What kind of tactical must haves do you guys miss? Which are you glad to see gone?
>>
>>30220624
I'm glad drop leg holsters are starting to get phased out. Regular and mid-ride is the way to go.
>>
>>30220624
I'm too poor to be tactical.

I'm currently about as tactical as a 70s Muj fighter
>>

Rails.

I know Keymod and M-Lok is better in every conceivable way, but something about an AR with a quad-railed handguard makes me nostalgic.

I used to think the same thing until i learned the vast majority of well known, experienced, excellent shooters use thumb over bore, both military, former military, and civilian.

It's not just Chris Costa. Really.

This. Also, I miss MAC-10's and 11's and Uzi's, bonus points if they were in horizontal shoulder holsters

Pretty much this. Gooseneck mounts were the dying breaths of fixed carry handle AR's. Their sexiness and 90's operators couldn't save them.

Fucking these.

I especially miss the prevalence of Uzi's. There's one guy at my range that I know has one but never shoots it, whereas a decade ago there were at least 8 guys that brought them regularly.

I also miss the gulf war era look. Woodland, choco-chip and coffee stain will always be my favorite patterns.

http://www.metacritic.com/movie/jarhead

It was a bad, perhaps mediocre at best film. A movie about boredom is generally not entertaining. In addition, the protagonist is immature, unlikeable, with unwarranted self importance and struggling with problems that are really trivial.

Waaaaaah I'm bored
Waaaaaah I'm far away from my family
Waaaaaah my whore gf is fucking people
Waaaaaah why won't they allow me to murder a brown person?!

Sorry to burst your ooorah bubble

>>
>>30227784
I wasn't even claiming it was a great film, but the whole point of the movie was to show the boredom and the emptiness of war in general. It's not a coincidence that the main character was reading Albert Camus's The Stranger in the movie. No it's not fun to watch, not all movies are meant to be. Would I consider a great film? Probably not, but I'm happy that I've seen it and I would watch it again if it came up

It does, but regular clothes are enough protection.

I know how you feel. My slung keeps geeting caught on my pistol or my pistol gets banged up by my rifle. Bought a drop holster recently so I dont have to worry about that.
>>
>>30228099

sure, Camp Perry requires a difference stance from 3gun. 3gun is much more dynamic, involving target transitions and you don't get to sling up with a heavy jacket on.

doesn't mean Camp Perry doesn't require skill. just a different set of skill. Ben Stoeger is not a bullseye shooter.

It does, but it's easier to deal with and not as important as what happens when you inhale it.

ie when assaulting through a cloud of it, you probably don't want to be coughing / vomiting..

Going to be real honest with you /k/, I miss the simplicity of the older ways. Before we gave manufacturers a reason to constantly market weapons as "SEALS USE IT!!!" or "THE WEAPONS THE RRRRRRANGERS FIELD TESTED." Nothing makes me want to actively avoid a company more than that. Maybe I'm getting too /out/ for this board but everything is made to our military specs. Which aren't that impressive once you get a rifle shoved through a shoe box sized hole at you.

I want to say there was an old add with a guy holding a slung AR that says something like "military may use it to protect us, but it's also perfect for you to protect your crop" That was the last good one in my opinion.
>>
>>30238499

The advertising hasn't really changed much. Where companies used to use trick and bullseye shooters we now have OPER8RS and muh SOF. There's a lot of ex-mil running around and these ads work well with them.
