Californian here. I'm buying a DPMS Oracle in 5.56 this weekend. I was planning on it for about a month but I fear since Orlando and UCLA the prices might go up before I get there in time. Besides that, is there anything important I should know about this rifle or in general? I'm familiar and mostly knowledgeable about AR's and have researched this rifle enough but nothing too particular points out to me. Also, I'm looking to get an A2 buttstock and carry handle. However online it seems they go for around $100 or look suspiciously like Airsoft parts... Anyways, thoughts on this?

Mine has been great.

Shit, I forgot to mention I plan on getting the Mag Magnet for the bullet button or you know...wink wink. It looks like you didn't remove it, apparently some AR's use glue so I can just use a soldering iron to heat it up and remove? Sorry if I'm wording this weirdly.
>>
>>30292486
I hear that you shouldn't put an optic or a sight over the gas block if it's plastic and only to use metal. True?

The pic i posted is a magnet m8. It isn't attached to the gun, its just conveniently sitti g there inside the recessed mag release. If you are talking about the bullet button, only reason you need to remove it *wink* *wink* is for cleaning purposes, a standard flathead screw driver does the trick.
>>
>>30292535
I'm confused about what that "bullet button" is

This is true. The gas block gets extremely fucking hot (imagine a cooking pot, yes that fucking hot, to the point that touching it for a split second can burn your finger, not badly, but its fucking hurts if you don't retract your hand immediately)
>>
>>30292546
Liberal commie gobbledygook to prevent you from pushing down on the mag release to drop the mag. You literally have to use a tool to extract it. California restriction.
>>
>>30292559
Damn, point taken. Much appreciated anon.
>>
>>30292546
The "bullet button" is a cuck as law passed in CA that required ARs to have a NON detachable magazine. So they made a bullet button which is just a recessed mag release button that cannot be reached by your finger, and only by a "tool" therfore it isn't detachable, but instead considered a part of the gun. A bullet was classified as a tool (since a bullet conveniently fits inside the recessed opening to relase the mag) hence it got its name "bullet button"

Here is its intended design. I
Or what liberals call "loophole"
>>
>>30292652
What is that magnet you use? Was it cheaper than the Mag Magnet? Is it harder to knock off by accident?
>>
>>30292652
So what if you built one out of an 80% lower and decided to buy an uncucked release for it?

Does that mean I just can't go out in public or a range with it?

I could easily swap it out for a cuck mag release if I wanted to
>>
>>30292682
I've shot 300 rounds through it and it has never fallen off, and it doesn't really fall of easily, its a pretty strong magnet. I got it off ebay for $11, just search "mag release magnet" make sure your bullet button is completely screwed on or else the magnet wont be able to catch the steel between the nut.
>>
>>30292698
Nah senpai, you will be in possession of an assualt rifle without a stamp or whatever. Thats a felony. I mean sure you can keep it at home for when SHTF just never tell anyone you have it. Or take it anywhere. Same with magazines with more than 10rds. This is all hypothetical of course. I dont see a need for a magazine with a capacity higher than 10rds *wink*
>>
>>30292744
So hypothetically lets say I just milled out a lower and slapped a regular mag release on it, lets say my upper kit also cane with an A2 style flash hider and I have a magpul grip and collapsable stock, what would I need to do to make it commiefornia legal and still not too cucked and easy to return to its natural uncucked state
>>
>>30292789
Either have no pistol grip. And no flash hider with adjustable stock. Or get a bullet button and be free to get all the "scurry" assault features you want. I mean with this fucking magnet the bullet button aint shit to deal with.
>>
>>30292826
Alright, I guess I'll buy a bullet button/magnet and 10 rd mags for range days
>>
>>30292445
Army fag here.
I was looking at a dpms at the local shop cause its $449.
Couple important things in ar's
>forward assist
Doesn't matter until you need it. And you will need it.
>5.56 chamber
I've read the reports. You can use .223/5.56 in either/or. But 5.56 has higher operating pressure, so .223 in a 5.56 is "safe" and 5.56 in a .223 is "dangerous".
Wylde/with!dcat is best choice for shtf scenario, but I'd not think you can get that for cheap.
>Chrome lined barrel.
I don't think dpms has it for the entry level model. If you have an extra hundred bucks, check out pallmeto arms.
>magazines.
You can't do shit while reloading mags.
Get a lot.
50/90/100 drum shit sucks.
Heavy and they stick.
Overall dpms entry level rifle is fine if you go through a box of rounds a week for practice, it will last beyong the purge.
>>
>>30292789
Why not just have a bullet button on your AR and a regular mag release stored in your collection of parts?
>>
>>30292858
At my local shop its going for $529. Forward assist, check. Yeah I definitely wanna get a tighter twist barrel that runs smoothly during a shtf kind of scenario and won't burst from overheating. Will check out Pallmeto. I personally don't have any qualms with the 10 rounders, I like the look of 'em.
>>
>>30292910
Thats what I'm gonna do, when SHTF it should be an easy swap before going innadesert.

The real question now is do I keep the A2 handguards that cane with my upper kit or buy magpul ones?
>>
>>30292950
Twist is dependant of the rounds used.
Heavier bullet=more twist.
I like the 1:7
In a carbine shorty barrel some like the 1:10 or more.
And the point of an ar is interchangability- your neighbor has the same bolt carrier, along with the magazines from those guys that just tried to bitch slap you wearing government patches.
>>
>>30292858
The Oracle has a .223 wylde chamber in case you didn't know.
>>
>>30292950
Forward assist is more important than chrome lined or picatiny rails.
Iron sites are good to 300 yards for military standards.
>>
>>30293135
So pretty much the more lethal the rounds you use the tighter your twist should be?

>>30293136 I'm not familiar with what a wylde chamber is, it accepts both .223 and 5.56 I'm assuming?
>>
>>30293019
Magpul looks cool
Feels like shit
Unless you need the rails for attachments (legit operator style that takes years of experience) don't bother.
>>
>>30293242
No. The *heavier* they are the tighter the twist. Lethality derives from penetration and shot placement. Lighter bonded bullets can and will outpenetrate soft lead bullets that weigh more.

TL;DR: Any barrel with a 1/8" or 1/7" twist will let you shoot most anything. It's not alchemy.
>>
>>30293242
It gets complicated. Weight of round vs length of barrel.
So bullet x in barrel y is equal accuracy of bullet a in barrel b.
>>30293242
Wildcat/wylde is suppose to be somewhat accurate with either round.
The tradeoff is a rifle chambered in 5.56 using a 5.56 round is more accurate.
But a wildcat chamber with a 5.56 or .223 is more accurate than a 5.56 with a .223 or a .223 with a 5.56.
Theres also other chamber in wylde/wildcat- like .308/7.62
>>
>>30293323
1:8 and 1:7 are good standards.
I'd go higher if I had a 14.5" barrel- but I wouldn't have a 14.5" barrel...
>>
>>30293333
I said length, but I meant to say twist.
But length is also in there.
Firearms get very complicated. That "sweet spot" is a friggin unicorn.
>>
>>30293242
.223 wylde is a boutique varmint cartridge that is neither .223 nor 5.56.
>>
>>30293260
So should I just keep the A2 handguards?

My main issue is that the upper came with a triangular end cap so I don't think I can just buy some milspec handrails and slap it on, the A2s fit on it and magpul can fit on it just fine.

I'd like to convert it into free float but I have niether the money, time or inclination to do it at the moment
>>
>>30293673
This is correct.
Wildcat is also technically a different round
I chose to post wylde/wildcat together because I didn't want to moderate a 2 day clusterfuck thread explaining what the differences are, why they work they way they do with .223/5.56 or which is better.
If you need to kill something, all of them will work in your AR.
>>
>>30293718
Keep the a2's man.
Better feel than the magpuls.
Doesn't look as cool, but you'll be more comfortable shooting it.
>>
>>30293856
Unless you have tiny hands.
>>
>>30293856
Will do, thanks for the advice
>>
>>30292445
I just bought this gun today. First firearm. Underneath the barrel it says 5.56. Does this mean I can shoot both .223 and 5.56 rounds correct?
>>
>>30292445
Also, the stock on this gun feels a little shakey. Are they easily replaced?

using the magnet is completely illegal retard, stop advocating it or people more retarded than you will follow your advice. look you already got one.

why is the magnet illegal? because it is now allowing your finger to release the mag without a tool. the bullet is a proven tool in case law already, after DOJ lost a case and was forced to give clarification in memorandum

when you get cute by attaching a magnet, you are risking untested legal waters. unless you want to be the test case in court, i advise you not to use it

Or you could build one. Get a lower and LPK from DPMS, get an A2 upper from them or Colt or whoever, good barrel, fixed stock (A1 or A2), etc. You could even build a dissipator if you got two gas blocks.
>>
>>30295050
This person is a cuck op. Buy 10/30 round Mags and tear out the rivets. Acquire bullet button wrenches and never remove them. Enjoy some actual fucking freedom
>>
>>30295132
Soon you'll have to weld your mags in place. We need to just kick Cali, NYC, and DC out of the fucking Union already.
>>
>>30295132
but that would make me a felon, and then a prohibited person in all 50 states for owning guns. at least mass shooters cant use regular, fast release un neutererd ARs and hicap mags here
>>
>>30295050
No gun owner is stupid enough to leave it on so someone could start asking questions. It's a magnet that you can easily pop off when needed, it also hasn't gotten any flak from the DOJ, ATF, or whoever, yet. So it's fine.
>>
>>30295187
I've been seriously considering the move out to a real free state like Arizona, West Virginia or New Hampshire just for the gun laws and community alone. I was born in California yet always felt out of place.
>>
I've been considering this grip, it's good for when prone but I'm not sure about the quality or if it even makes a difference. https://tangodown.com/shop/tangodown-battlegrip-flip-grip/
