Has shooting your gun sideways ever worked? Like, at all?
If you are laying sideways
One handed shooting requires you to tilt the gun slightly sideways but not full retard sideways.
When firing out a right side passenger window with your handgun vertical as normal the ejected casing will hit the guy shooting out of the rear right window in the face as it is sucked in by the moving air, firing sideways causes it to eject up in relation to the car and clear the rear right window.

If you actually use the sights, tilting sideways should have no effect on accuracy for intents and purposes. Problems is the spear chuckers don't use the sights, or even point shoot. They just hold their arm up and start jerking the trigger.

I've heard this was adopted in drive by shootings with automatic pdw's. Also dubbed 'street sweepers' if you held the gun sideways, the recoil will sweep laterally across street(ideally) instead of pulling up over your intended target.

Maybe not that far sideways, but among other reasons covered already a slight tilt could be done with earlier semi auto handguns like the Mauser C96, so the ejecting brass wouldn't come right back down onto the gun.

I also suppose a more severe sideways tilt wouldn't be too much of an issue if you needed to very quickly draw and shoot out your window at someone threatening you from outside your car, just hope the brass won't hurt too much.

If you're shooting slowly, it isn't really a problem. Once you start shooting faster, you can't walk your shots up the target (assuming you're shooting at a human or human shaped target for training).

Handgun sights tend to make the user angle the gun slightly upward, if you're holding the gun sideways and aligning the sights then you'll be tilting the gun to the side. Of course, at close range it probably won't matter.
