IIRC the US made 550A1 had some issues and wasn't really worth it. I think MAC did a video on it a couple years back. I for one can however speak for the Sig 556 classic, and it is good to go, though I understand what you want is some true Swiss awesomeness.

There's literally no reason for the SIG 550 costing that much other than:

For 3.5K I can buy better rifles than the 550. It's worth 1500 at most, so the price quality doesn't really match.

And? I can get any other AR here in the US due to its commonality at whatever the price. The desire for foreign rifles is something that can be added to a collection. An AR can be obtained any other days or weeks without an issue (Unless you live in a commie state).
