First order of business, a shotgun, a pistol, and a .22
Those three firearms literally cover every single base aside from scary black 'salt rifle.
For shotguns, your best option is going to be a Mossberg Mav. 88 or 500. You could get a used Remington 870, but make sure it's at least 30 years old. Modern Remington firearms are shit tier.
For a .22, the Ruger 10/22 is the best hands down. Semi-auto, and 25 round magazines are available for nothing.
I'm not even going to cover pistols because of the sheer number of good options. Something you could conceal carry would be a good place to start (Oh yeah, get your CCW.)
When It comes to scary high capacity clipazine assault weapons, you can't really go wrong with any AK. Except IO. Stay away from IO.
You can't go wrong with an AR either, but if you're going to buy an AR, either build one yourself or do extensive research on different brands.
