sup k

I just received about 300 round of Tulammo in 223. Has anyone had experience with this in the AR platform?

I've heard/read a lot of things but I wanted to ask if anyone has tried it personally here.

From what I've read or seen, half of the people it gets a malfunction and the other half just fine. I don't know what to believe
>>

If your gun doesn't suck it'll run just fine
>>
I've fired 500 rounds of it through my BCM without any problems. Not even a relube or clean just to see if a malfunction would occur.
>>
>>30247557
It is dirty and low powered, steel cases expand slower letting carbon into the chamber then contract slower after firing than brass which can lead to stuck cases. The projectiles are copper or zinc washed steel jacketed which erodes barrel steel faster than copper gliding jackets.

That all said, I'd rather you be out shooting than not able to afford brass cased and copper jacketed ammo. If it what you have or can afford, use it.

BCM upper, barrel and bolt. Never had a problem with it or any other steel case.

I'd shoot surplus over steel case any day though.
>>
>>30247557
Every once in awhile you'll end up with a case that gets stuck in the chamber and won't eject.

I have a ddm4v11 daniel defense upper with a build lower.

>>30247593
I hope I have no problems.

>>30247629
that's good to know. I'm going out shooing at BLM land today

>>30247600
thats good to know. Thanks for letting me know.

Pic related, my ar
>>

I'm glad I learned how to mortar 'em when I had that happen to me.

I've had good luck with tula ammo, though I just buy wolf nowadays.
>>
>>30247600
A) there is no commercial entry level ammo that seals the chamber, brass or no.

B) springback is not what prevents stuck cases.

C) barrels die from erosion primarily due to combustion gas wearing their throats, less so bullet obturation. Regardless incredibly few shooters will wear out a 223 Rem barrel no matter what they shoot through it.

Bump for curiosity

This. My AR isn't even anything special, it's a plane-jane Doublestar CAR-15. Never had a hiccup with steel case (or really any ammo, had 2 malfunctions in about 3000 rds and they were all in the first 100)
>>
>>30247574
First post is best post as long as the rifle isnt shit it'll eat steel case like a fat chick eats twinkies

Just picked up 100rds of tula for my AR at 25ยข/rd. Never had a problem in either of mine with any ammo type.

S&W m&p15 sport 2 (took the gripod shit off in lieu of an afg2)
Mil-Spec Anderson Magpul build.
>>
It should run fine, just don't let it sit in the heat with a round in the chamber, it'll cause the lacquer to melt which is what makes the cases get stuck.
>>
>>30247600
>gliding jackets

You mean GILDING jackets
>>
>>30247574
This. My hardened arms build ftf every time
>>
>>30247574
Are there any ARs that can't handle Tula/Wolf?
>>
Colt 6920 fires it with no issues.

Literally this. Unless your AR is some bottom of the bottom of the barrel pile of shit, it should eat steel case with little to no problems. My M&P15 Sport has no problem with Tulammo. As long as you're not using it exclusively, it won't cause any real problems.
>>
>>30247557
What would cause it to FTF? I shot a few boxes though my rifle fine but then a few weeks later ran brass then tulammo and tulammo FTF every time. Strikes on the primer but no bang.
>>
>>30247687
This. Have had it happen twice and seen it happen two other times. Not once with brass.
>>
>>30247557
I've put over a thousand rounds of it through my AR and I haven't had a single issue. All the Russian steelcase is really dirty though, so you'll spend a little more time cleaning your gun.
>>
>>30253565
Never going get one.
All actual research shows no increase in wear compared to gilding metal jackets.
This has been known for well over 100 years now with the US, Switzerland, and Russia all testing.
>>
>>30247557
I fired about 30 rounds of 357 through my 686 the other day, one of the shell cases ruptured and got stuck in one of the chambers. I had to tap it out with a hammer and punch. That's a pretty common problem with Tulammo.

>At blm land today

First it's the fags, now it's the blacks.

Could you make this more of an uphill battle?
>>
>>30247557
It will work just fine, I've fired a couple thousand through my AR-15.
>>
>>30255544
No it isn't, unless your rifle has bad headspace.

Day of dubs.

Anyways it'll be fine, so long as your gun is decent.

>Rifle
Did you not read where I said 357 and 686? Last I checked there are no AR's chambered in 357 mag. 686 is a revolver.
>>
>>30255660
There are ARs in 357.
>>
>>30255687
Still it's pretty common knowledge that 686 refers to the S&W revolver
>>
I've shot nothing but Herter's and Tulammo through my PSA build. Works great. Not great accuracy but who cares when you have a red dot and you're going for minute of 2 liter at 20 yards.
>>
>>30253672
I've got a psa ptac budget build and never had a problem with tula. Every other at guy at the range won't touch the stuff with they're 1k+ boutique ar15. They say it's poor quality and they're rifles don't like it while citing ftf's fte's and stuck cases.
>>
>>30247557
Fired about 150 rounds of it this weekend, one failure and i was using bumpfire stock and shitty mags so it coulda been those.

Its a good ammo to waste on mag dumps but brass case prices are really starting to come down, spring for some pmc bronze for 1 or 2 cents more per shot.
>>
I bought 500 rounds for my ar for 2 days of shooting. day one went flawlessly.
day 2 I loaded it all up into my mags, and the first shot I had the extractor rip off the rim of the casing and get stuck. I couldn't get it out with a brass rod, a bunch of hopes oil and a 2x4 so its at the gunsmith rn.
I'm gonna buy brown bear for plinking ammo from now on. spending $20 more on 1k rounds of ammo is cheaper than a $50 trip to the gunsmith.
>>
Are squib rounds really as common with TulAmmo as everyone on YouTube seems to think?
>>
I have had a shitty dpms oracle for about a year now, put nothing buys tell case tulammo through it, never had a problem.
>>
>>30258250
My Colt LE socom 6920 had the same problem this weekend with ripping a piece of the rim off. Luckily a cleaning rod got the job done then and there. I'm not going to buy it again.

Been though about 700 rnds of the pictured ammo. Not a single problem so far in my DPMS Oracle. Just ordered another 1000.

Only issue is that whatever the jacket is made out of (It's silver in color) will stick to a magnet, so my range wont let me shoot it at their steel.
