If you want to build top tier, you build it part by part. Right out of the box, I would choose the BCM since handguards are optional/ you don't need to deal with quad rails and shitty furniture for more dollar like DD.

Both are really good quality however. Ask yourself what you're going to use the gun for. You don't need a $2,000 ar15 (not saying DD or BCM) is if your application is home defense or just plinking at the range.

If you want ""top tier"", get an SR15 and be done with it.
>>

Truth be told, I want the gun to be the most reliable as possible. I simply want it to be all purpose, home defense, IPSC, shooting shit at the range, SHTF scenario since i live in a exposed territory.
>>
I put a complete BCM upper onto an Anderson lower and used DD's complete lower parts kit and furniture.

Looks great shoots great and still smells great.

I don't know what the fuck oil BCM uses on their parts before shipping them but I want candles scented with it.

>I want the gun to be the most reliable as possible.

Get an ar15 that is milspec. DD, Spike's Tactical, BCM, Colt (not as good value) and many others are good and extremely reliable brands.

Find out what suits your needs in terms of parts regarding cost and weight. You can trim off a lot of excess weight by getting things like a non A2 FSB and keymod/mlok rails.

As for accessories, just get a sling first, a flashlight next and a red dot last. Those three are all you need in a gun, everything else is extra and uneeded weight.

If you don't think you can assemble an ar15 from scratch, just assemble the lower (takes literally 30 minutes to do) and buy a completed upper reciever from BCM. If you really want to go through with buying an ar15, I would suggest you wait till the 4th of July for sales. I know BCM will have one.

Thing is I'm not US citizen. I live in a poorfag country where nobody imports AR in parts i.e receivers. Just complete rifles

What country? Should have specified in the OP

Is DD and BCM the only options you can find? If it is, just get a BCM in my opinion.

And I was looking around for parts earlier and came across this UK based website that ships to all of Europe, thought you may need it.

http://www.tactical-kit.co.uk/
>>
>>30294608
There's also stag, cmmg, mossberg, sig sauer, pws, s&w, dpms
>>
>>30294624
Yeah, I would stick with either DD or BCM.

Have you decided on the length/gas system? You guys don't need to worry about barrel length right?
>>
>>30294627
Nah, I think 16" would be optimal.
And when it comes down to gas system i'm not quite sure, whole US armed forces uses direct impingement they can't be wrong, it's get messy inside i've heard, but more parts to malfunction in gas piston. What's your opinion on that? brb btw
>>
>>30294627
Different anon, but I want an AR-15 as a collectors piece. I want something that maximizes quality (money doesn't matter) while also maximizing name recognition.

Would your recommendations change for that?

DI is where it's at. It does get messy but it doesn't impede function and you should be cleaning your gun anyways. There's several really good piston AR's but for the sake of simplicity and reliability, just get DI.

As for barrel length, 16 and 14.5 are good mediums. With a 14.5, you're losing a little more muzzle velocity but it's a non issue. The bullet is still just as effective and you gain extra manueverability in close range distances with a 14.5. I have a 16 inch midlength and would go with a 14.5 all day if it weren't for the ass pain the NFA was.

For gas, midlength is objectively the better system against carbine. There's more gas bleed off and it lets you have a smoother shooting gun along with extra rail space if you're using an A2 fsb. This applies with both 16 and 14.5 barrels.

>>30294648
There's not many collector pieces for ar15's that are high performance but I might sound like a KAC shill since I already suggested the 15 but the SR25 is pretty big. Expect to drop a lot of money for one or just build some SOPMOD Block 2 clone with a 14.5 Colt.

I can also post pics of other iconic ar15's if you want.
>>
>>30294701
>SR-15
That's not just some ripoff of the SR-25 is it? Like I wouldn't buy a SCAR 16S for example, because it's just a gimped 17S.

Oh and pls more iconic raifus.

I don't know that much about the SR15 but it actually does have a market unlike the SCAR 16.

I saw an anon that mentioned the SR15's Mod 2 Gas system and how clever and extremely reliable it was so I did some reading.

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_381/248067_Mod2_Gas_System.html

Then there's the old school car15's
>>
>>30294752
Well this definitely gives me a bit to think about.

In the meantime, I'm off to bed since it's worktime in four hours. Thanks a lot for helping me narrow it down.
>>
>>30294729
SR-15 is KAC's AR-15. Very good guns, with some proprietary parts.

SR-25 is basically a very expensive AR-10.

I have an SR-30 and I love it. I will probably get an SR-25 eventually.
>>
>>30294729
No, the SR-15 is its own design and is honestly the zenith of the AR15 platform.

The bolt is upgraded, the gas system is properly tuned, and there are some good features like the sights and the ambi lower.

If you need it to be a tack-driver get the Project Ares which is just an SR15 with a Noveske barrel.

>>30294701
Is there any point to still use A2 fsb?

>Is there any point to still use A2 fsb?

No not really. But there is one good advantage it has over the newer style rifles you see.

It's extremely solid since it's pinned into the barrel and much more durable than any other rail mounted flip up sight. It has a long and proven track record but in my opinion, you're better off without one and having an extended free float rail.

That being said, a freefloat rail and flip up sight are perfectly durable for whatever requirement you have. I still keep mine on my gun. I recognize the advantages of a longer free float rail but I like it and shoot a lot with a carry handle.
>>
>>30294884
>I recognize the advantages of a longer free float rail
meh, the only real advantage I can tell is driving the barrel from nearer the muzzle and it's barely an advantage. maybe if you are shooting 3 gun and desperate to shave fractions of a second. it's just kind of over rated IMO and just adds weight.

You can use the extra length of the freefloat to stabilize your gun off barriers and other objects. With a standard a2 you generally couldn't do this

I wouldn't say they're massively overrated but what I will say is the 'need' for freefloat which everyone talks on about.
>>
>>30294921
that seems like a horrible misuse of your cover. you should stand back from it and take full advantage of it not not try to rub your dick on it. this just seems like more horrible ideas that came out of competitive shooting sports rather than combat.

Thanks dude for describing me all that stuff that i didn't know about.
My choice came down to DD, since retailers up here have ridiculous prices for BCM up to $3000, while DD has 2/3 of that.

https://danieldefense.com/daniel-defense-m4a1.html
https://danieldefense.com/firearms/daniel-defense-m4-carbine-v5.html

Picking between these two, leaning to carbine much more.

>My choice came down to DD, since retailers up here have ridiculous prices for BCM up to $3000, while DD has 2/3 of that.

Fucking what?! DD is usually more expensive than BCM. Looks like someone has bought into BCM's marketing (which they do market heavily). Oh well, DD is slightly better anyways.

The carbine one you linked is a 14.5 but if you can, try finding a 14.5 midlength. If you can't I wouldn't sweat it. The difference in recoil is minimal.

If you really want it, go for it DD is an excellent company.

the Marines teach to move back and away from the leading edge of cover.
take your pick on which advice to follow but that makes much more sense to me.
>>
>>30295041
I'm not going to pretend like I know a lot about tactics but the military teaches a doctrine or a set way of doing things if you will. Some of these things aren't as advanced as more modern techniques but they work so they teach it to a widespread group of people. Again, not an expert or saying you don't know shit but it's something to think about.
>>
>>30295012
stop this. they are both excellent companies. you can't go wrong with either.

Didn't see anybody mention, but MI makes full rifles now and they are top noch. They do a lot of work with BCM (they are 10 min away from each other) and they are basically one in the same. If you are fortunate enough to live near and ask very nice, they will make you a rifle that day to what you want.
