main attraction (for the most part).

A $60 router and $15 hand drill will suffice.

>>30306304
Looked around for a while and I found electroetching.

Good, cheap, relatively easy.

Now I just have to think up and make an image to use.

I also thought I was making a witty joke. Welp time to hang myself
