I've recently been offered a position with Aegis World as security in Bagram, Afghanistan.

Has anyone else here worked with them before?

This could also be a contractor general.

Bagram gets attacked on occasion by the Taliban.
Typically
>car bombs
>RPGs teams from nearby buildings

shit like that. should be fun dont die
>>
>>30272858
I was there before back in 2007-2008.

But as a lowly E4 Specialist and that didn't pay anywhere near as well as this job offering.
>>
>>30272247
I wish I were fit to do those things, bad knees and bad back here.
>>
how does one go about aquiring such a job?
asking for a friend

Former Marine, PMC with Global and then Triple Canopy here. Aegis has a good reputation with of course lots of naysayers as well, as does literally every single company out there.

Will you be doing static or mobile?

I recently got an e-mail from former employees about bringing people back to Iraq because of a new contract negotiation; so you should look into that as well. Here is the list of companies up for bid and if I was a betting man I would bet on Triple Canopy keeping the contract as they are pretty much Cobra Command after forming Constallis group.

"Triple Canopy, Aegis*, Chenenga Patriot Group, GardaWorld*, Sallyport, SOC, and Sterling^.

(*)Aegis and GardaWorld are now partnered. (^)Sterling, who traces its history back to EODT, is now rebranded as Janus."

To be honest it is extremely temping to get back to it. I love it but it is not for everyone (and not in a 'oh the horror' type of way). I put it all behind me (again not in a dramatic way, but in a 'I love war and really just let it distract me from everything if I pay attention to guns, war, deployments, contracting, etc. and will not be able to move on to other things' type of way) to go back to school and then also to try and start a Maritime career but now that it is knocking again it is hard to ignore what is so firmly in my blood at this point.

Not to mention I really suck at running and that was always a point of stress for me at work. Sounds incredibly lame I know and I really do train my ass off but somehow I just SUCK at running, it's the one thing I seem to have an incredibly hard time improving at so every PT test it was 'fuck am I going to loose my job today?'. Not even a difficult run by any stretch of the imagination. Also I get like 30 seconds of extra time this year because of my age...hmmmm...

WHAT DO /k/?
.
>>
>>30273978
It would be static. I'm not even remotely interested in doing mobile again. Wife, kids, house and all that makes me want not to get back into serious fighting.

I do have a leg injury(gunshot wound from the last time in Afghanistan) and I can't run for shit these days.

A friend that I've known since I was a kid got me the in and I need the money. Hell just one year will clear me from debt and give me more money in the bank than I've had in my life, maybe even collectively.

>one year will clear me from debt and give me more money in the bank than I've had in my life
not if you get ded
>>
>>30274280

Just do it. It's not the military, it's not an enlistment, you can say 'bye' and quit at any time if you really hate it.
>>
>>30272247
You'll be dressed up like an operator checking id's at the flight line...that's all they do as far as I can tell.
That being said. Bagram is a nice base so worse thing to come from it is extra $ and a chance to get swol as fuck at the gym.
>>
how realistically could a finnish guy get into this business ?
>>
>>30272247
How much will you make? And what are your on and Off Times?
>>
>>30274365
Been there done that. Bagram is pretty safe for being in Afghanistan. Chicago is more dangerous.

>>30274442
Exactly. I already did 13 years in the Army.

>>30274718
I've been to Bagram before but last time was in 2008. Tan BDU's shades a Glock and buku dollars.

>>30275032
Did you serve in combat arms? Requirements are three years active duty in a combat MOS.

>>30275156
$250,000 a year. I know that I get vacation days but I don't know how many or when I can take them.
>>
>>30273978
Couch to 5k would help you improvise. There are also other ones that go higher, too.

I'd really love to get into this line of work but although I have background in the merchant marine I am not military.

Am good with many different weapons systems am good on a team.

What is the best way for me to get into this line of work?
>>
>>30273871
20 bucks none of them are yours. God i'd buy you a beer if you'd do parental test.
>>
>>30276432
You owe me twenty bucks.
>>
>>30276432
>beer
He'd need scotch or whiskey after getting those results
>>

Engineer in the maritime industry here. Not sure how you would get in contact with certain conpanies, but those shipping in areas with high pirate activity often hire mercs as security on ship to prevent hijackings.

If youre looking to just get into shipping, the best option for Americans is to look toward the Seafarers International Union. Its not the only way into the industry, but for someone without connections, it may be your best bet.
>>
>>30276570
Nope he owes me $20. All are mine.
>>
>>30273871
You are most certainly getting cuckolded. While you get sniped by some Takbir and slowly bleed just think about your wife getting the BBC back home
>>
>>30277969
Nope my wife hates niggers
>>
>>30278017

That is what all white women say to their husbands...
>>
>>30278158
Who said she is white?
