In for Aero.
>>
>>30204645
At the time the handguard had had the threading stripped out of its retention screw holes, so it was prone to rotating or walking off. A nice tight riser bridge was a quick and dirty fix.
>>
>>30204667
I regret the bad lever man, unfortunately when I got it I started having problems with the screw loosening so I loctited the thing in place.

Now it won't come off and I'm stuck with it.
>>
>>30204714
That's too bad. Idk if you're the anon from the other night but another guy complained about his being locktited in place.

What kind did you use?
Might be able to heat it up with a heat gun and break it free
>>
>>30204732
I am that guy. The loctite wouldn't be such a problem if I still knew where the tiny allen key was that came with the thing. I have a large set of them but none are quite an exact fit and I've semi stripped the screw attempting to loosen it.

If it comes to it I might end up breaking off the entire bolt release and replacing it.
>>
>>30204714
definitely try heating it up. if you have to get it off, you could try epoxying a throwaway allen key in there

That's where you are wrong, on both the original m16 rifle and the current m4 carbine the M203 attached in the same way. Both requiring the removal of the bottom handguard. Be it the polymer hand guard or KAC RAS.so actually that is how some small arms attachments work.

If you are concerned about external ballistics but want to stay short, 12.5", for unsuppressed smoothness you can go 12.5" mid gas as well. If you want to be shorter than a 16" rifle with the can 10.3/10.5".

11.5" is for copouts buying factory rifles that have to be tuned for the dumbest of users.

WAR Upper in combination with an adjustable gas block to fine tune at the start, set and forget is truly the best choice.

Sorry to say that I have a stag arms lefty upper... With that in mind, would you guys suggest a noveske switchblock, govnah or syrac/jp/slr adjustables?

Any concerns on unburnt powder blasting away a suppressor's lifespan for 10.5/10.3? I do plan on using a muzzle brake for sacrificial baffle.

Is the "11.5 > 10.5 due to 40% dwell time" an old bullshit meme?

Thanks for the replies.
>>
>>30208805
I've only had experience with the syrac and it's worked well on my buddies gun but his is an unsupressed 16" gun. I've never suppressed an sbr so I am the wrong guy to ask. I am only going off what I've read. I know the mk18's are extremely popular right now but I haven't started building mine yet so I don't know much about em.

For a single adjustable source, I like the govnah. Order it with the pilot dimples and tune it with a hand drill for the weakest ammo you will shoot. Yes adjustment requires a free bullet or a pokey tool, but you aren't counting clicks or worrying about threaded regulators gumming up with carbon overtime and getting stuck.

The switchblocks are tuned to Noveskes specifications, not your individual rifle and ammo choices. Furthermore touching hot gas blocks with my hands to adjust them or being unable to shroud it with a rail without being limited to the noveske rails always bothered me.

As for blast baffle life on a 10.3/10.5 I use a brake mount so the brake serves as sacrificial baffles as well. How much it helps with a Stellite blast baffle/core on modern designs versus older suppressors that had full stainless baffles is up for debate but it gives me piece of mind.

It is true, however if you are planning on tuning your gas system already then it doesn't matter. It is a concern for those who are just throwing a rifle together and shooting it with anything from the shittiest low power ammo to super mega firebreathing bolt lug cracking handloads.

Wow this board has become insufferable. Your either a civilian or a POG but anyways, I have about 1000 rounds of 62gr pmc green tips and I'll probably shoot downwards of 55gr federal .223 so probably that.

There's always been a few of those dickheads on here. Although, I'm not certain whether that guy was trying to be a dickhead or be helpful.

did you put the barrelextension pin into the corresponding opening on the upper ?
>>

No anon, I'm just being realistic.

Probably 1 in 9 then. You may as well match the barrel to the ammo, and that'll do better than a 1 in 7 for 55gr 223.

1 in 7 will do better with heavy, but if you're not really planning on shooting them why bother?

Just being realistic. If you aren't going to shoot a lot heavy projectiles, and instead shoot a lot of 55gr cheapo, you may as well get the barrel for that ammo.

>noveske switchblock, govnah or syrac/jp/slr adjustables?
Noveske if you want to quickly switch from suppressed to unsuppressed, i like my slr but it's not for constant adjustment.
> Any concerns on unburnt powder blasting away a suppressor's lifespan for 10.5/10.3?
As long as you aren't magdumping all day, a brake will only extended the life by a few thousand rounds, i suggest using a brake just to make the can quieter.
> Is the "11.5 > 10.5 due to 40% dwell time" an old bullshit meme?
Yes but you can just open the gas port up and fix that.
