I think its even more useless than most shotguns, which is saying something. Outside of taking out flying birds, or ballistically breeching, a shotgun is outclassed.
a .410 isnt really good at taking birds out of the sky, but it can. I doubt .410 can breech much. Maybe a padlock.

How do I shoot 12ga without hurting my shoulder?
The first two times I shot it I think I had it held correctly and it wasn't that bad, definitely kicked but it didn't hurt. The rest of the times it hurt and my shoulder is bruised now.

I was holding it tight into my shoulder, I think I had it held against the wrong part of my shoulder after the first two shots.
The funny thing is I was shooting an old single shot gun that felt pretty light and had no recoil pad or anything and it hurt less than shooting a heavier 870 that had a rubber pad on the end of the stock.

The newer AK variants have a recoil mitigation system that makes them a pleasure to shoot. Also heavy 5.56 rifles have little recoil as well. Does that make a lot of military personnel pussies? I think not.
