Something about how they had to increase the thickness of the metal to provide the same strength for all the MLOK slots on the new one. Hey guys, how should I go about zeroing my ar15 at 100 yards with irons? Total newbie here.
Can anyone give me a suggestion on a decent rifle?
I was in the Marine Corps, while in I carried an M4 as an nco, an m16 as a junior marine and an m249 saw as a boot. Outside of those and a few other marine corps related weapons I have no gun knowledge. I was thinking of getting an m4 because I'm familiar and they are a decent price, but I'd like any suggestion for a better choice.

I typically zero at 50, mostly for windage, then step out to 100 and fine tune it.

Well again, I don't have any knowledge outside of the use of a rifle in the Marine corps. If an m4 is a decent choice I would be the most comfortable with getting one now because at least I know how proper maintenance with them. I had to do a retarded amount of work to get my Colt optic to seat in the upper sight channel. It just dropped in nicely in my old surplus upper, but the Brownell's NDS I had to fucking shave and recoating the channels in order for the optic to seat properly. I think they're getting NDS' rejects.

The front sight will move further off center and blur out until it disappears from your field of view as magnification increases. The wider the field of view your chosen scope has the more magnification it will take to look past it.
This is a picture with a 1-4 Leupold which is in line with many tube style scopes. Prism style like an ACOG tend to have a wider field of view where more of the post is present at 4x.
