An XD is better than an SD9VE. Both are worse than a Glock or M&P though.
If you like the XD line sure, buy one. Still wouldn't sell the SD9VE though. Two guns are better than one and of you really want to sell, at least wait and see how the election goes

I upgraded from an SD9VE to a Springfield Mod 2. Both are great guns. The only real difference is the Mod 2 has a better trigger.
I kept my SD9VE and I recommend you do the same OP. You may never know when it could come in handy. I still use it in other capacities.
Have a Glock and I do like my Mod 2 better than that as well.

what does the XD offer that your SD9VE does not accomplish. Do you really need a grip safety, do you really need $40 mags, do you really need an overpriced Croatian pistol, can I get an M&P or a Glock for the same price or less, what about FN? think about these things before buying it, I got mine for $300

This. Ditch it and grab the XD. I have an XD45 Compact and I really enjoy it. I've since picked up a few Glocks but still hang onto the XD.
