Whats /k/ opinion on the Polaris Defense line of light vehicles?
Bumpu
Pretty good little light vehicles, we should use these for heli deployment rather than drop a billion dollars on growlers.
Perfect scout & salv car for my zombie forteress i am building in my head K/omrade
>>30262832
pretty fucking cool. expensive, but cool.
>>30262832
murica.
Question: could you attach some sort of rocket pod/TOW/Javelin system turret on the back and have it controlled from the passenger side?
>>30266041
dreams do come true anon
>>30266041
>That idea
My boner now has a boner, which in turn has two boners, which in turn continue into fractal bonerdom.
You monster.
>>30262832
It's just one of those goddamn golf carts thats mediocre at off-road. They paint shit tan these days and call it "military grade"
>>30262832
God damned badass.
Please tell me a civilian can get them
>>30262832

So its a normal polaris with a rollcage and painted in FDE?
Easy for parts/logistics and economies of scale i'd assume.
Why not something like pic related?
>Polaris
>Belt driven
Among the phrases that will never be uttered, ever, there is
>I'm going to get me one of those vehicles with the fancy new belt drive system.
>>30266691
>Why not something like pic related?
Because it costs more while having no real advantage over a MRZR D4.

Likely overpriced for what they are. It should not be legal to pull the kind of shit a company like Kimber does.
https://news.usni.org/2016/06/13/20153
They will be testing them here in a week or two for rimpac. Pretty neat vehicles. Turbo diesel, maybe a few other modifications.
I bet they haul ass.
>>30266041
I feel like javelin is doable.
>>30269476
Nah, javilin mounted system is heavy.
A dismounted jav would be fine.
Most you will see is 240's on pintle mounts. Hell, i think an m2 up top would make it too topheavy.
>>30266920
You can't stick a 30mm bushmaster on a MRZR
>>30269547
>Weight 344 lb (160 kg)
why couldn't you?
>>30269547
I think that's a M230, not a bushmaster
same gun that's on the Apache
>>30269509
is it heavy enough to make the vehicle combat ineffective?
>>30269509
>>30269691
I feel that something along these lines could be done if you threw it in the back.
>>30269720
captcha ate my pic
>>30262832
The PJs at Moody have them, they seem pretty bitchin
>>30269726
That, i believe, is just a dismount fireing it in the truck.
There is no advantage to actually mounting the jav with the dismount CLU.
The only US jav mounting options is with a CROWs system, which actually is better than the dismount CLU for obvious reasons.
>>30269547
>1/4mill price tag
how the fuck is that thing demonstrably superior to a 40k (50k? 100K?!) suv? I feel like fucking ford could do this for half the price.
>>30269823
Upgraded suspension, mounting options, various milspec performance standards, etc.
I'll stick with pic related
>>30269547
You don't stick one on a Flyer either with how they are actually used,, that is what a Polaris Dagor is for anyway.
>>30262832
I can't buy one.
I don't see the use of this between king size quads and 4x4 purpose built offroad killers.
Seems like a golf cart that should at best be used for base resupply and transport.
>>30270489
Is that a Merc G-Wagon convertible?
>>30270495
Defenture Vector, cooperation by several Dutch companies for a tender.
It is to replace the G-wagon upgraded editions in Dutch SOF service with more payload, 4ws, range, heavy engine and offroad capability.
Why not something like Jackal or Foxhound? Too large - or just not plain sexy enough for the special forces guys to be caught driving around in?
>>30270926
What's with the large "V" on the side of the jackal? I've seen the same on several different things like Abrams before.
>>30270980
It's there to stop the USAF bombing/strafing them. Doesn't always work.
I want a Daimler or a Greyhound for driving around town.
>>30270980
the orientation of the chevron indicates Alpha,Bravo, etc
>>30266540
That's what I was thinking. I've driven similar ATVs that would be smaller targets, too.
>>30266540
You clearly havent driven a rzr ever, because those things fucking brapp. Rocks, mud, water are no problem. If you'd have fucking driven one you would know.
>>30271232
6x6 atv with a tow launcher on the back?
>>30266564
>never heard of a polaris rzr
You a big dummy
>>30269823
>>30269852
I feel like an /o/tist, 75k and a welder could make one of these.
>>30262832
We got a few rangers and a few big bosses. They are great in the terrain, but overall the quality is America-level.
We also have a honda quad, which is a lot better than our polaris quad.
>>30262832
These things go like stink, they're decently built for off-road too. Compare the suspension geometry to a newer Subaru Forester. You'll be surprised to see how similar in size the ~500lb thing is to the ~2700lb car.
>>30270926
These small vehicles deploy from Chinooks and Ospreys
>>30271273
Sure, if the welder is working for free.
you also have to keep in mind that these trucks are limited runs.
How much would a surburan cost if the maker new that they would only sell 750 TOTAL.
this is a battlecar thread
>>30265096
yes, or the John Deere Gator 6x4. Which we already use a lot of.
Pictured here is from my 2005 Iraq deployment.
>>30262832
Saw Delta dudes tearing around all tacticooled out on them while at SFAS.
If it's good enough for them. Then again, they're expensive as fuck...
>>30270926
That is the cleanest looking tow bar I have ever seen.
>>30265096
That's what the 82nd is using a version for. It's a four seater and pretty cool.
>>30271240
Problem is when the military weighs these things down with gear and shit, they don't adjust the suspension.
I work at a company that does 3rd party tests for vehicles and equipment of all kinds, the test drivers are always complaining how shitty these things handle when weighed down.
>>30266691
>>30269547
i think this needs more LS
>>30262832
the amount of body roll is haram
>>30270926
The US is buying MRZR's for Infantry BCT's, not special operations.
