Some patrol cops who arrived on scene before SWAT made entry but the shooter retreated to the bathroom with hostages, and claimed to have an explosive device, which turned it into a hostage/barricade situation. Negotiations ensued. Eventually the OPD SWAT team attempted an explosive breach of the bathroom wall, followed by a mechanical breach using their Bearcat. I live in Port St Lucie, born and raised. Its a small town atmosphere but as many as 180,000 people live here. This Omar guy apparently had lived or had family in two homes located right down the street from me. There has been FBI and police all over my neighborhood. Im sure there is just as much commotion in the town north of me, Ft Pierce. This afternoon I went to the same shop that Omar bought a weapon from, so I could test fire my new Mosin Nagant. On the way out, I got called over by a Swedish woman, and I was interviewed for their website, aftonbladet. Pictures were taken of me and my rifle and I explained many of the fallacies of the anti gun agenda and also explained how the rifle used was rather weak compared to many others on the market, in terms of caliber. I researched this aftonbladet news site, and apparently it is known for yellow journalism. I might be under attack soon and now Im worried and kicking myself in the ass over giving my name and picture.
I also would like to mention that in my area, in a place called Tradition, there were shots fired at a medical center, but all reports that were once posted on the facebook police scanner page are now taken down. I feel like something strange is going on, and I might have put myself into the middle of it. Port St Lucie is known for the New York Mets, as they play here during spring training. Its also known for lots of grow houses that grow pot. Its also known for Tyler Hadley, a kid I hung out with in high school on occasion. This town has nothing going for it in terms of culture, and now were on the map for terrorism. FBI and the city police have been at his father's home for the past 4 days, day in day out. Im concerned now especially when I think about the shots fired nearby at Tradition Medical Center. Information seems to be uploaded, taken down, and changed repeatedly and rapidly.
