Is there any gear that is made for tall as fuck people like me?

Trying to find anything that fits my long as fuck torso and legs is already a challenge, I don't know if there is any military or tacticool gear that comes in long sizes.
>>
>>30269408

What's that thing around your neck called? I want to buy one but people look at me funny when I ask if they have any hadji scarfs.
>>
>>30269787
keffiyeh or shemagh is what they're usually called.
>>
Been thinking about picking up a night camo jacket because reasons. Since they were intended to fit over other clothes, how do you figure the size so that it doesn't look like you're wearing a jacket many sizes too large? I saw one in person at a gun show and it came down to the guys knees. Are they that long?
>>
>>30269770
All military gear should come in a long variant. For example I'm issued medium long or whatever the fuck sized uniforms. It might be regular long though

I need some first hand experience.
I am deciding on whether to get the ATS Aegis V2 or the Mayflower APC.

Mayflower
>testimony of easier shouldering of rifle and punching out with handgun.
>testimony of better weight comfort from higher placement of shoulder straps
>built in kangaroo pouch and admin pouch.
>6x6 hard side plate might need extra plate retention strap or prove to be a bit tight.
>no mesh spacer/padding

Aegis
>Mesh spacers/padding
>cummerbund comes with 6x6 side plate retention
>no kangaroo or admin pouch
>no testimony on how easy to shoulder rifle or pistol punch out ease

both are $220-229
I don't care about drag handle. Anyone have any opinion of take on this?
>>
>>30270777
I don't have any first hand knowledge but I've heard only good things about Mayflower
>>
I am expecting mags, camo, and some patches. I checked my mailbox again this morning and still nothing. I had ordered on Memorial Day weekend, so very disappoint.

Sup, im completely new to gear stuff. Got a question: Can/Does it make sense to use an empty plate carrier to carry pouches?
>>
>>30270777
you can always add padding in the form of pontoons/usgi hip pads, plus better resale value with the APC.
>>
>>30270912
No. get a chest rig or a HPG chest pouch for that.
>>
>>30270903
While the shellback banshee certainly doesn't sound or look bad, I am looking more for a carrier with ample arm/shoulder clearance.
Hell, if I can toss in $120 more, I'd go for the Scarab. But I'd rather put that towards plates.
>>
>>30270899
Some companies create shipping labels and wait until they have enough orders piled up to call ups for a pick up. Some companies send stuff by cargoships instead of air. I've literally got shit from China the day and a half after I ordered it and stuff I ordered from my state a month after it was "shipped"

6'8" here
Gotta be willing to look. American bdus come in long and extra long, so those are easily had. Try eBay
Russian stuff is hard, but if you look and ask around you'll find it.
For plates yet esapi large if you're near my height, when you buy a PC you can specify size usually or they'll have a large version.
I'll answer what ever questions you have.

Damn son, that looks great.
What camouflages would look cool on a white gas mask? I've got this russian PBF and I haven't been able to reach a consensus with myself in which pattern looks better with it.
>>
>>30271905
if you are gonna get it tailored get a medium.
>>
>>30272135
I personally would like partizan with it, got a boner for it recently
The S10 is my favorite mask, same with the digi flora
>>
I just got a UV-5R and I've been playing around with it, listening to frequencies and whatnot. What are some good resources and what's some cool shit I can do with it?
>>
>>30272208
I'm going to note that for the upcoming months, perhaps on Christmas those eBay sellers will get it for cheap. I also thought it would be pretty correct to use a camouflage coming from the same period the mask was actually used in the Soviet forces and a camouflage from the same country as well. Another point, are the sizes too different from American stuff? I'll admit, i'm a skinnyfat and I got to wear L/XL stuff.

About masks, the S10 is one of my favorites too. I like the PBF as well, but one of my biggest favorites is the canadian C3 as well.

Russian sizes are a little different. There are size charts on the internet that help. You shouldn't have a problem finding stuff as long as you aren't as tall as me. Mine was a bitch.

Not really, unless you got lots of neato stuff to clip onto extra molle I guess. Just get a chest rig if all you want to do is carry pouches. I can actually carry two pistols in mine plus AK mags.
>>
>>30272307
Let me ask you something, do you find these masks with a strap system to be any comfortable/less 'tight' as the full face masks such as the GP-5? Sometimes I think I should've ordered a size 3 instead of a size 2, but these are NBC gas masks, they're meant to be air-tight.

That's good then. I guess i'll roll back here when i'm about to buy. Even though the only camo I got here is a Rhodesian reproduction painted in urban camo (i'm a sucker for urban stuff). If you're saying I shouldn't have a problem even being a tad chubby (i'm 5'11'), then it's most likely right since you're tall as fuck (not like that's a problem).

why do people put coyote buttstocks on otherwise completely black guns? why does it piss me off so much?
>>
>>30272479
I know what are you talking about. PBF is pretty good though, especially because of its spooky looks (actually one of the things I look for in gas masks). Yup, the hair kinda bothers you,but it isn't a bad mask overall. Sometimes I use it around the home when i'm cleaning it, or even when i'm cleaning my computer's motherboard (I got rhinitis and that aids me a lot, hell, my neighbors saw me wearing it and dude got interested in gas masks because of me). But I noted that, probably going to get a strap mask when I buy another.

Well, it's good to know there are camouflages that fit me. I was starting to think I was too fat for operator clothing.
Thanks for the info, anon. :3

Pft, seems like you and me got a lot in common. I like them gas masks because of that spooky look. Probably my next buy is either the S10 or the C3 (the latter mostly because of the looks). And because they just...look cool, you know? And pic related, that's me.

Here's another pic I took. I've seen dark lenses for the S10, I think you should have them for extra spookiness. I'd get some for mine but the reflex of light on the lenses already give the spookiness necessary

>And what are some resources that I should have if I'm gonna go out in the woods for around 3 days or so. I'm in the PNW.

well if its gonna be raining in the PNW

>water proof 1 man backpacking tent
>mummie bag or usgi sleep system
>poncho/rain proof jacket and pants
>good water proof hiking boots
>a quality fixed blade belt knife
>fire starting gear on top of lighters and matches
>a portable fuel stove (incase you cant find dry wood)
>several pairs of wool socks
>stainless steel wide mouth canteen and a mess kit
>water purification pump or filter.
>an axe and a folding saw if you plan on bush crafting
>synthetic base layer clothes for warmth.

then you add food and snacks and other shit.

as far as packs you could get a medium alice pack or any modern backpacking pack. There are really nice ones and meh ones and shitty ones. You can go to REI or dicks or some sporting goods place and find something. depends on your dosh and how light weight and comfy you want to be.
an alice pack will last for the rest of your life but its heavy and uncomfortable.

ESAPI's at work in an Ares Armor Derma (not issued side plates, I want some)

The Brig has Protective Products Swimmers cut and rectangular plates, back when SKD was doing the package deal. No side plates, not a direct action kit.

Now, my PIG is my "fuck you I know where you are and I'm plowing a truck through your front door" kit. It's meant to carry all of the shit I'd need for a direct-action people-snatching kind of mission, not that I go on those anymore. It's got the SKD LV IV Swimmers cut plates and the 6x6 Polyethylene sideplates in it.
I know the sideplates are only good for a hit or 2, but I have no business eating that kind of group.

I picked up a Safariland Concealable IIIA vest last week, I've been EDCing that shit because why the fuck not. I'll probably have second thoughts when the weather heats up some more.

I come from the age of woodland, I had worn out most of the BDU's and DCU's from back in the day, got all nostalgic and have been picking up bits and pieces for a few months now.

I have been carrying a USMC ILBE for a while and using it as luggage on flights, but it really skylines me as a Marine, it's just obvious looking at it.

I'm thinking about buying something a little bit bigger and nicer, my first thought is a Mystery Ranch NICE 6500. Would this skyline me just as much?

I can't get away from military designs, I am really rough with my gear and count on it to be thrown around in trucks, dragged on rocks and through sand, etc.

Mystery Ranch tactical packs used to come in foilage green (aka grey), you can buy a used 6500 in that color if it bothers you too much.

I'm leaving for boot camp in august, do you have an allowance for gear, is it given or do you have to buy it?

Also how often do you pt in phase 1
>>
>>30280069
You are not given an allowance at all.

You are loaned all of the gear you need, but you are free to buy whatever you want, as long as it's coyote and doesn't detract from any SOPs. Buying a JPC or something like that is a bad idea. When you change duty stations or EAS you are required to turn in all your gear. You can take whatever you want, but you're going to have to pay for it, probably more than you're willing to pay.

I don't remember PTing in boot camp at all because I have blocked out most of it, but I went through during christmas time in 2012, so the whole schedule was messed up, you might PT a lot more depending on how many holidays are in your cycle.

You'll do your initial three mile a few days in. Hydrate and stretch. After that you'll do a lot of team building PT and other things with cowbells and sprints.
>>
>>30276572

Pretty much any adjustable carrier will work for guys up to like 6'8", and there's shit like IOTVs that come in fuckhueg sizes. Most BDUs/combat shirts, etc come in long sizes as well. 10x12 plates come down to my belly button and I'm 5'7" so they'll cover vitals on pretty much any human. Basically you just need to find sizing charts for what ever piece of gear you want or buy an adjustable model.

>>
>>30283041
It will keep the water off but it will make what ever you put it o. Ridged and darker. If you put it on clothes they won't breath and you will sweat like crazy when you wear them. On a backpack it's probably fine I wouldn't trust it to be 100% water proof tho. Always individually pack Everything in dry bags. It helps you stay organized and it keeps things from getting lost or ruined.

You are less likely to have shit all over your campsite if you pack it in smaller dry bag.so when your inna woods and you hear a skin Walker or something you can pick up and leave quicker

I'm using a Tactical Tailor Rigger's belt with a cobra buckle. It's the comfiest belt I've ever used, just speaking generally. Keeps my pants up, and doesn't bend under my holster. I've only had it for about two weeks though, so I can't speak to it's durability.
