What will you have your kids learn with? A single barrel 20gauge? Something they can shoot at a young age, and have fun with? I plan on moving out to the boonies and if I ever have kids I'll buy them a vaquero, or a revolver 22lr, that's a gun they can hike with and practice with. A firearm they can make innawoods stories for retelling on /k/ 2025.

You could invest in a reloading set up to make cases from .32-20 so you can pass it down, would be a good skill to teach your child too. Not that I'm advocating you turn your daughter into free labor for bullets. that would be unethical and very profitable.

Op if price isnt an option i would go with a needle stock side by side in 20 or a mauser bolt action that you get inserts for so your kid can upgrade whenever it can handle the recoil.
No engravings or the likes but some good quality.
Or a small calibre kenucky style trapper flintlock but then probably a build I did with them.
The obvious answer is a Les Baer 1911. It will wear and develop lots of character as it's used.
