It truly is a shit hole. Clovis is a wasteland. The land is flat and boring as far as the eye can see so it's constantly windy. Violently swinging car doors in the winter. Windy dry air makes for excruciating levels of static cling in the summer. Cow turds outnumber people. The population consists of minimum wage creatures. High school football is the largest night time attraction. It takes 2 hours to drive to the nearest city with over 100k people. Can't buy a fucking beer on Sunday. Wal-Mart is 80% of local commerce.

Whats the most hated place? Barksdale? I suppose most people hate it for the cold. Some say theres nothing to do, but as long as ive got pals we can find something to do, but i guess we havnt got much beyond bars, bowling, and movies. The range sucks, theres no concerts, the go kart track is gone, and no water or theme parks.

It often depends on your job, but Minot is always up on the leaderboard. Imagine being security forces guarding a bunch of middle silos in the middle of literal nowhere, and it's -20 degrees outside.
Offut and Cannon are known to suck because it's where careers go to die. Its often difficult to get assignments elsewhere, because no one volunteers for these bases.
Lackland and Keesler can suck, but it's a different kind of suck. At least these places have vibrant, or at least tolerable cities for living and entertainment. But the training environment gets old, and dealing with massive waves of green trainees calling everyone sir and ma'am can be taxing to deal with.
Any base that's far away from water, people tend to suck.

I don't mind Minot but thats because I'm a massive weeb. If its too cold I just stay inside like I was planing to anyways. Working in the cold sucks because if you dress to warm you start to sweat once you start moveing. Not enough and you get frostbite. Lot of people complain but I found the winter gear issued to us to be pretty good.

I should've mentioned this was the late late 90's to really early 2000's like before 9/11 early.
Spent six years at Ellsworth SD. Shitty weather, low moral (suicides were unfortunately common), not much to do except for when your inundated with bikers for two weeks during sturgis. I do miss the lack of traffic/people, but living six hours from the nearest major city wasn't worth it.
My father was stationed there for a time near the tail end of his career. All he evers mentions about it is how snot-freezing cold it was all the time.
To clarify, this is a man who crewed a B-52 as part of Operation Chrome Dome, worked with the Special Forces during Vietnam with the 56th Spec Ops Wing, was vice commander of an ICBM squadron, worked for SAC in various positions, and worked alongside the USDP at the Pentagon. He's done all of that, and he remembers his extremely short time at Minot solely for its miserable inclimate weather, and feels the need to mention it alongside this list of accomplishments for that reason alone.
If that doesn't tell you all you need to know, I can't help you.
