Existing lower? If not the CMT/Rainier lower is mighty sexy.
>>
>>30277978

I own an SLR-107FR. I can definitely see the allure of a well made AK.

It's freakishly accurate despite its reputation, eats anything I give to it (including Tulammo), and hasn't failed yet even after neglecting cleaning. People can argue "muh mud tests" but I guarantee that if any AR on this general tried to eat the sheer amount of Tulammo that this AK has eaten without a cleaning, it would fucking gag.

I'm still very much convinced that, aside from dumping shovelfuls of mud into the action, the AK possesses reliability that eclipses the AR in many aspects, one of which includes ingesting less than ideal ammo.

That being said, the AR is a far better, more modular, and more serviceable rifle overall (fuck AK barrel changes/adjustments). Just the capability to swap uppers and calibers alone makes it superior, and the majority of the fuddlore poor-reliability issues have either been ironed out or completely debunked.

That being said, a well made AK, especially with some halfway decent optics, is an extremely effective rifle.

Really though, most people who use 7.62x39 for hunting use Russian SP/HPs that generally don't work at fucking all on account of the bimetal jacket holding the bullet together and the hole being made as an afterthought literally because there is demand for them in the US / west. Even around here people torture game with shitty cheap S&B and Barnaul ammo because they're too cheap to spend more than 30 CPR on the five rounds they use every year. Hell, they're too cheap to zero on the range, either, so you'll find traffic signs with holes in them in just about every rural town.
>>
>>30278742

>>

>>
>>30278803
That's good news.

>granted at ~$2/rd
That's pretty much in line for Barnes bullets of any caliber though. Hell they want 70-80 cents for just the bullet as a reloading component.
>>
>>30278807
Hell yeah. You won't regret it.
>>
>>30278776

I believe it.

Honestly though if I was hunting and too poor to afford a good .30-06, I'd at least have the decency to splurge on a good box of hunting ammo, and spend a little time zeroing my fucking rifle so I don't shoot it in the gut and have to put it out of its misery with its bloody entrails hanging out.

Personally though I'd still be apprehensive about using 5.56 for hunting something deer sized. Elk would be out of the question, but even then I'm feeling iffy about 7.62x39.

What would you personally use for deer blasting if 5.56 is legal to use in your area?

>>
>>30278885
I second this. I grew up shooting a single shot .243 with a 14 inch barrel. Took many a deer with it. Coyotes and nutrea rats didn't fare any better either. If I was shooting durr, I'd personally go with a bolt action .223, but an AR is perfectly fine. I've taken a few with the 5.56. Completely doable.
>>
>>30278849
As someone who's hunted deer for over a decade with 5.56, any of the following work:
>Winchester 64gr PSP
>Federal Fusion/Speer Gold Dot/Federal LE Barrier Blind 62gr BSP (same bullet and load, different case)
>Barnes TSX/TTSX/Tac-X/Tac-TX 55gr and up
>Hornady GMX 55gr and up
>Remington Hog Hammer (Barnes bullet) 62gr
>Winchester Razorback 62gr

And if you're trying to save a few pennies, you can frequently get either Fed Fusion or Fed LE barrier blind in the ~60cpr range.

I've only taken it out once, but here are my initial impressions. It seems well built, heavier than I assumed. It was really easy to attach to the rail and zero. Using AAA batteries seems convenient. The rubber casing around it doesn't seem like it does much, and the lens caps are mildly annoying if you want to get them off quickly. Overall though, for $200 I'd recommend it.
>>
>>30279086
Unless you're loading a bit over book max 3k fps is pretty much the upper limit for mag-length 75gr Hornady's, at least according to Quickload with the COAL set at 2.265"

If you're going to pin/weld a muzzle device, make sure it's compatible with a suppressor you might buy or use one day.

Also, get a BCM gunfighter CH, it's worth it.

The MOE stock is meh, get a CTR or MOE SL at least.

No reason to get the Troy rear sight, it's pricey. Get a matech or MBUS.

Don't skimp on the sling, get a magpul MSx. It's literally the interface between your body and your rifle, and what your investment hangs from.

you seem extra effected by the terrorist attack.

People will always try to harm you just because they can. There is evil in this world, and no legislation can remove it. The only true defense is what you can provide yourself or can be enforced through the perpetuation of an armed society.

Gun control is retarded. Guns aren't the problem, and even if they were, building a decent submachinegun out of common hardware store objects is easier than growing decent weed.

You need mags but don't spend too much. I'm waiting on PSA 4th of July sale. They might have $7 mags by then.

I sold my 6920 for $1400 during the holiday season. Perhaps your listing is not as convincing as it could be.

Trail boss can't be double charged though. And even if you do exceed your charge, it won't KB.

Low volume loads make me nervous.

Mossberg MVP. The chassis is nice, but don't be fooled by the name. It's fucking heavy. Not really suitable for hunting use in my opinion.

I thought about the Gunfighter charging handle, but I'm a milfag reservist and don't want to get used to something with ergonomics too dissimilar from the M4.

What stock/chassis is that? I just ordered a KRG X-ray for my Tikka.

The mod5 latch is basically the same size as the latch on a GI ch.
>>

Literally no visible blemish, I bought two lowers and they're sequential serial numbers so I suspect they're not even blemished
>>
>>30279692

MDT LSS

Additionally, since it's a Mossberg MVP, I use 308 pmags, so I can load up to 25 rounds. It's a hoot.

what the worst gun control debate you've ever had in person?

mines in high school with my criminology teacher lasted about 40 minutes and i won.

i almost started crying i was getting so passionate

I don't plan on hunting really. Just paper and ground hogs, I want something solid, accurate and handy/compact. I need my other hand to carry a small cooler full of grape and orange soda while ground hog hunting.

I was thinking of Colt for that reason, but they seem to have had some financial troubles. But there seems to be brisk trade in both brands.

Yes fluffbutt, you "won".

Definitely had nothing to do with prevention of any type of incident involving the firearms you have such an emotional attachment to.
