It's well known that the germans were more technically advance during the second world war.

If armies today are very advance and require all theses little gadgets that take time to produce wouldn't that mean we've adopted the same tactic that fail them?

I wish that thing wasn't an assault gun, it would of made a good rocket artillery from the looks of it.
>>
>>30236975
Wouldn't call them more technologically advanced considering they relied heavily on horses
>>
>>30236975
No they weren't.

And there's a difference between "pissing away all your resources chasing after wunderwaffen" and having advanced technology integral to your military.

Also, most countries can relatively quickly shift back to making cheap, disposable weapons (with the exception of warships) if they really need to.

>didn't have radar
>didn't have mechanised logistics
Fucking backwards meme weapons shits
>>
>>30236975
We didn't dip shit. If we did, we'd be using 10 different MBTs, 20 different artillery guns, and 10 versions of the F22.

So, What your saying is that's a weakness?

>implying the Germans didn't have RADAR
lol fukn retard

Considering nobody can spam ships anymore?
No.

the 100 trucks they could have built in place of a Sturmtiger would have made a much bigger contribution.

No, they had a highly bureaucratic and inefficient procurement system that favored novelty and excess to efficient mass production.

Generally the only areas that Germany had a technical advantage in were rocketry and jet engines.

>If armies today are very advance and require all theses little gadgets that take time to produce wouldn't that mean we've adopted the same tactic that fail them?

You have to hedge your army for the future, because little gadgets can change the rules of the game and become integral to its very function. At one point, shaped charge AT weapons, machine guns, and tanks were all "little gadgets".

Rivalry between branches (like Marines vs. Army) is one of the more wasteful tendencies in modern armies, however it doesn't even approach the level of bureaucratic fuckery that happened in Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany.

Yeah. Why did they build that?

Wars are about resources whom ever spends the less resources and get's the most really wins the war.
>>
>>30237140
Also, I should add that it's possible for most countries that have significant shipbuilding to switch over to spam levels of production, it just wouldn't be quick or easy.
>>
>>30237020
they had radar
only the application of it wasn't as sophisticated as the brits or encompassing as the murricans
>>
>>30237279
German Radar was on par with the allies until 1941.

Then the British got their Cavity Magnetron into a practical state, shared the technology with the Americans, and Allied radar development took off while German radar development became completely reactive.

bunker busting and building removal, the Soviets had the Su-152s and the ISU-152s for that

All other things equal, sure. The problem is that war is almost never like that.

Remember the US in WWII? Our economic output was more than every other major nation combined. We could have been just as wasteful as the Germans in our technology and still steamrolled them.
>>
>>30236975
He Germans kept chasing mythical wunderwaffen Death Star-tier things, which pissed away resources. They would have been wildly more successful if they stuck to just Panzer III's and IVs and got very good at making them and improving them to reflect conditions rather than designing what seemed like 10 new, wildly different tanks for every scenario real or (especially) imagined. They would have been better off designing one fighter well rather than weird rocket fighters and V2s that wasted fuel and manufacturing.

They chased a bunch of dead ends. That's not advanced, that's desperation slapping an engineer in the face.

it was a rocket artillery

Brits were the most technologicaly advanced nation at the start of the war. Recognising they couldn't continue on their own many projects were shared or passed to the Americans. So by the end of the war it was the US that continued those developments where British industry and funding couldn't contiune with fighting a war for survival and these projects. German persute of wonder weapons is a big reason why the UK out produced German industry from 1940
>>
>>30237013

I think if you stripped down the Burke a bit, you could push it up to WWII numbers in a couple years once economy of scale factors in.

The bigger issue would be constructing satisfactory aircraft; even the crappiest jets require weeks to produce if you're willing to cut corners, and the infrastructure for designing and pumping out new advanced aircraft like in the 40s just isn't there.
>>
the problem is they werent really all that much more advanced they just had wierd shit that sometimes worked if instead of making shit like king tigers, sturmmtigers, the maus, and assorted "wonder weapons" and focused on shit like the panther or the leopard and worked on making shit reliable it would have worked out much better
