You'd be surprised how fast you can accurately rip rounds off with a bolt action with a little practice anon, even standing.
And if you've got the sight set for tilt out for reloading, or you have a detachable magazine fed bolt action, reloading with a fresh mag, or a stripper clip is a breeze.
But he had a pistol too, and used it in combination.
I'm sure if he simply had two pistols or even revolvers or a lead pipe he'd have gotten a lot done
