>tfw Norwegian police settled on Arc'teryx as their new jacket supplier
>>
Waste of money.
>>
Fuckin richfag Norwegians getting all the nice shit.

I can't wait for the world to wean itself off oil so all these petrostate faggots can go back to being poor-ass dirt farmers
>>
>>30209144
Overpriced? Yes, I'd say so. But they are very well made.
>>
>>30209157
None of that has anything to do with my comment.
>>
>>30209165

see

>>30209145

Norway doesn't give a shit about the concept of "wasted" money, they have infinite wells of money under their entire country
>>
>>30209175
CSB. Why do you keep dragging my comment into yours?
>>
>>30209145
>the world
>ever weaning itself off oil
The only thing stopping them from going full Dubai is the cold, stoic belief everything will go to dead and permafrosted shit.

Kind of neat they said they'd shut down the borders in the event Sweden's welfare state collapses though.
>>
>>30209134
is it the LEAF Alpha for sure? or the LT?

i have the LT and desu i like it more than the alpha
>>
>>30209222
looks like the alpha due to the fact it has a stoweable hood
>>
>>30209165
But it's not a waste of money. They needed to buy jackets from someone, and Arcteryx happens to make very good stuff, plus they cater to the military/LE market. I'm sorry you can't understand a simple concept.
>>
>>30209335
yes i know, but is the alpha actually the one they are adopting?
>>
>>30209145
When you buy gear that's gonna be used for several years you buy quality that will last, not the lowest bidder offer from China.
The leather jacket the police wears now was acquired in 1994. So this arc'teryx jacket is possibly a jacket they're gonna wear for the next 20 years. Might as well get something gud.
>>
>>30209145
Norway was rich before the oil as well. The oil just made them super rich.
>>
>being this rich
>tfw you'll never win the country lottery
You Norwegian anons sure are lucky fags.

Norway has taste
>>
>>30209423
No.
>>
>>30209730
This.

>>30209448
Please, half of memeteryx's line is Chinese made.
>>
>>30209730
Norwegian companies like Norrona, Bergans or Helly Hansen make great outdoor clothes but they're not making not tactical clothes, with the exception of some military style products.
>>
>>30209134
silly cunts.
They're going to waste a shit ton of money if they don't teach their squad some Goretex discipline
>>
>>30209796
as long as a chinese company didn't design it, simply manufacturing it in china isn't an issue
>>
Meh. I want to wear Estonian Desert Camo.
>>
>>30209796
Arcteryx would love to make more things in the first world. The problem is that there isnt enough skilled tailors in the first world. They literally have to make things in china and vietnam and wherever in order to get the quality they want.
>>
>>30209134
Norway just sucks
>>
>>30209730
i have a helly hansen offshore 2 jacket

got it half price thru a proshop discount (was a pro sailing coach for many years). probably the best rain jacket ever made; it can be pissing buckets outside but if i have that thing on i'm perfectly dry, and i don't experience the annoying dampness you get when your coat can't breathe
>>
>>30209843
This must be a pretty reasonable deal, I bet they would not have that much problem developing a more "tactical" line. And the money would stay in Norway. But hey, their money their rules.
>>
>>30209134
Based Norway

>>30209144
>>30209796
Arcteryx is based. I worked in a high end outdoors gear store (way more and way better shit than any REI or EMS), and I poo-poo'd Arcteryx for a long time. Thought they weren't worth the extra few hundred bucks over a mid-tier OR, Mammut, etc. Until I tried one on. H-O-L-Y shit mayne. It's worth the money. How much is your comfort worth to you? $4 bucks per day outdoors? That's a coffee and a donut, and if you spend 50 days outside in shitty weather its like $200 to add to $200 for $400 for a nice jacket.
>>
>>30209134
>settled
poor them. how awful they must "settle" for Arc'Teryx
>>
>>30209144
>poorfags gonna poor

there's a reason that dead bird, and their LEAF line is as popular as it is, Arc'teryx is god-tier
>>
>>30213444
>coats that cost more than rifles

nah, fuck that shit.
>>
>>30213469
Look at it this way: Which will you use more on a daily basis?

Of course, with my luck you live in the Florida swamps or in the middle of the Mojave.

What's a good jacket for everyday/light use?
Budget isn't TOO much of a concern, but it needs to keep me warm and dry in cool weather.
>>
>>30209134
>>30209144
>>30209145

You do realize most domestic (USA) services use gear that probably costs the same if not more. How much do those cost? My agency issues us Gerber parka type coats for winter wear. They are around $500 a pop.
>>
>>30209134
What feel? Are you happy or unhappy about your tax money going to buy ultra overpriced foreign clothes?
>>
>>30213602
A rifle will last decades. A hardshell... yeah well, depends.
>>
>>30216922
The police will protect the tax payers much better with those jackets!
>>
>>30216906
Yes I do realize that. That's why they should have went with a domestic option. It is funny to see people thinking that a $400 jacket is a sign of wealth though. Especially when superior domestic (US) options exist for the same or less money.

Damn must be nice to have the whole country be totally loaded.
>>
>>30213180
Heh. I live int the tropics, and'll never be cold.
Could you elaborate more on how Arcteryx is better ?
