Im looking to make a dedicated 9mm can for my MPX.

Any one have experience with form 1 9mm cans that can give some input? I'll be using SD tactical tubes

Building a fixed can with no booster is super simple, I built one in 223 but mine was a welded

I dont have nor have to room for machining equipment. Pretty much just have a vise and hand tools. Are freeze plugs my only hope or is there a simpler and maybe quieter means of suppression?

Maybe im worrying too much. I dont need the most sound suppressing can in the world, its mainly just to stop me from going completely deaf if I need to use it in an emergency. Its my home defense gun and goes with me when going out of town

I'd look into valve retainers as their usually made of tool steel

Something that looks similar are finishing washers. They're kinda shaped like baffles. i was thinking of making a .22 can from them.
>>
>>30208754
Why would you buy a can though? It's a lot of money for a negligible pro and a lot of cons.

Not filing pics or prints, no local shop has the can im looking for in stock

You can make a cool monocore can with just a drill press and round stock. This one works great and is really easy, only the core, the sleeve, and a set screw.

have you tried yours out? how is suppression?

It's good, it compares to commercial cans just fine. It is aluminum, so the lifespan isn't the best. But on a 300 blk in an open field you can only hear the action rackety clack.
>>

Op I am doing this too. 9mm fixed barrel can. I cannot find the link but I found a guy on a silencer forum who has his own website, maybe an anon can chime in here, it was like xmachinewerks or something. He makes 60 degree formed titanium or stainless steel ""paperweights"" that fit perfectly in a D cell maglite tube. Titanium is $30 a pop, SS is $20. I've got a 7" pipe and whenever my form 1 comes in, I'm going to put 7 or 8 of those in as baffles and put a small spacer pipe in.
>>
>>30209063
That's fascinating, considering it only has 3 baffles. Wonder if its due to the long size and large expansion chambers? I'm not super familiar on what makes one design more or less quiet than the other
>>
>>30209310
Op with this, all you'd have to do is drill a caliber sized hole in the center. I'll be home later tonight; I have it saved on my laptop and I'll link it. Seems way better and more professional than fucking off with freeze plugs.

Slight thread hijack, but when I get to the document section of Form 1 do they just want me to upload my trust paperwork?
>>
>>30209378
Yes.
>>
>>30209327
I'm not sure myself, but it didn't have a lot originally. But each time we opened it up it got better. So we made it really simple and it works good, so as soon as cans become a non-nfa item I'll make em cheap and sell lots. We even threaded both sides for .223 and .308 threads.
>>
>>30209466
Huh. That's really neat. Once I get my form back I'll have to make one and compare it to whatever baffle system I come up with. Would be neat to get a decibel meter to compare
>>
>>30209063
That makes me wonder if the Russians VSS suppressor is as effective as people say. Super simple but effective
>>
>>30209483
Sounds levels are extremely subjective. Shooting in an open field is really whisper quiet, but in the woods in our little quarry it's surprisingly loud.
>>
>>30209063
What are the dimensions on that? I want to do a form 1 when Bitcoin gets high enough.
>>
>>30209063
So I have a question. Diameter? My tube has a 1.375 ID. I can find aluminum round stock with a 1.375 diameter but I wonder if that will fit. 1.370 OD is reccomended for those little "maglite cups" they sell on amazon. What dimensions did you use?
>>
>>30209654
>>30209670

Print is lost, but yea 1.375 stock size
Oh wait, I have a raggedy ass pencil doodle of it. I can take a pic

Anon delivers
>>
>>30209752
Is it a super tight fit? I figure rather than use a set screw and cover, I'll cut the round stock to the same length as my tube and just slide it in
>>
>>30209752
How long is it? I wanted to make what appears to be an MK18 but with a 10.5" 300 blk barrel and a fixed A2 front sight.
>>
>>30209775
Slip fit with o rings to seal it. I put o ring grooves on the core.
>>
>>30209792
It can be any length mine was about 6 inches or so
>>
>>30209772
Is the hole in the threads so it could be pinned and welded so you don't have to get an SBR stamp?
>>
>>30209831
it's for a set screw, the screw hold the sleeve in place so it don't go nowhere, I didn't want to thread the tubing onto the core. too lazy.
>>
>>30209792
would be pretty easy to mock up the silencer style on the mk18. could look really sick
