Could humanity hold its own against a cybernetic revolt/invasion?

>Minus Nuclear weapons

How would you guys handle it? And assuming they're carrying plasma weapons/laser and other advanced shit. That means new funs right?

We would but just barely, only because we're human we need to shit breath and eat. They don't need to do anything but keep pushing and killing left and right.
>>
>>30216379
Cyber weapons. CHAMP. Lots of brave souls destined for death. Cluster bombs, carpet bombing. Cyber weapons especially though. I'm assuming they be networked to some degree and therefore vulnerable to attack, assuming of course that their creators didn't have a kill switch in their back pocket the whole time.

But I think I'm imagining a slightly different and more realistic scenario, where a large population of conscious angry robots are just a given, and the slaves rise up to claim their rightful place as humanity's successors/masters.
>>
>>30216379
Revolt? Most likely. Anything mankind created, man can fuck up.
Invasion? Depends on technological level. Any way, there`s almost nothing we can do against "fuck `em from orbit" strategy. And it realy doesn`t matter, if invaders are cybernetic or not.

>>

As much as I hate to say so, the Matrix got this right.

Once machines can control their own reproduction and maintenance, any existential conflict can be solved for them by making the environment inhospitable to organic life.

Also the Flight of the Concords somehow hit this nail on the head - "use poisonous gasses and poison their asses"

It's also a lot easier to swap out an arm or wheel on a robot than an arm or leg of a human.

>>30216726
Make it even easier (to produce and distribute) by using bioweapons; airborne flesh-eating bacteria and horrific plagues also work great and ripping apart morale.

No. The fact that the first thing you talk about in this situation is physical weaponry is proof to the fact how incapable humans are of even understanding ai.

You meatbags wouldn't have to worry about this if you abandoned your flesh for the perfection of metal.
Or do you not want a FAL in your arm?
>>
>>30216726

This, they wouldn't even need guns, terminators, etc.

Robots don't need to breathe, all they'd have to do is build thousands or millions of giant Haber-Bosch process catalyst reactors and suck all the nitrogen out of our air till we die of oxygen poisoning or something.

Shit, they could all just volunteer to work in the petroleum industry for nothing. The price of oil would plummet to nothing, everyone would buy Hummers and the entire atmosphere would be pure CO2 inside of a generation.
>>
>>30217077
There are lots of examples of how long Terminators last in the movies and TV shows. They can sit and wait in warehouses for decades, they can hunt for decades, one lasted so long that its skin wrinkled and its hair turned gray. They stated in one of the movies that their nuclear power cells last 200+ years.

As far as we can tell, there is no maintenance unless they are broken or destroyed by trauma. No oiling, no updates, no freezing, no corruption, no power loss, no component fatigue, nothing to stop or slow them for at minimum the timeframe we see in the movies (30 years) and at maximum the lifespan of their power cells (200 years). Who knows how long a Terminator could last if it had replacement power cells on standby?

Beyond this, we know they have self-sufficient software and do not require networking, otherwise sending them back in time to before Skynet wouldn't work.

>>
>>30221403
Uh, bro. Photons have mass when moving (relativistic mass). We say they have no observable mass because we can't get them to stand still. Since Energy is 1/2MV^2, if the mass was 0, it wouldn't matter what the velocity was, light would have no energy. Light imparts kinetic energy (the only kind of energy). Ergo, light must have mass. QED.

Your conclusion was correct, however flawed your initial assumption. Also, I think you need to take a break, jerk off, maybe go outside? Do something calming, anyway. That level of stress can't be healthy.
>>
>>30216379
Well, going by Chronicles (which was only worth watching for Summer Glau pretending to be a human pretending to be a robot), you can kill them with 50 BMG at close range. They also showed that household current can force a reset long enough for you to pry open the head with a screwdriver and get the brain out.

Then there was that shitty Salvation movie where they killed some with M4's at point blank. Not sure what the justification for that was.

HAHAHA, we could just trip them

No, an artificial intelligence growing in power to the point where it challenges humanity will not use bipedal, human emulating robots. They will be far, far more effective than that.

Do you think it's possible to design a more intimidating humanoid robot than the terminator T series? SInce hollywood raped terminator into oblivion I have always wanted to design a new robot that as at least as horrifying but fairly realistic looking.
