I'll start.
While swapping to high altitude ASW is good for the airframe and time on station, is it worth the trade-off for the loss of accurate air deployed ASW weapons and loss of MAD?
Air deployed MAD drones are still not much further than the drawing board, will we miss the capability?

Could F14 carry Harpoon?
Also I dare you to show me a better ASW helicopter.
(there are plenty of burgers to post american stuff so i'll post bong stuff for variety)
>>30275688
Nope. The thing was a dedicated interceptor, and even the late-life upgrades that added ground-attack capabilities only made it compatible with JDAMs, Paveways, and various dumb bombs.
If you really wanted to, I'm sure you could fit a Harpoon on one of the underwing Sparrow hardpoints, but it was never integrated with it.

Dat tiny tiny jet parasite living on the merlin's exhaust. So cute, like those small fish chilling with sharks.

There was a ground trial for fitting them to the Tomcat but I don't know if they ever flew with one.
Certainly it was never an operational armament for the F-14

I don't know what it is about this photo.....
>it is giving me serious feels
Maybe it's because I'm a pilot and this guy looks like someone in my family.
Any more info on this photo would be awesome.

I was about to post a picture of the NH90, but that would just be over-the-top stupid

It's from HMS Indomitable towards the end of the war in the pacific (plane is a seafire). This is the meta data i saved from when i got the picture. For more detail i'm afraid i cant help.
It's a pretty emotional photo though, pretty rare of WW2 aircrew. Also it's originally sepia, the colour was added post production.
i wish i didn't get so nervous when I get in a commercial airplane and fly
Being a pilot looks so fucking cool. I got the eyes, scores and grades for it too.

it's all i wanted to do growing up, but i have pretty mild asthma, so i'm barred from all UK forces.I have perfect vision, i'm good at maths, i (at the time) was in good shape. But fucking dog hair and pollen made me redundant.
Hopefully one day i will have a job where i can afford to learn to fly - maybe one day i'll even fly commercially. who knows. Such is life at 24.
