People keep posting this on jewbook. Apparently some guy walks into a shop and buys an AR-15 in 5 minutes.

How true is it?
>>
>>30297574
I was able to buy milk and eggs this morning in about that long. Both are equally legal. What's the point?

Yeah if you have the money, have no felonies on record, recorded mental illnesses, or anything else notable that would flag you.

Liberal fuckhead walks into gunstore, asks to see popular "weapons" for home defense then complains he didn't even ask for what he literally asks for, doesn't fill out any paperwork because he doesn't actually buy the gun because you can't without a valid ID, doesn't sit through the background check, and then decides it only takes 5 minutes to do this.

And here's the kicker!
>Backwater Virginia

It takes about that long for any other gun. What's so shocking and scary about that? He just proved he had no criminal record. I am jelly though took like 15 min for my 4473 to go through for my wasr.
>>
>>30297704
They do a background check on you, if you have committed felonies, or other specific crimes like certain levels or types of domestic abuse you don't get to buy a gun.

This also depends on the state too, different states have different laws.
>>
>>30297704
You need a VALID ID to drive, let alone purchase a firearm. Really all they're looking for is your age, and if the picture matches up, but it must be valid, not expired. They take your name and possibly the license number for the background check.
>>30297793
It's generally violent crimes of any time, misdemeanor or felony that will prohibit you.
>>
I actually go to that range, it`s funny to see the owner make an ass of himself during the interview. Generally speaking the guy is a bit of an ass that gets easily annoyed and sits in the corner watching an 80`s action movie while someone else mans the register, then butts in whenever anyone asks a question.

At least the shop made about $60~ if I remember the price for rentals, ammo, and a target.

Im another Eurocuck but I dont beleive its as easy as they say
>>
>>30297855
Background check is federal, have to fill out the 4473 for any gun purchase. Ammo and other shit you don't have to have a background check for.
>>
>>30297855
Every firearm purchase from an FFL requires an individual to fill out a 4473 form and pass a NICS background check. In addition some states like Pennsylvania require a second registry form to be filled out for handguns that the state police keep in a database.
>>
>>30297574

Last one was seven minutes
Now five

>>
>>30297855
>you can walk in to most stores in the US and just buy shot off the shelf
If by shot you mean ammo, yes what you said is pretty much true. It's also true of airsoft and pellet/bb guns. Only "firearms" require a background check, their ammo & accessories do not.

Im just going to guess that if youre seeing illinois drivers a lot of them are native to suburubs/chicago area due to the proximity to the border. nobody uses turn signals.

they are a sign of weakness and when you see someone elses turn signal that means you need to speed ahead of that person before they get in your lane otherwise you lose.

also will be moving to wisconsin as soon as I can get a better job due to the gun laws and cheap property. Looking to move out to baraboo bumblefuck area. It will be pretty sweet to be able to apply for tax stamps. You can only get them if you are a firearms dealer in illinois.

Fellow Wisconsinite here up in Winnebago county. I backed out of a veterans outing at a range after the range had a no full metal jacket policy. The range is somewhere between Oshkosh and Fond du Lac. Twin City Rod and Gun club up between Winnebago and Outagamie counties. is a decent range.

I can kill people with literally anything.

>b-but firearms are very effective at killing so they should be banned
I can make a very effective pipe shotgun with little experience/resources and no power tools. Give me more tools and some time and I can make a reliable semi auto as well.

>b-but ammo
Ammo is easy enough to make from scratch too, basic chemistry and common sense. Black powder can be made from things bought at a grocery store and will propell those chunks of lead just as well. Bet I could figure out how to make smokless with enough time as well but never tried it. Yet.

>w-well if you are so smart would you allow people to own nukes then?
There is a fundamental difference between nukes and small arms.

Small arms can and are mainly used for sport/practice/recreation/self-defense/etc.

Nukes have no use for self-defense on an individual level and can't be used for sport/recreation due to their extreme range and number of effects it has on the enviroment.

That said, if there was a rich guy who could afford to set off a nuke without harming anyone or the enviroment, I say let him do it. Hell I would pay him to watch.

The only horror that the zastava ak gave me was when my dad gave me a task to shoot my Rottweiler called Tzar when both Tzar and me were 13. He got rabies from a wolf or something, half of his shoulder meat was bitten off and i had to kill him.
There are no legal guns where i come from, but i would never ever call guns 'fun'.
They arent fun, they are made to kill.
But to ban them, fuck no. If they are legal, buy as many as you can, and stock up ammo.
If you cant, bury them and dig them up in case of a war with muslims again.
There is nothing to be afraid of, if they start taking them from you. Bury as much as you can, code it into your brain only to dig them out in case of a civil war and leave a few decoys to be taken away from you.

They make a copy of it, put it in the 4473 and put it in a back room for 20 years. It literally never gets touched unless the BATFE has to run a trace on it.

>>
>>30297704
When you go to buy a gun the ffl (federally licensed dealer) will take your license or other govt issued id and run a nics background check (see wikipedia org/wiki/National_Instant_Criminal_Background_Check_System, yea i know wiki but to my knowledge this article is correct). If it says you are approved, you fill out a btafe (atf) transfer form, pay them and youre done.

From there It varies from state to state but some states, like here in the democratic peoples republic of maryland, if you buy certian ARs or a pistol you need to do additional forms to register it with the state police and you need to have an HQL which is a special license to buy a pistol.
>>
>>30301205
More to the point, im sure i could print up a pretty convincing looking "receipt". If i was behind the counter i wouldnt want to see it either. Dont know about va but in md when you renew your license it keeps the same number. If va is the same when the clerk runs the nics check it would come up with his info because the number would be renewed.

Should the clerk trust this kids "receipt" or the federal background check system?

My guess is he pulled this shit so he could have something that he can write in the article that sounds like the system is out of control no matter what happened. If the clerk had checked the receipt he would have written in thw article that he could have forged a receipt, as i said above and foold the system

All gun shops do an instant background check when you buy a gun with a computer system in the back of the store that's provided by the FBI. It doesn't take five minutes because it's unregulated, it takes five minutes because of the infrastructure in place.

assuming you meant "shit": most stores that sell guns don't just leave them out on shelves. they're high value items, so they're often behind the counter and well secured.

if you actually did mean "shot": yeah, ammo can be bought off the shelf by anyone over 18.

>background checks
our federal background check takes ~5 minutes. why should it take longer, though? all they're basically doing is submitting your info to someone on the phone who then looks you up in a computer database that basically says "go" or "no-go" based on your criminal record. it's not like they have to go to the archives where they store the ark of the covenant to do a NICS check.

some states have waiting periods, but that's to deter pissed off husband's, suicides and other people who are still "in the moment" for committing violence, if you know what I mean.

other states have shit like foid cards, but in the end, all that ever happens to actually verify you is still just a NICS check, or similar check that looks basically at the same records.
>>
>>30297855

why would it go state by state? We're one country you know. Government doesn't need to take all day, it's literally a yes/no question. Felon? No gun. Not felon? Get gun.

If you take your time and actually read everything on the 4473 form, it may take a good bit longer. I usually buy online and have it shipped to this awesome kitchen table ffl dealer. An older fellow who has a passion for magnum caliber rifle cartridges in TC pistol barrels. He invites you in his home, he pulls out all these cool, interesting, oddball guns to fingerfuck while you chitchat. he will give me the form which i fill out, he makes a 45 second phone call to nics and im done. Best thing is that he only charges $10 to transfer and will let you try out your new toy on his backyard range. I always give him $20 because $10 is ridiculously cheap for all he does.

Question for the muricans.

Is there any formal training course that you're required to do to own a firearm or is it a case of being up to you?
>>
>>30307547
No. As long as not a felon you can buy.

Permit for concealed carry, a few States Constitutional carry (no permit).

Hunting also requires permit, but more about animal regulations than guns.

That's why we yell about our 2nd amendment. Its our right to purchase. Usage can be regulated, we dont care for that either.
>>
I love it when anti gun articles don't mention NICS either in the abbreviated for nor fully as the "National INSTANT Criminal Background Check System".

Sates themselves are pseudo-independent nations. If a power is not specifically reserved for the federal government, then it goes to the state.

At least in theory. In practice the feds get what they want from the states by holding their money hostage due to the fed near unlimited power to tax.

well things have changed, since 2014 you need a firearm safety card to buy handguns AND longguns, which requires a written test, and after purchase, california requires a manual demonstration of arms (loading, unloading, clicking safety, etc) for all gun purchases, which is proven by a form the gunstore employee fills out and signs, swearing under perjury he witnessed you performing them

since 2014, purchased long arms are also registered to owner's name now, just like hand guns.
>>

It honestly made me queasy after a few cylinders.
>>

>>
>>30307864
Oh yeah, been doing that. Wrote up a long post educating people on what an AR-15 actually is, engage people on news stories asking what they think they know about gun laws and "assault rifles".

Its important to be polite, even if they don't in return. Don't just scream "shall not be infringed" at them, it doesn't work when they don't understand the subject at hand.
>>
>>30297574
Any gun usually takes me 10 minutes, because CT has one extra form to fill out, the call center usually has a few minutes on hold and I like to discuss accessories with the clerk.

Buying a preban SP-1 was delayed for a week because Colt had to comb through its archives to find the manufacturing date. The Norinco AK I bought afterwards took 5 because they had most of my shit on file from last time.
>>
>>30307978
>*took 5 minutes
>>
What bothers me about shit like this is that it's basically arguing for inefficiency. Yeah, maybe it takes 5 minutes. Great, that means there's a streamlined instantaneous process that meets all federal requirements, including a NICS background check.

People can argue that the laws aren't strict enough and that more people should be disqualified, that's fine, it's stupid but there's an ideological basis in that argument. But I can't even comprehend the logic in saying that it's a bad system because the process is quick. People know what computers are capable of, right? They know that within those five minutes that paperwork they just filled out is being queried against a database that is populated via so many sources that not even most of us could name them all off the top of our head?

I guess it's just easy to form retarded opinions when you have no knowledge of the topic in which you're trying to be an authoritative source.

Some states put "Under 18" or "Under 21" on licenses so you can't chalk them to get into bars or clubs. They set the expiration to your 21st or 22nd bday so you have to replace them with an unflagged ID. You'll also see licenses where drivers under 21 have their license printed in portrait and over 21 have it in landscape, or vice versa.

In california you have take a firearms saftey test which they say is just a certificate, but seeing how you can't buy a gun without one...it's a permit.

The thing is, traditionally in America, your Father is supposed to be the one that teaches you firearm saftey, how to maintain your weapon and marksmenship, just like his father before taught him and so on and so forth. And if didn't have a father because he died in the war, there was always the boyscouts...however over time, not just Americans, but the western world in general as become weaker, scared and lazy.

We have lost touch with our culture and we have boys being raised by single mothers without positive male role models around them to teach them manly tgings which is important and just as important to have a single father look for a positive female role model for raising a girl.

I don't blame the gays but do blame social media for demonizing traditional role education for the two genders as I feel that you can be strong man or woman despite being gay and what roles individuals prefer in their personal lives, men and women still have unique and exclusive responsibilities to their gender that have no bearing on modern societal rules, but evolution and survival of the species.

I used to teach gun safety to some of the Occupy crowd. More were interested in that than in range trips, but the "intro to not NDing yourself when you find a gun" classes got some interested in range trips and made guns less scary for everyone. I began my class with the 4 rules, and then we practiced the 4 rules as I taught them to unload snap caps from various styles of firearms. Getting to handle guns in a friendly hippie circle was a very nice intro for that crowd.

The thing is an AK has considerably more recoil than a .223. I'm not even joking or slightly exaggerating when I say it's on par with a .22. I don't care how you shoulder it if it's bruising you, you have a serious medical condition and probably need to be in a plastic bubble at all times.
