Let's hear about the best deals you've come across. I'll start with mine. I've posted it once before but it was 9 months ago when I got it.

>huge gun auction comes up
>older gentleman passed away. Had a huge collection and his family decided to auction it off.
>there were 15ish shotguns, 12ish rifles, 10 "foreign military rifles" and like 65 revolvers
>auction website didn't know jack shit about the 10ish milsurp rifles he had and only took pics of a few (beat up type 99 Arisaka, beat up Turk mauser and an SKS) so I didn't really know what was all there.
>get to auction. In addition to what I stated, there was a totally hacked up no4 Enfield, a few sporterized Mosins and a beautiful M96 Swedish Mauser. All matching, no import mark, bore looks perfect, a few small dings in the stock so like 9/10 condition. Had a cleaning rod but no sling.
>was really interested in that Mauser and Arisaka, but the bore on the Arisaka looked like a sewage pipe so my interest nosedived.
>of course the milsurp rifles go last so I have to hang out for a couple hours while people grossly overpay for all these revolvers.
>crowd gradually thins out
>M96 comes up
>bid opens at $200
>random guy bids
>I bid $225 immediately after
>nobody else bids so I win
>buy the Hornady dies and 100 soft point bullets later for $30 total and buy 120 rounds for like $90 (overpaid a little bit but damnit I wanted the rounds and the brass)

So yeah. That's my story. I also bought a mostly matching M39 in beautiful shape aside from some very minor bore pitting for $270 in February, got a spam can for $110 from the guy too.

Let's hear your stories.

> Call him

> Buy rifle, even has some clips
> "What's the deal, man? You know this is worth more."
> Tells me he bought it at a pawn shop for a little more (under 100), it doesn't work, and he's had his fun and can't take it with him.
> Eh, alright. Safe travels and thanks.
> Order new gas valve, oversize

I have had a lot of good deals over the years, cheapest gun I ever bought was a 91/30 that I got back in 1998 for $35 out the door. most recent good deal I got was a carcano m91 rifle for $100 about 3 months ago.

in the fall of 2014, royal tiger imports had a shipment of beat up sks. they were chinese, supposedly by way of albania. for $200 plus $20 shipping, they were advertised as in heavy cosmoline and a possibility of cracked stocks.
i ordered one and got a russian (with the stock in one whole piece). the ONLY component not matching on this rifle is the dust cover, to which there is a speculative story about how someone switched covers along the line to sneak them in. who knows.
not a big money item but a great deal regardless. pic is of said rifle

I was at an estate sale in the middle of no-where by a family that had no fucking idea what the old guy owned. This is what I got. They got their prices via looking up what the gun was (1911, karabiner 98 etc) and just seeing what ANY of them cost, so they would price a vintage 1911 for like some $300 POS rock island, thinking that's just what they go for. I was shitting my pants that I actually stumbled across this situation. These people were anti-gun, really didn't give a shit about them and had no idea that the grandpa even owned them. it was a mother with her two daughters, fag son, and her sister-in-law.

>four Mauser K98's in a box two from 1938, other two 1939 - $80 each, had no fucking clue what these were and I just said I'd take the crate for $80 each, which they were happy about. they thought they were all broken junk because "they're just in some old box"
>two Colt 1911's, 1935/42 - $350 each, probably saw a Rock Island and assumed they were the same things because they looked the same
>1963 Colt Python 6" - $600 (shat my pants, thought it was a fake and they were scamming me or something at this point)
That's the only gun that they had some idea about. Maybe they looked it up and saw one being bid on at ~$600 or something
>1942 Walther PPK - $250, most likely they saw that shitty .22lr PPK/S
>2000 H&K MK23 in the box along with some book about the SEALs - They had no idea what this was and were actually worried that it was an illegal gun because of that Navy SEAL book, and thought it was like some gun only for the military etc. I told them that it was a gun that you would use for self-defense and that's what it was made for(???) and I said that they go for about $400 brand new and that i'd do $250 for myself to use. I made up some bullshit reason about the bore being a bit shitty and used to lower the price, they really didn't care much and I got it. it was brand new and the guy clearly never shot it, just collected cool shit.

>inna Cabela's Gun Library, drooling over the overpriced engraved shotguns
>see '95 Winchester on the floor rack where they put the old milsurp and shit
>zero finish left--gun is full silver colored
>give it a look
>it's a first-model slabside
>.30-40 Krag
>3 digit serial #
>$499.98
Bought it on the spot. Just a slabside *receiver*, much less a whole rifle, is worth at least $2000 in any condition. Turned out it still had a good bore. I also now have the Winchester Archives factory letter supporting its condition, and its estimated value is around $4500

>inna pawn shop
>they advertise on Armslist, had advertised a Remington Model 32 for $899
>go in to look at it
>it's engraved
>it's wearing Krieghoff wood (the Rem 32 patent got bought and became the K32)
>it's a 4-barrel set with Americase aluminum travel case
Bought it on the spot. The wood alone is worth a grand and the engraver that worked on it is fairly famous so the shotgun's worth probably $3000.

>selling range-scavenge brass on Armslist
>guy messages me with a trade offer: A box of 250 no-name commercially cast 9mm bullets and "a bag of random rifle take-off barrels"
>no, take-off barrels usually aren't worth the trouble of transporting them, but I was gonna lay a concrete patio that summer and figured it'd save me like 20 bucks in rebar to use the takeoff barrels as reinforcement, so I say conditionally yes if I get to look them over first
>get to appointed place
>mostly shot-out R700 barrels, but there's seriously like 50 fucking barrels in an old duffel bag
>including 3 Krag-Jorgensen barrels in almost pristine shape
>always wanted a Krag, figured I could build a parts-blaster for cheaper than buying a complete surplus one
>agree to trade
Never ended up building myself a Krag (people want $600+ for just the action) but did end up selling all 3 barrels on Gun Broker for $200 each. So basically a ~$550 cash profit plus getting my patio done sans rebar.

They're around 50-70, depending on where you find them. Also, I might be mistaken, but I think if you put a Mark 23 floorplate on a USP .45 Tactical magazine, I'm pretty sure it accepts those. However, you might as well save the trouble by getting actual Mark 23 mags.

My M44 all-matching. Advertised as 50x on Armslist as $250 + something like 20% for hand-pick fee, I called when they were down to about 10 or so. >he pistol features an unusual "fast action" trigger mechanism which allows the hammer to be decocked while still keeping the mainspring compressed. The "fast action" (also known as Triple Action, and most recently known as Double Action Plus+) mode allows the trigger travel of the double-action mode and the trigger weight of single-action mode. This allows a more accurate first shot due to the lighter weight of the trigger. It is also safer due to the longer trigger travel required to fire the pistol. A light pull on the trigger causes the hammer to flick back, after which the pistol would behave in conventional single-action mode. The pistol can also be fired in traditional double and single-action modes.

This happened in August, 2014

>be me
>in gun show at Trade Center in Norcross
>originally went in to look for a sling for my Finnish Reworked 91/30
>see small table with 2 mosins
>one bubba'd bringback (salvagable though)
>one still in cosmoline with accessories
>ask how much for the bubba rifle (stock was chopped, handguard missing, easy fix)]
>$40
>slam 2 20s on the table at fucking light speed
>ask about brand new one.
>"make an offer"
>I offer $100 for both rifles
>"Sold!"

And that is how I got 2 mosins for 100. The sportered one is a 1936 Izhevsk that I'm convinced is a bringback (no import marks or refurb signs, has the plum patina seen on VN bringback T53s). The one still in the grease is a 1944 Tula MO marked Ex-PU rifle. Has a gorgeous laminate stock and is a wonderful shooter. I rebuilt the alleged bringback and now I keep it alongside my grandpa's Krag, his Luger, and a Nambu T14.

My two big scores over the years have to be my revolvers.
First one was a .357 Mateba Unica 6 with four extra barrels and shrouds for the princely sum of 500. Early enough that it had a compensator that indexes upside down, had to sell it because of exciting medical bills but nowadays LifeSizePotato has it so it's in a good place.

My other one was a Dan Wesson SuperMag for 650. It's an Elgin T. Gates Super Magnum and it came with a Redfield scope and 200 rounds of SuperMag ammo and brass along with load data for the thing. Big stainless 8 incher.

One of my friends is the real winner though, same guy that sold me my .357 Mateba sold him a nickel .44 Mateba for 600. Came in it's original shipping box with hardcase, a 6" and 8" barrel with compensators, and an original manual that is signed on the back by Emilio Ghisoni. Serial number is under 100.

Find ammo for that baby?
>>
>>30197175
Yeah my dad ordered like a bazillion rounds of greek surplus M2 ball. I only put 3 or 4 clips through it...shooting it just felt wrong. Like, it shot great, but i just felt kinda shitty shooting such a classic piece of american history. Like i wanted to pat it on the head and say "sorry for teasing you with bringing you out of retirement, ill put you back in your PJ's and let you go back to sleep now until its time to shoot nazis."

So now i just keep it in the safe with a bandolier of loaded clips ready to go...for what exactly im not sure.
>>
>>30197220
Aww don't be like that to the poor thing.
I'm sure you can find clips at any surplus store you have, they sell them for cheap.
Plus it's nice to bring her out so the old vets at the range can hear that ping.

Oh ive got tons of clips, probably close to 2 dozen or so, like i said i have a surplus bandolier ready to go. Ill be taking it out to shoot with my dad some time soon since he just got his cmp rifle a few months ago.

Also the ranges near me suck donkey balls so i just go to my buddy's property where we have a range set up with all sorts of fun targets. The RO's are not cool at my local ranges.
>>
>>30197279

Well, my best deal was probably my single shot h&r pardner 20ga I got for free. My father my great grandfather and myself were going deer hunting, I was about 9 at the time. We all go over to my grandpa's house one evening about a week or so before the hunt. All the adults are visiting having a good time, when suddenly my grandpa says he has something for me. He goes to the corner of the room and hands me the shotgun, wrapped in a brown canvas gun sock. I cherish that gun. Will give it to my kid someday.
