All Michael Mann movies, Tropa de Elite, Munich was pretty good, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Blood Diamond, Children of Men, these are some of the standards in terms of realism.

Probably on youtube
I've been trying to find a movie for the longest fucking time now. I actually don't know if its a movie or show but there's a scene where a guy goes into a van or car and shoots a few people inside with a handgun. But as soon as he fires the first shot he goes deaf and he stays deaf for the entire scene, the sound in the movie stays muffled and he keeps telling his buddy "I cant hear anything" or something to that extent. Anyone know what movie im talking about?
Sounds like "cop land" to me. The soundtrack of the final gunfight consists of a high pitched REEEEEEEE

I don't actually care about reloading in movies (to an extent) most movies show multiple jump cuts during fights so i just file it away as reloaded during one of the cuts.

The armored car robbery from HEAT rings a bell.

I keep recommending this movie in all /k/movie threads - Dear Wendy. It's basically /k/ in movie form - bunch of aspie teens forma club where they shoot gun. It's somewhat artsy but i'm sure you'll like it.
The Veteran (its final fight)

The guard goes dead in that scene.

There's already a thread very similar to this, check the catalog before you make new threads.
>way of the gun
>opening scene is beating the shit out of Sarah Silverstein for that sweet and tasty pyrrhic victory
My weeb friend insists it's realistic, anyway.
>no John Wick

I watched Purge 2 the other night.
Shockingly good gun handling by the hero.
>>30283238

Interestingly both are Ridley Scott

A Prophet. From 2009 I think. Towards the end of the film.
>>30282522
Incredibly realistic and even features a nugget.

I'd say it's because there are no surviving European manuals before I33. while there are still dozens of Napoleonic manuals.
it's easier to coordinate a "realistic" fight when you have accurate source material.

There's some William Hope's New Method in that fight, still, it's not really smallsword-y.
Even though HEMA is slowly picking up, I don't think most of the sword fight ever try to be somewhat historical.
Fights in the Duellists looked good, but the fight coordinator didn't look for historical swordplay in the slightest.
>>30285544
Hence quotes on "realistic"
it's not perfect, or even really good. but as far as movies go, there aren't much better. at least from what I've seen.
>>30285625
What the Duellists was very good at was showing tension in the fighters. Most fights don't have this sort of tension, they just go by the moves, there is no hesitation and they take decisions very fast. What is good in the three real sword fights of the Duellists is precisely this hesitation, how nervous and excited they are, how slowly and abruptly the action is, instead of a flow. That's what I liked most in those fights and I'd say that's what make them realistic, much more than actual sword techniques, though they look ok.
The shoot out in the Guggenheim. Especially where Clive Owen fires a few rounds in semi from the MP-9 and then flicks the giggle-switch to full auto.

I doubt sword fighting will ever be truly realistic in movies because movies/tv are going for entertainment to the average viewer with a long drawn out fight between the hero and the villain
Whereas hema is trying to be more realistic. Most duels in it are boring to watch, ending very quickly with a simple cut to somewhere vital after the opponent miss a cut or parry. Not fun to watch for someone who is interested in hema, and boring as fuck for someone who isn't interested in hema

see what I did there ?

Why do people think Michael Mann's films are any good? He's an overrated hack at best.
Heat is a decent movie and that's being generous. Collateral is a fucking joke.
>b-b-but muh mozambique!!11
failure drills are shitty. You dont fucking do them in a real gunfight, you shoot center of mass. Probably the same people who wank off to John Wick and gun kata.

>>30289824
I mean, if you had someone that could operate as well as wick, and had an opposing force that was sufficiently incompetent, it could be realistic. All the gun handling is realistic.
