Hello /k/
First time visitor to your board, I was wondering if you guys could help me compile a list of terms most often misused or misunderstood during the current debate on gun rights and gun safety.
Please note, I am NOT interested in having the debate here, it is going on elsewhere in ore than sufficient quantities. I just think it is impossible to have meaningful debate on any topic without having some basic understanding of the topic, and I am seeing way too many misuses of terms of the art in the debate. Given that my own knowledge of this area is not what it should bee, if I am seeing so many, you guys are probably seeing more.
I already have the difference between "assault weapon" and "assault rifle," and the difference between semi-automatic" and "automatic."
What else should be on a list of terms to be clarified?

WHile I am here, I'll ask you guys to help me understand the difference between "clip" and "magazine." If I understand right, a clip is used to align and feed cartridges into a magazine, a magazine is then used to supply the cartridges to the gun using some variant on a spring action. That about it, or am I missing something?

Clips and magazines. If you call a Magazine a Clip i will personally go to your house and shit into your open mouth.
the "AR" in AR-15 stands for Armalite Rifle not Assault Rifle, and the AR-15 was made originally for civilian use (The M-16 being the automatic assault rifle the Army used in Nam)
Not really a term but do understand that full-auto is almost impossible to get; any libtard that brings up full auto is just libtarding

A clip is the bullets in a magazine (that's why you load fixed mag guns with a clip), whereas a magazine is a mchine that feeds bullets via spring power into the gun.

>AR-15 stands for Armalite Rifle not Assault Rifle
Good one, also have seen it implied that AR stands for Autpomatic Rifle.
> If you call a Magazine a Clip i will personally...
It is to avoid just such an eventuality that I am trying to make sure I understand. Am I more or less right in the above?
Oh my Lord...

In an article to explain the difference, they get it exactly backwards.

>A clip is the bullets in a magazine
Uh no, a clip is a mechanism that holds cartridges and allows them to be fed into an internal or external magazine.

Says there is no such thing as an assault rifle and it is a media creation. Then tries to make a definition for it.
