how the hell did they fuck that up? any guys with LAV experience here? it looked like it was front heavy or something.
>>
>>30218484

What kind of question is, "What went wrong here".

The fucker sank.

If you want to get more autistic, Its pressure below the waterline went lower than its pressure above the waterline, and thus sank.

>>B...BUT I WANT TO KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED.

Yes, the 2 minute video will tell us what happened.

IT DIDN'T SINK

THEY'RE JUST DOING UNDERWATER RECON

OORAH!!!

Marines
>>
>>30218538
Aren't they supposed to close the hatches when making a crossing?
>>
>>30218611

well it looked like guys were coming out the back, so that couldn't help the situation. i think the driver usually keeps his hatch open though, the water isn't supposed to really get in there in any significant amount.

looks like maybe another side/lower hatch was open.

Meanwhile at the Army...

Sometimes they sink. The FDF has pretty much forbidden the amphibious usage of Russian vehicles after a BTR sunk and took 7 people with it.
>>
>>30218484

That looked like a few fatalities waiting to happen.

Water is a scary beast indeed
>>
>>30218628
Yeah, but that doesn't cost a million dollars.
>>
LAVs trying to be AAVs

Nothing new here

YATYAS
>>
AAVs are practically submarines when swimming with a load.

Takes two M88s to recover one sunk to the bottom of an Iraqi river.
>>
>>30218484
I'm starting to think marines are their own worst enemy.
>>
>>30218497
Could they fuck up fucking things up?
>>
>>30218704
LAV25 is about 25 years old. That vehicle is years older than its crew.
>>
>>30218484
these thing just kinda happen...many reasons i would think...didn't say if there were any fatalities.
just like some folks don't know how to drive.
my son showed me a picture online of a m109 paladin that was up to the ballistic shield in water just before christmas at fort hood.
he actually saw it. don't know if it was the same unit that had the recent deaths or not, but would not surprise me.
>>
>>30218884
It was an exaggeration, but regardless, it will cost something to pull out and fix.
>>
>>30218916
>my son showed me a picture online of a m109 paladin that was up to the ballistic shield in water just before Christmas at fort hood.

That area in texas has had some serious flooding, i doubt it was driven into the water.
>>
>>30218805
They get lucky and fuck up "fucking up" enough to get it done right the first time. Think Chaos Theory but so fucked up that its FUCKING AWESOME Fucked up that it fucking works FUCK!
>>

>That area in texas has had some serious flooding, i doubt it was driven into the water.

Shh, the people in this thread aren't hear for facts, they're hear for sensationalism and to call information that refutes their claims "damage control."
>>
>>30219197

that hasn't happened in this thread

just some people calling marines morons

Things like this make me wonder if being chairforce security is better than army infantry.

whats next OP
are you gonna tell us how the air force crashed a plane, or how the navy sank a ship, what about the army what will they do wrong next that is so surprising to you?
>>
>>30219779
wish i could find it...it was on a facebook page for military fuckups...sorry, but i'm not into facebook.
my son wanted to take a few snaps, but because of who he was with was unable too. troops with a vehicle on the other side of the crossing was who took the photo.
>>
>>30218484
Marine here hailing from 2d LAR (LAVs). The amphibious feature is just there to sound cool. If we make a water crossing of any kind, we have to grease up all the hatches. It's extremely sketchy. But other than that they are great vehicles. 25mm is really useful
>>
Marines breaking expensive toys? Nothing new here.
>>
>>30220020
Of course, leave being amphibious to the Amtrackers.

My hog never let me down back when I was off committing acts of amphibiousity
>>
>>30220709
No one actually wants to do swim ops. It's usually some mortard CO that makes us do it.
>>
>>30218484
LAV 25 is getting too heavy to float, that's been an issue since the first service life extension program. It's a damn shame but when you want to float, you really just should make a boat, not a weird boat-car-IFV hybrid.
>>
>>30218628
>Oh
>>
>>30220020
great vehicles for peace time sure
Shit vehicles for any sort of combat

But thats the whole inventory of everything in the marines
>>
>>30221096
How do you figure. We took them to afghanistan. Sure they aren't the greatest vehicle, but that main gun literally fucks things/people up. Plus they carry a team of scouts. We had a huge AO and they performed well
>>
>>30221129
Afghanistan was just hunting some light infantry insurgents, with no need to actually WIN the war either.
Taliban is stronger now than in 2001, the afghan government would fall apart instantly if the US left
>>
>>30218484
Apparently they forgot the plugs.
>>
>>30221129
He's just shitposting, no IFV has ever consistently stood the test of asymmetric warfare, or river crossing. They really are just the newest kind of light tank/tank destroyer, good only for fire support and ambushing armor from cover with an escape root. Wait for the next Fulda Gap scenario to be set up and we'll even be mobilizing the Bradley again.
