Artificial difficulty is generally a term used when increasing the difficulty makes the AI cheat, or gives them mechanical buffs, or nerfs the player.
To put it in perspective, if you were playing a computer chess game and increased difficulty, artificial difficulty would mean you wouldn't get a more skilled opponent, but someone who is as dumb as before but has two extra queens, or got to use two moves in a row.

here's my 1941 france. I basically didn't go full dyle and instead pulled a reverse-manstein. cut off half of army groups A and B and drove them into the sea. also built up the Armée de l'Air to crush the luftwaffles.
after I pulled this shit the swiss and USA hopped on the allied rape train and invaded italy.
now I'm just going full Ruhr and slapping these silly cunts all the way back to berlin. mother baguette would be proud of me.

I also found that it tends to crash if the Army planner AI thing has to use transports. Not naval invasions, but if you, say, add divisions that are on say, North America to an army and add them to an order on say, South America.

Played the Darthmod as Prussia for a while. Rather difficult since Napoleon seemed to be fielding infinite armies against me constantly, which I would have to repel in costly engagements. I wish eu4 was better, but the lack of a trait system for rules, and everything being limited by mana makes the game really weak. There are some glimmers of what could be a fantastic game under there.

Very casual. Compared to 2, where you're constantly managing production, you barely touch factories. Trade is simplified to 6 resources and controls itself mostly. There is no currency, only total factory production. The AI is totally unaggressive and makes terrible decisions.There are no more order of battle plans, your "commanders" take care of that- you just decide when and where you want to attack. Or you can leave that to your commanders, too.

pretty much. The Division planner is pretty cool, though- you can build a division the way you want it, with multiple support companies and tons of artillery/ AA/ AT and attached infantry, mechanized and tanks. This ends up reflecting how much equipment you need and how strong each division is.
