Can we get a /k/ clothing thread going? Post quality pieces of clothing. Non autistic t-shirts, jackets, pants, belts, anything welcome.

Pic related.

Really nice quality cotton / canvas jacket, can wear it comfortably when I'm carrying in 75 to 80° weather with jeans and a T-shirt.

It's probably way too big for me now because I've lost weight sense I bought it (it does come with the neck-wrap-thing). It felt (and looked) fantastic when I got it and goes extremely well with jeans and plain t-shirts. Keeps the autismo-milsurp power level low-key as well so that's a plus too. It also comes with matching pants too ( https://grey-shop.ru/Special-suits/Gorka-Suits/Gorka-3-Ana )

(I'm not sure if I still have it because like I said, I've lost weight and probably donated it to some place like goodwill but if I can find it I will post pics) And yes I do absolutely recommend it if you live in cold-ish areas.
>>
>>30213742

Did it have any sort of water resistance at all?

Also, was the hood just a normal sized hood or was it on the large side? Also, was the hood made of the same material as the rest of the jacket or was it crappy/flimsy?

The past 2 winters I've wanted to buy a milsurp jacket with a hood, but most are a bullshit plasticky afterthought (I'm looking at you, M65/Czech M85). This jacket looks like a decent fabric, almost like a Carhartt but probably not as thick

It did have some water resistance but not as much as something like a true Gorka 4 Bars or something along those lines. So it will keep you relatively dry when it rains or when you get water on you.

The hood size was normal to me and it was the same material is the jacket (pretty good quality, some-what plastic-y but not really *that* noticeable).

Sorry for the crappy picture but it's all I could find in the mean-time while I look for the one I had. Over-all it's a pretty decent jacket-pants combo for only ~$110 (shipping included). Here's what it will look like (and also be warned that it's more of an olive-green color than the nearly coyote brown color it looks like from the store page).

There's a pretty big difference between two strips of leather that hold your pants up (or in this case, probably not even hold the pants up as much as look a little nicer) and two pieces of machinery with many moving parts made of varying qualities of metal and varying quality control

You go ahead and tell me what the $470 dollar belt does that the $50 belt doesn't. Comparing a Hi-Point to a HK or Sig or vintage Colt is one thing, but belts?

If you want them, you can definitely afford them. They're called Alico Tahoes I just checked and STP is selling these for $110 on a closeout. I've had these for 6 years and they're still running strong. I got myself a second pair.

There's also an even better model, the Summit, with a thicker outsole and upper. They're best for more intensive hiking. I'm very much autismo and got myself a second pair of these as well.

Once you get a pair of these you'll never want to go back to glued soled boots

Oh I totally agree as far as dressing for the job you want meme. Don't spend more than a grand on a suit though especially if you don't have plans to go into law or politics. A good suit says you're serious about the opportunity but doesn't project too much autism.
Good luck.
Most PD's in my area have "now hiring" billboards, but they're very selective because a white guy won't fit diversity standards, or there are so many veterans applying they're hoping somebody with a criminal justice degree will take the bait so they can seem professional.

m8 a used car salesman goes to Men's Warehouse. Go to your local outlet for a name brand, they will fit you and sell you a good suit, or sell you the closest thing and recommend a tailor. Like I said, the Brooks Brothers outlets are a great source or your local "men's wear" shop, and use your discretion for what looks like a Ted Cruz "this Buick is great!" or a plain and simple suit. The tie and shirt is half the battle anyways, that's where you should spend your money. Pic related is the tie I wore when I was hired by a Texas firm

Suit is standard for police/fire interviews. Not wearing a suit is basically suicide if you've made it that far.

You always wear the "highest" level of dress to any interview for the position you want. Fire/Police have Class As which are considered formal tailored suits. Its not like you wear it every day, but it is part of the job.

I have never heard of a department or agency that has held interviews where the panel or board has not been in business attire to include suits themselves and or a class A type dress without cap and jacket.
>>
>>30216628
Thanks for confirming I wasn't being a paranoid cunt about wearing a suit

>>
>>30216634

Different anon. Definitely invest in a decent suit. As a guy who hires and fires for a government department I can assure your that clothes do maketh the man.
>>
>>30216668

http://www.barneys.com/ralph-lauren-purple-label-anthony-two-button-suit-504406993.html
>>
>>30216628
I did that once. Didn't realize it was an interview and came in business casual and not a suit. Thought it was just a meeting with the person who would do my background check. Pretty much an auto drop at that point regardless of my references.

Ironically I had worn a suit to the oral interview before that because it was stated to be an interview.
>>
>>30216634

Yea, you don't want to be that guy who under dresses for a public safety interview. I know of guys who have done that, and its pretty much career suicide.

Just remember, a good suit shows you are serious, professional and can dress yourself to look appropriate.

The job you are applying for requires all of those traits.

As far as what type of suit you go for, make sure its classic. Slim fit is fine if it works for you and your body shape, but avoid anything flashy and over the top. You are interviewing for a public government job. Be G-man boring, but smart.

I wore a dark navy ralph lauren wool suit I bought for $400 and had some alterations made to it. It was a pretty simple suit, but did the job.

The biggest thing as the other anon mentioned is shirt and tie. You don't want to take your jacket off during the interview, but depending on how long the process is and what kind of assessment center they have (which may be on the same day as a panel or officers interview) you may be in a position where it is appropriate to take the jacket off. If you do you are going to want a nice fitting shirt. Most store bought shirts don't fit unless you are a fucking fat ass. You are going to have to get it altered and perhaps darted.

That is a good suit.

When I mean nothing flashy, I have seen the three pieces start to come back. That might be a bit much for an interview.

That suit is perfect.

I don't know who you are, where you are and what is "stylish". I just mean wear something presentable and simple but good. That RL suit is modern and simple, looks clean cut. It would work.

Don't show up in a three piece tux, don't show up in a gold pin-stripped zoot suit.

I just wanted to make this clear.

I would try that on and not buy it online. Also know that the mandarin, flat, whatever they are calling that type of collar now, doesn't work for everyone and if you have a chubby face as some folks do, it really makes it look fat.

Suits are personal as fuck, make sure you go try it out and get fitted and bring someone along who knows what looks good as I have had some tailors and salesmen try to sell me jokes.
>>
>>30216752

Referring to the shirt, not the jacket. That shirt collar is very popular right now but looks like shit on most guys that wear it.

>>30216744

Yea, you got the point.

Also as you can probably tell, I am not expert. I just am a dude that has worn a few suits for interviews, weddings and work functions where I am not in a Class B or A like at some conventions/conferences and training programs.

There are probably more versed folks that can give better advise, but for what its worth I am a government worker that went through what it is you are trying to go through.
>>
>>30216678

No problems with this. Main thing is that you look and sound the part. Looking clean cut and well groomed takes care of the conservative elements you may encounter when facing a panel.

A dark color is best. Recommend a solid color tie or a tie that you'd see some business dude wear. And to sound like your dad, make sure you have well presented shoes.

I have sat on a panel and had conservative members tut-tut and express disapproval when people come in with obviously dyed hair, poor grooming (stubble beard) and visible earrings despite being well informed, well educated and well spoken.
>>

>>30216775
>And to sound like your dad, make sure you have well presented shoes.
For sure, make sure the whole look is done properly, don't want to have shitty looking or wrong colored shoes.
>I have sat on a panel and had conservative members tut-tut and express disapproval when people come in with obviously dyed hair, poor grooming (stubble beard) and visible earrings despite being well informed, well educated and well spoken.
I don't have any of that or any tattoos but I am a minority. Will that fuck me over a little? If everyone on the panel is white or black(the cities I applying to are very urban, 'chocolate cities')

>>
>>30216819

I don't think it would. Most people these days do not wear watches, not with phones and other devices.

For a public safety job if you do wear a watch its going to be a cheapo throw away watch or something rugged that you wouldn't wear with a suit to an interview anyways.

I buy shitty casios and timex watches and leave a few in my locker at work. Majority of the guys I work with don't even wear watches, a few have some more pricey but durable watches like Suunto's and Luminox.
>>
>>30216819
It is not as expected these days, but I feel watches are even more important in formal and business environments so you arent the guy clawing out a phone to check the time which can be misconstrued.
>>
>>30216837
I mostly wear a G-Shock but I have a Seiko Diver that I'd wear if I was interviewing. pic related
>>
>>30216848

That is good. I wouldn't feel obligated to wear it, but if I wanted to wear a watch that would be a nice one. I probably wouldn't wear a rolex to a public safety interview, for the same reasons I wouldn't wear a three piece or something totally out there and "new age fashion".

You want to look smart and professional but remember this is a government job.
>>
>>30216845
I feel as decades go on no one is going to give a shit if you glance at your phone. Right now the old guys are still dying off. I'm part of the generation where we didn't have cell phones til maybe high school at earliest and I don't care
>>
>>30216787

Not really. Basic rule of thumb I use if they turn up looking worse than most employees and look as well dressed as what the management usually wear, it is not a problem.

Main thing is to remember that if you pull a government job, you will be representing the county, city, state and all that corporate bullshit. You need to present a conservative and businesslike appearance. Save the flip-flops and Hawaiian shirt for casual friday.

I actually had a dude turn up for an interview who was overdressed. I was looking for a plumber with gas and boiler experience. I had a Sikh immigrant (complete with turban) turn up in a 3 piece Wall Street suit, Haliburton briefcase and Bruno Mali shoes. He was some sort of advanced engineering Phd who was desperate for a job. I had to explain to him that the job actually entailed getting covered in all sorts of vile shit and working in the field with some fairly rough and ready blue collar types. I gave the job to the young army vet who showed me pics of him patching a ruptured high pressure sewerage pipe in Iraq. He was literally swimming in a river of flowing shit up to his armpits. All I said was "You've obviously seen some serious shit. You got the job."
