>when we say military grade we mean...
That when you need a new tire you throw the truck out and order a new one from a contractor?
>>
New f-150 "military grade"
Dream on
>>
What are these huge trucks actually for?
>>
>>30213632
The times when I've needed to be able to tow a small car, or fill the bed with gravel, or haul furniture, or carry large amounts of lumber. That's when it's nice to have a full size pickup truck.
>>
>>30213632

I tow an 18' trailer twice a month 650 miles, each way. However I am driving a far larger truck than something like OP's post
>>
>>30213600
Depends how you wanna define it. 6061-T6 aluminum is military grade. Various SAE and ASTM standards are comparable (or exceed) military standards, and so on.
>>
stupid fucking trucks, just god awful things to work on.
>>
>>30213669

Bullshit, that truck has a tiny bed.

That looks more like a truck for the guy who wants a truck to drive around like a normal car, aka a retard.

>DROPPING pavers into the bed of a truck
who actually does that?
>>
>>30213845
I don't think you understand what I was saying. The words "military grade" apply to a variety of standards. Like the wheel studs must be case hardened to a depth between .004 and .012in thick. That is a military grade standard (and a SAE one).
>>
>>30213845
all post 2000s trucks sold in America are mall cruisers.
>>
>>30213829
Na, that's a standard 6ft bed, the cab is just ridiculously oversized.
>>
>>30213632
moving a lawnmower, quad, washer/dryer, couch, boxes, fertilizer, sod, tiles, furniture, lumber, parts, bicycles, scrap, gear, whatever.
getting from A to B in shit tier conditions

I drive a Tacoma. Most days I wish I bought a Civic or some shit, but it's really fucking nice to just be able to throw whatever the fuck I need in the back and go about my business.

It's nice for gym clothes, too. I can just throw the mesh bag in the bed without stinking up the cab.

If memory serves, in 2016 I've moved a full dining room set, two couches, a love seat, 300lbs of aggregate, a fuckton of boxes from two moves,

Also, taking deer without a pickup is pretty shit. With a bed you just drop it off at the processor. They wrap up a few choice pieces and the rest gets split between what they can sell and charity. Then you just hose off the bed. It takes a while for the blood smell to go away, but after a while it's fine. It keeps critters away, too.
>>
>>30213904
Full bed is 8ft, but I get your point. Now those 4' beds are pretty cute.
>>
>>30213932
Not for the F150. The "standard" bed is 6ft (or 6.5, I forget) and 8 is a "Extension".
>>
>>30213960
KEK, really? Get fucked Ford.
>>
>>30213960
>>30213982
Well how about that. Their standard frame regular cab bed length is 78", with regular cab extended frame at 96". So basically they rebranded the short frame as standard frame.

A lot of people don't use the new standard 150 as a work truck, that's what the extended editions and the 250/350 are for. Especially since most people can't afford them for work, so it'll be a company truck.
>>

Small penis compensation/little man syndrome. Allow me to explain, and no I don't think this applies to guns as much since guns have a legitimate purpose.

Dude buys a big ass school bus with a swimming pool attached to the back, he spends more money on it and pays more for gas just so he can haul air 99.9% of them time. How often do you see trucks hauling stuff? It would be more economical to rent a truck when you need to haul or tow shit. But the dude wants to be the biggest thing on the road because he feels small in person. When hes on the road, he's powerful and relatively anonymous.

And don't give me that shit that they're for off-road. Those trucks are designed to haul, not off-road. A subaru or rav4 would be better in those situations, ideally a Jeep or modified small truck but again you had better be able to justify it. How often do you off-road and do you think the paths you take really necessitate a rock-crawler? On-path is not off-road... and those big ass trucks can't even fit on any path I've seen.

Because it endangers other drivers and fucks with my environment. I won't get into global warming, but it's a fact that vehicles pump out toxic chemicals. Many of which harm hormone production in young males, hence the prevalence of cucks.

Those trucks are too high and the headlights blind other drivers. They are heavier and have more momentum meaning they take longer to slow down, increasing the chance of collision, which with a normal sized car will be devastating to the other driver.
>>
>>30214269
>Dude buys a big ass anti material rifle with a hubble telescope attached to the top, he spends more money on it and pays more for ammo just so he can shoot paper 99.9% of the time. How often do you see guns shooting people?

You logic applies exactly the same to guns and you are a huge faggot.
>>

Sell the tacoma and get a civic + 25 year old hilux or equivalent. The Hilux (or equivalent, Hiluxes are pretty rare in NA) assuming you need better all terrain utility than the civic with a small trailer can provide, which is possibly not the case because civics have pretty decent offroad capability.
Trailers aren`t a terrible option, apart from being frumpy as all hell and a pain in the ass they`re cheap and have good capacity.
>>
>>30214362
Heavier vehicles have bigger brakes anon. And also I can park my truck better and turn a tighter radius than most of the college kids around me that drive their small cars. I have been blinded more times by faggets in a ricer with shitty hid headlights than by 'huge pickups' that you seem to be so intimidated by also.

Self defense is a right, driving is a privilege according to our laws. I would argue you have the right to free travel (with obvious exceptions like border control).

They already do regulate large vehicles, you have to get a class A license with special training to drive something larger than a certain size (they also already regulate guns, I'm not the one arguing that but apparently it's already been argued). I'm saying you shouldn't be able to drive something 4x bigger and heavier than normal cars because you feel like it. It's an unnecessary danger that serves little purpose. They should be specially licensed to people who own businesses thay require them like logging or light construction. I'm sick of seeing them everywhere on the road endangering others just because someone has to compensate for something.

The thing with the pavers was admittedly a stunt but it was a stunt that the Chevrolet didn't have a problem with and that the Ford failed miserably. I'd be more concerned with the toolbox falling two feet and punching a hole in the bed. That's kind of fucked up.

Breh. This is my ride. She's a modest two-door SUV with a 4WD system that is unreliable at best. Her primary advantages are excess of cargo space for my funs and tables, and an coincidentally uncanny case of superb weight balance on all four wheels.

>>

Yeah but if you saw how many of them were on the road you'd think otherwise. It's not just trucks, but big ass boat SUVs too. Every other car is fucking massive. That creates a concern not only with safety during a crash/rollover but other drivers in normal vehicles can't see over or around them. Standardization and regulation would benefit everyone on the roads safety.

God you're so cuck'd. Factory farming and just major factories do much more damage than burning fuel in vehicles. Also you can convert any diesel into a bio based fuel burner(smells like french fries). Last point is that any Hybrid with a lithium battery does just as much environmental damage if not more. The mining and disposal of the batteries chemicals is extremely toxic and destructive. Not to mention it endorses shitty labor practices in developing nations.

>I'm a bitch who's scared of big bad trucks

Semi trucks/buses etc are much larger and more dangerous than 1/2-1 ton pickups/suvs. Plus as stated above. They do put larger brakes along with other size correct components to make them extremely safe.

chevys is worse than uconnect.

at least the options and setup on uconnect are understandable.

I have a ram and drove a dart for work, and also rented 2 chevys last year, a cruze and a a 2500 HD.

the 2500 touch screen and "mylink" was totally fucking unuseable with the cruze being better, but still not as user friendly as the uconnect.

I test drove an F150 in november and actually really liked fords set up for the limited amount of time i got to use it.

my big problems with uconnect are
1) not being able to actually turn the screen totally off
2) the startup/legal accept page takes to long. (imo it shouldnt even be there)
3) blutooth never has a problem with the phone but sometimes doesnt immediately connect my music, though this could an issue with the phone
4) a mute button instead of being able to just turn the while damn thing "off"

I once witnessed a sheboon jumping up in her seat and bobbing her head around aggressively to the music while she was in the middle of a turn in a busy intersection. Her eyes weren't even open.

Also, I'm almost killed by the elderly and the soon to be elderly on a daily basis.

I'm going to change my vote for second to middle aged women. Even teenage girls have more common sense on the road and that's scary.

Fords have the best diesel, with Dodge a close second (and third now, with their eco-diesel).

However, it's 2016 and Ford is still fucking using vacuum switches, which fail all the fucking time and are approximately 9083719380471203912349871230978 times more expensive to replace than solid-state switches. Plus on all their vehicles (including super duties) underbody coating costs extra instead of being a standard feature.

Like, come on, Ford. The M113 is one of the worst protected, most dangerous vehicles when it comes to facing enemies armed with anything larger than a PKM. IIRC a large chunk of deaths in Israel's Operation Protective Edge in summer 2014 were due to rocket strikes on aluminum armored M113s they got ceap from America, which has further increased and fast tracked Namer APC procurement by the IDF.

Find the area on one of the doors midway between the steel bars that are the frame, and just put your fucking fist right through. The thing about aluminum is that it shears extremely easily, any amount of force that can dent a steel door will tear an aluminum door. I don't think all of the rocket strikes on the M113 were roof strikes. The Namer has massive slopes and looks pretty sleek. I don't know if the IDF will publish thickness data, though. They tend to be pretty secretive about that.

I don't own a construction company but I live out in the country, every fucking year I get run off the road by a combine harvester. They don't pave regularly. There are irregular roads and gradings. There are fallen branches from Midwestern windstorms. That shits real, and a truck is a very valid reason for dealing with stuff. Sometimes I hail stuff for my grandma. I've even had to use the winch to pull out a stump, or fence posts.
Sometimes I put a ton of mulch and fertilizer in my bed for my private garden. My fucking poppies and tomatoes won't grow themselves (well poppies will, those are the AK of flowers). Like it or not, a truck is a perfectly valid vehicle for those of us living in a world where "road" isn't a guarantee.

Truck brake pads are proportionally larger to compensate. They aren't THAT much worse fuel wise than cars just a decade ago. And frankly private vehicles are an insignificant portion of carbon in the atmosphere; if you want to shit bricks look at global sea-shipping and malt oil engines.

Just because a honda civic fits MOST people doesn't mean it works for ALL people, nor does it mean the state should have a right to tax someone and approve their vehicle based on some exaggerated concerns for safety and carbon scare.

There have been quite a few issues with more than just suspension. Electronics, shitty interiors, and infamous Dodgerust (on the pre-RAMs at least) to name a few.

Regardless, if I were looking for a new truck, I'd go Ford SD and get the luddite special with the gas engine, manual locking hubs and manual T-Case select (ESOF a shit), and no electronic locking axle. I'll even skip out on the CD player and settle for a radio only. I've looked around and something like this might cost $30,000 for a 250 and $33,000 for a 350

>300C shit its first transmission in under 7k miles

No, they are not 'functionally' the same. 6xxx series Aluminum is heat treatable and and has better machining properties, along with higher tensile strengths, especially after heat treatment.

they started putting plastic inside the wheel wells to actuall keep water and salt out and changed up their paint.

dodge has been good with the recalls

i havent had any interior problems on my current ram or the last ram, though the last ram the engine shit the bed at 130,000 miles, though to be honest im not sure that was from a combination of me absolutely hammering on it all the time and piss poor maintence, or because there was something wrong with the engine to begin with.

mine came with rhino lining in the bed and if you get them undercoated you should be good to go.

there is definately a noticeable difference in quality between the fords and rams though.

>>
>>30216304
I know they do. My point is that people advertising something as "military grade" or "aircraft quality" usually don't have the certifications because it costs more.

In Ford's case, I'm sure they are getting some sort of quality report due to the amount of material they are ordering, but I doubt they are specifically getting military or aerospace certifications because they don't have any need for it.
>>
>>30216311
In Euroland they do

Automakers are generally phasing out manuals because a modern automatic is usually more efficient and more reliable.
>>

Their certs all say "Passes X specification" and they come with the test data and occasionally a histogram. It's no different than a cert for General Dynamics or BAE or anyone else who requests such a cert. Then there are tests and specifications not called out for by A2LA accreditation but are specifically required none the less, such as Vickers hardness or grain flow analysis.

Smaller trucks can be highly practical, but it always kills me when I see some dude with a big V-8 truck for hauling a 16' boat. A 4 cylinder will do that just fine. It's a size thing. I drove a 4 cyl 4x4 Tacoma with a manual transmission for 10 years, and it did pretty much everything people list as big truck uses, except for hauling cars and trailers which have brake controllers. When you own one and need to use it, yes.
But I would recommend something like this or a Defender so you can go offroad.

Well the F-150 is small, I help my friend by loading dirt, gravel or anything in his F-250 and that thing is large. Also it's nice when you have to tug around a huge dump trailer

No, ARs use 7075.

Foreigners get out. Our laws are ours just like our rights. Quit trying to fuck with them.

You don't have to leave the highway for a shitty, unmaintained road. Just drive down I75 in MI.

So all you need to tow safely is a hitch?

Furthermore, you are telling me land rovers dont come with hitches? Absofuckinglutly disgusting.

Yeah I'm sure your shitbox Corolla can safety tow as much with one of these stupid things as a normal truck can.

Are car cucks usually this stupid?

If you gave a fuck about the environment you would know that vehicles produce a tiny portion of greenhouse gases.
>>

>>30218001
Of course you can only tow as much as your vehicle can take but that's why I said to use it with something like a G-class or a Defender.
If you only haul something once a week or even less there is no reason to drive a big truck other than wanting to feel big and intimidate others.

Refugee or Nigger? Be honest.

It really does come down to money and sour grapes. These are the same type of fucks who bitch if your clothes are decently nice, own a nice watch or have a gun that's not a glock.
Also, fuck the environment, do you really think what you do personally matters when factories all over the world pump out kilotons of greenhouse gasses daily? You'd have to dedicate your life to burning tires and styrofoam.
>>
>>30218087
>do you really think what you do personally matters
>that pic
You can't be serious.
It has been proven again and again that car free zones help with polluted air in big cities but I guess it wasn't the traffic afterall.
