Ok /k/. I'm in the job market and found a company hiring armored car drivers/riders. Requirements are just a GED/High School, no criminal or driving record, and ability to get a concealed handgun license plus pass a background investigation. It pays $14 an hour starting pay. I'm probably going to apply but I need help with my resume to have a good chance.

Right now:
>college degree
>have valid CCW already
>zero criminal record
>no driving record
>no drug use
>fit 22 year old
>no financial problems

Problem is I have zero job experience and no military experience (which might help) but I did do ROTC in college. What can I do to improve my resume for this type of job?

Also anybody ever work as armed security or armored cars? What is the typical day like? I know it's mostly picking up and dropping off money and valuables. Seems pretty easy. Anything I should watch out for? Average age of employees? Is the more experienced guy usually the driver?

This is the only armed job I'm looking at right now because I probably won't be applying for alas or DOC. Could get hired as unarmed security I guess, plenty of those jobs available but I think I'd enjoy riding around in a vehicle and carrying a gun more.

Do you like breathing in exhaust fumes, smelling coworker farts, being treated like dogshit by your company, driving rust bucket trucks that leak when it rains?

Do you like the feeling of brakess on the verge of breaking every time you use the pedal, do you like seeing the road through the floor of the truck. Do you like working with batshit insane coworkers who are going nowhere with their life and hate everything.

If so, you will love this job.
Get a different job, the pay sucks. Former Garda employee here.

We have had armored car job threads in the past and the consensus is that they are all fucking horrible. Unmaintained trucks with no AC, stupid coworkers who shouldn't have a license, and horrible bosses plague the armored car field. You'll be lifting heavy shit all day as well.

Pretty much a summary of what is discussed in every armored car thread.

So your saying if I'm not a retard and don't mind sitting in a cramped shitty vehicle with another guy or two all day I'll be fine? And your saying the bar is low for me to get hired?

I mean. I need a job and there's not much available here without "X work experience in X field needed" besides delivering pizza and fast food. Plus, no prior work experience is a problem for my resume.
>>
>>30284280
There are a million other jobs out there to build a resume with.

Find one that is much safer.

Hot doesn't begin to describe what it's like in those shitboxes in the spring and summer.

Find every warehouse in a 30 minute drive radius. Apply for a truck driver job at each warehouse. Obtain one job.

Volunteer when Saturday work comes up. Help the warehouse manager close up. Learn to dispatch. Replace manager or dispatcher when they die. Make friends with every warehouse manager (Linkedin or WERC) within 30 minute radius. Know their boss and customers. Lateral over when they die, and get a 15% raise for doing so.

Don't get married. Save your money. If you spend the weekend at a girls house, bring nothing more than your hat. Cosign no loans, tits, credit cards, or apartment leases. Never ever ever tell anyone how much money you have in the bank. The person that comes to you with the proposition is the one who is trying to screw you.

That about covers it.

Those jobs are taken by Mexicans.
>>
People have already stated some of these things, but I will share some pros and cons after working for Brinks' for almost a year.

Pros
>very minimal qualifications to obtain job
>obtained a set of IIIA armor for free (the armor did take over three months to get to me when it was stated it would only take three weeks and came well after I began carrying money instead of just driving)
>received a free box of .40 ammo every month

Cons
>low pay
>trucks constantly break down (this unexpectedly adds hours to your day, do not plan to do things after work)
>coworkers will act in unpredictable ways due to stressed work environment
>carrying money into ghetto stores with people just eyeing you the entire time (your back will have to be turned to these people at some point)
>management will be very spiteful and do not care about anything you might feel is important (management made me fight to get days off for my wedding and even made me late to my own wedding reception)
>you will smell of exhaust and sweat every day after work
>schedule changes can be up until the last minute
>constantly understaffed due to the revolving door of employees

I'm sure there are things I am forgetting but the armored car industry is not a good place to work.

So it's literally a job with basic pay, horrible co-workers, horrible bosses, little room for free time, that's in bad conditions that's dangerous?

Sounds like most starting jobs to me. Better than getting a job in a factory or at McDonald's.

Do they let you carry whatever gun you want?
>>
>>30284280
It sucks, but they'll hire anybody. They need bodies to move things they dont want hi speed low drag operators. You're probably overqualified honestly, but they'll hire you anyways.

It's not the worst job I ever had, but its in the top 10.
>>
>>30287094
Depends on the state, mine does but you have to qualify with it and can only carry the gun you qualify with. Some companies may insist you use their guns.
>>
>>30287203

Does the gun need to be black or in s certain caliber?

If the rate of guys quitting is so high and I'm college educated how tough would it be to get a management position after a while?
>>
>>30284280
We're telling you not to take this shitty job you moron.
It's in no way /k/ related.
You're expected to defend OTHER PEOPLES MONEY with deadly force while you ear peanuts.
>>
>>30284206
Dont mention ROTC. You didnt actually join the military so mentioning this can only hurt you. "I trained to he a manager in company xxx, but I did'nt."

Honestly it shouldn't be that hard... the college degree could conceivably hurt you if it can be related in any way to management; I work security and a guy we got has a bachelors and military experience but he had tobapply twice and eventually he got in through a veterans program....being over qualified sucks balls (being perceived as rather).... Now being a Casino cop is one thing, we hire from within promotion wise so I can understand the "over qualified" stigma, but being an armored car worker can hinge more on your credit than anything.

Good look bro. Two to three of them die per year iirc. Worst that's happened to us is hospitilization by some drunk out of state LEO.
>>
>>30284206

i drove armored trucks for 3 months... worst job ever, the pay is shit the trucks are shit the people are shit you get treated like shit, fucking niggers always drooling when they see our money bags ... fucking shit job
>>
The current car companies were I live haven't raised the pay for drivers in 5 years. Would you trust your back with a bunch of money to guys who haven't gotten a pay raise? I'd ask some pretty serious questions before I started working there.
>>
>>30288260
Where I'm coming from it would be odd to NOT have 4 years of ROTC. (Not an academy but close).

I am worried about being over qualified but my GPA is shit (literally 2.0 and go). I don't have my GPA on my resume but if they ask...yeah...I'm an idiot with a degree.

And die how? Accidents or robbery?

>>30288319
We've gone over this. I need a job. It being a shit job isn't a big deal.

>>30288447
I mean...no...but I don't think the risk of being robbed is incredibly high. Maybe I'm wrong in which case I'll go out as any /k/ommando should: screaming Cheeki Breeki while making a break for the woods.
>>
>>30284206
I used to be a retail manager, and I can confirm their job is shit. They are always completely drenched in sweat, they get jeered at by niggers, whites all crack the same stupid jokes at them, and you can just tell that they crave the sweet release of death. They are extremely stressed about their schedule, and get downright frantic if the safe is on delay or some other issue is holding up the transaction. The company made a big deal about always having the same crew so everyone recognizes each other, but the turnover must be insane because every few weeks there were new faces.

Watch out for detours during rainstorms
>>
If you get in any crash other than a very minor one, you have a good chance of being injured or dying.

Every surface inside the trucks is metal edges and points.

In the back you can have well over 100 boxes of coin, weighing ~25lbs each. Bags of coin you pick up are more so around 40-50lbs.

For a second i thought this was a thread about performing an armored car heist.

Oh well, this can be a thread too
>>
>>30291536

As someone who worked for an armored car company, it wouldn't be hard at all, the only difficult thing would be to know which truck is carrying the most money that day/week/month.
>>
>>30291587
>trying to get input on being hired as an armored car guard
>anons start planning a heist instead because it would be "easy"

How reassuring.

So basically "pick a card, any card!" and hope for the best?
>>
>>30284206
No way you don't get the job. I knew a guy who did armored car with a burglary charge.
>>
>>30291587
So how would one stop a truck? As far as I know they are ordered to just keep going no matter what and there seems to be decent security where they offload
>>
>>30292487
Every reply in this thread is literally "You are overqualified and the job sucks"

Factoring in I'm an idiot with a degree and have no work experience it sounds good as a starting job. Plus, with a high turnover rate quitting won't be out of the ordinary when I decide I have enough experience.

If I buy a new pistol for the job (like hell I'm using an issued one) and bulletproof vest an I write that off on my taxes?
>>
>>30292585
Yep, as long as you fill out the right forms and keep the right records. Also you are way over qualified but if there are literally no other jobs why not.
>>
>>30292639
For a full-time job it's literally the best option I could find right now. My girlfriend is working two minimum wage jobs and hardly getting by. I'm also pretty sure my state requires a certain armed security license which after I get allows me to apply for a better job not doing armored cars if I want afterwards.

I mean, I wouldn't turn down certain basic jobs paying $15/h or more but there's just not much available.

Installing for TV providers should earn 2x that wage, you should look into that.
