Which one?
>>
3rd gen unless you're a leftie
>>
>>30257391

Doesn't really matter, does it.
>>

>>
Gen 3
Will probably have less issues
>>
>>30257391
I bought the gen 4. I liked the mag release better. It's around 40 bucks more but you get an additional magazine so that offsets some of the cost. Try them out if you can.

I like the texture on the Gen 4s that I have shot, but I haven't felt it is enough of a difference to trade up from my gen 2 and gen 3s.

If they were offered to me as a "pick one for free" I'd choose the Gen 4 based on that though.

Larger mag release and better grip texture on the gen4 gives it an edge over gen3 for me

You're paying $40 for an extra mag and a shit revision otherwise. The Gen3's in production now have all the upgrades of the Gen4's (eg dual RSA), while maintaining what's originally thought of as 'glock perfection' (more robust frame, ejector issues worked out, etc)

Daily reminder the glocks muh SEALs switched to were Gen3, primarily because of greater durability

>mfw not even a glockfag
>>
>>30257391
I hear that the gen 4 may have problems firing cheap ammo due to its new spring
>>
>>30257563

That was an issue back in 2011, Glock fixed it with newer recoil springs for the 9mm models. Hasn't been an issue in years.
>>
>>30257542

How exactly is the Gen3 frame more durable than the Gen4 frame? SEALS had already been using the Gen3 glocks for years, so the fact that they "officially" switched to the Gen3 glock 19 is no surprise considering the fact that they already have them and have parts for the gen3s already. It has nothing with the lack of durability of the gen4s, that's fucking absurd.

>Have held them and never liked the feel
>Introduced to my friend's 19 and 22 on Saturday
>Oh boy...
>He's got rubber grip sleeve things on them
>"This one has a 50-round drum. Let 'er buck."
>Start blasting
>I actually like it
>Try the other and ditto

Fuckers need a bigger slide release, though. Other than that, was all good.

Meh, I grew with a Glock collector for a dad. Gen 3 is a marked step up from Gens 1 and 2, and is the gold standard for a defensive handgun. Nothing wrong with the previous gens but the improvements that led to Gen 3 were substantial and necessary to improving the experience of shooting the things.

The improvements that came with Gen 4 seem more like extra consumer choices; customizable backstraps, bigger mag release, etc. Seems more like optional tweaks to stay relevant and exciting in the evolving market of polymer handguns than vital improvements to a design, if you follow me.

While those things are neat, they come at the expense of losing backwards-capable magazines and paying a premium for a new design when the last generation is still plentiful.
>>
>>30257616
>losing backwards-capable magazines

what the fuck are you talking about? Any gen4 mag works in any generation glock, literally the only change is a cutout on the other side to work with gen4s with lefty mag releases
>>
>>30257514
Why? I'm a lefty and use mine just fine.
>>
>>30257391
avoid Gen4 trash. There is a reason SOF chose the Gen3 threaded bore models, and it wasnt for its interchangable backstraps.

Try to find a pre-2010 3rd gen, and never look back.

Neither, the trigger safety is a joke. Get an American masterpiece.
>>
>>30257630
Previous gen mags are incompatible with Gen 4s unless they're set up for right handed operation only.
>>
>>30257810

So then don't switch the mag release to the other side? I fail to see the issue here. Most people are right-handed. Most people will never swap their mag release, thus this issue is irrelevant.

compact 1911s have so many reliability problems, are you fucking kidding me with this bullshit?
>>
>>30257391
I have the glock 41 in 45. Super soft shooting and lighter than the glock 21, same mags. You might like it.
>>
>>30257613
Simple physics - the Gen3 frame is thicker than the Gen4 frame, which was slimmed down to make it compatible with the interchangeable backstraps
>>
>>30257391
G30 or G21. Otherwise, just stop.
>>
>>30257614
It's a slide stop. Literally no gun except for Sigs have an actual slide release.
>>
>>30257391
I like gen 3.
>>
>>30257614
>Fuckers need a bigger slide release, though
10$ Glock brand extended releases are available. It's one of those brands where saying "it needs X" is likely to omit an affordable aftermarket option.
>>
>>30259231
The "slimmed down" area is not even a wear area and your frame cracking won't even occur anywhere near that so far as I know.
>>
>>30257563
I buy relatively cheap ammo for the range, never had an issue feeding my gen 4 anything I've tried.
>>
>>30257521
I don't like the relief of the material in the front of the frame and slide they needed to make in order to put in the stupid dual recoil spring guide rod assembly.
>>
>>30257810
If you were using a gen 3 then you had it setup for right handed shooting anyways.
