Euro. British SMLE 3 in .303 Bitish

>>30216078
British SMLE 3 from 1916. Paid 545 for it. Barrel is pretty good looking for being 100 yeas old.
>>
>>30216102
That's clearly a Rhodesian Mauser newfag

Yeesh, over payed a little. I see SMLEs go for under 400 all the time
>>
>>30216076
Almost took the b8. Saw your name and I got a chuckle.
>>
>>30216124
World War One variants going for that much? I mean the thing is in pretty good shape in my opinion.
>>
>>30216109
You overpaid, but that happens. It's a nice (if absolutely hideous) rifle.
>>
>>30216063
year price make numbers match? answer those and we can tell you more
>>
>>30216134
99% of them were refurbished at one point so you just got the date going for you.
>>
>>30216134
I payed 350 for my New Zealand made SMLE from 1918.
>>
Why don't you go post in the milsurp or recent acquisitions thread instead of being a faggot
>>
>>30216139
I'll have to check later. I bought it in Montana and have to have it shipped to Colorado because Governor Lickenpooper decided to be a total faggot.
>>
>>30216124
>>30216136
dont listen to these retards OP, they didnt even ask for factory, date, rare markings. i have seen SMLEs go for over $1,500 depending on subtype, rarity, etc

very handsome. Here's mine. Australian Lithgow #1 Mk.3 made in 1917.
>>
>>30216157
I'll have to do some more research on the rifle later and see what I can find. Could be a rare weapon in disguise. It's from 1916 though.
>>
>>30216158
does that have the cut for a Mag Cut-off?
>>
>>30216158
OP here. Tis beautiful my nugget.
>>
>>30216168
Did it say No.1 MKIII or No.1 MKIII *
>>
>>30216176
I don't recall a star on the tag. Need to check the barrel later. What do the markings mean?
>>
>>30216169
I honestly don't know enough about this rifle to answer your question, can you dumb it down?
>>
>>30216190
those markings would be on the stock band under the bolt handle. No.1 MkIII is the older version with the volley sights and the mag cut off. No.1 MkIII* means it doesnt have volley sights and may or may not have a mag cut off

There is a hole on the right side of the receiver or at least it looks like there is one. A magazine cut off should be there

I agree that its kid of a silly thing but having one would make the rifle a little more complete and you dont ever really have to use it. Plus its only 30 bucks. not like you are going to break the bank buying one
>>
>>30216385
That's a good point. Also I now have the urge to display my raifu like that somewhere.
>>
>>30216401
Make sure there is a hole for the screw to go into in the receiver. If you still have the slot im sure the screw hole is still there as well

the ammo availability is my favorite part, i just wish the stock wasnt so crusty and the metal globbed over with iron gate paint

no that one doesn't

>>30216145
But why? These threads are great. Newguns invariably overpay for some memegun and we get to laugh at them
>>
>>30216063
They're kind of neat as a curio and relic gun.
If you have the extra room in your storage area, then its ok i guess.

Right now i'm trying to reduce the number of different calibers i have, so my old milsurp rifles are the first to go. I just want to get down to a few basic calibers like 5.56, 7.62neato, 9mm, 45acp and 12ga.

Kinda neat to wander into a thread and see someone post my gun

God knows I did.
$1600 for a Remington 7615.
I got ripped off and I learned.

My LGS has a SMLE from 1913 beat to hell for $250. Rifling still OK though. Should I do it?

It honestly looks pretty bad

Pic related: a 1916 that is actually in good shape
>>
>>30216149
Thats not how federal laws work.
>>
>>30217593
Yeah do it, pre-war No1s aren't that common so there's collector's value and interest there, and if the rifling is good any Enfield for $250 is a good deal. I would get it checked for headspace by a gunsmith though because it's probably been through 2 wars and who knows how much firing, though it's not likely to be an issue if it still has its original bolt and is as it was when it left military service.

Milsurp fags are funny.

Summerfag plz go
>>
>>30218088
Not refurbished. All matching no import mark bringback that sat hidden in an attic for almost 70 years
>>
>>30217633
It does for Colorado. There's like six states that took the laws for buying a pistol and applied them to buying any firearm out of state. It went into effect Jan 1 of this year.
>>
>>30218139
Than its not a WWI smle summerfag use the math you learned in grade school
>>
>>30217945
>assuming I don't already have AR or AK or shotgun or a 30-06.

Fuck off dude, nobody asked you.
>>
>>30218158
Lol. You must not see the stock disc or adjustable rear sight.

Its a mkiii* in the transitionary period.
>>
>>30218302
Well then it wasn't sitting in an attic for seventy years unless it was lucky enough to be used in two wars. And unless I am literally retarded that kinda looks like a spike bayonet mount.
But I must not know much about a picture. Where I can't see some of the gun. But it does look like the stock was refinished at some point. Wood doesn't last this long without wear
>>
>>30217945
Manually operated rifle design has not applicably improved since the late 19th century. Plus the Lee action is way smother then any other sub 500$ rifle I've tried.
>>
>>30216287
Don't worry I have an indian no.1 mk 3. I paid only $130 for it though.

This was my first Enfield. I sold it about a year and a half ago, I wanted another No4 instead. After a while with this I found I liked the No4s better and my eyes like the sights better.

It was a nice rifle though, if I had sorted the bedding out it would have been a good shooter. But it came back from Bahrain with a mismatched bolt and missing the little upwards pressure plunger in the fore-stock.
>>
>>30218368
>spike mount

Yea, you're retarded. No No1 ever had a spike mount.

I never said the gun was 70 years old. I said it sat in an attic for 70 years. The guy who brought it back used it until he died in the '40s, at which point it went to the attic.

You are so fucking stupid its unbelievable.
