Just how reliable are these things, actually? I can't imagine a cheaper gun to shoot "reliably," and I'm thinking about getting something small for concealed carry, but this little thing almost looks like a fake gun.

they are surprisingly decent. also if you get one that doesnt function well, hi point's CS and warranty is great. i think they fix your gun and send you a free magazine with it for your troubles

the large caliber ones (.40 and .45) are garbage. straight blowback designed for +p ammo tends to limp wrist due to the design being impractically heavy, and the mag QC is so bad that it could potentially jam every round.
dunno about the 9mm and the .380. I would surmise that they're still shit with anything other than +p ammo, though.
the selling point of the highpoint wasnt reliability or accuracy (until the memes took over), but that it was a jamal-affordable weapon in a design that doesn't routinely explode like Jennings or bryco.
