What are the worst, most cringeworthy and over repeated shooting related stories, phrases or fuddlore?

>.22 is the most deadly round because it bounces around the body

>hurr durr it kicks like a mule

>this rifle can outshoot me! (Like that even means anything)
>>
been watching youtube vids about the Lee Enfield.

Every single video, 90% of the comments are the same story about the germans mistaking it for machinegun fire
>>
>shot to the helmet would still break your neck
>>
>>30187690
There are plenty of rifles that can out shoot people. Are you too autistic to understand that that phrase is someone saying the weapon is capable of doing more than the shooter? I've had several rifles that were able to hold tighter groups than I at that skill level with it.
>>
>>30187690
>kicks like a mule

Second one is true though. If you leave the clip loaded for too long the spring wont function properly.

>>
>>30187790
If you leave it loaded for years on end, possibly.
However constantly depressing and releasing the spring is going to wear on it much much faster than just leaving it depressed.
>>
>>30187781

>this rifle can outshoot me

This. It's one thing to admit that a rifle is capable of better accuracy than the shooter's skill, but when a guy shoots a 20moa group with his Mosin and surplus ammo and then tries to play up the capabilities of the gun by using the phrase "it can outshoot me!" it drives me nuts on the inside.
>>
>>30187799

Firearm is a less scary term for bern victims.
>>
>>30187809
Why?
Don't hate on the gun hate on the faggot that can't shoot.
The MN never wanted to be hailed as a high quality bourgeoisie gun anyways.
>>
>>30187818

Wasn't the Nagant first made in the final decades of the Tsarist regime?
>>
>>30187753
If there is any truth to this story it's probably due to every infantry section having a Bren and carrying it like a rifle.
>>
>>30187818

It's more hating on the slavaboo for convincing himself that the gun would be accurate with the right shooter.

Also when people use the phrase they're implying that being more accurate than them is any kind of accomplishment.

No, the only way to wear out a spring is to compress/depress it. Constant compression won't ruin a spring. However if a mag has weak feed lips they can get warped by the constant pressure of a full mag.

Usually from an old fuck who refuses to acknowlage that pretty much every modern rimfire is safe to dry fire
>>
>>30188038

I prefer the sound of an AK personally.
>>
>>30188020
Doesnt mean it isnt a cringeworthy and overused way of trying to brag about how good your rifle is
>>
>>30188071
Hearing any gun cycle while you are doing something less than legal is scary, I think the whole shotgun thing spawns from the fact that--due to movies--literally everyone knows what a shotgun cycling sounds like. I have no doubt that there plenty of people who would mistake the sound of a semi-auto rifle or pistol locking into... I forgot the fucking word for when the bolt locks into the chamber and is ready to fire. Anyway, I have no doubt someone could mistake that noise for like, a heavy door or some shit.
>>
>>30188041
But you should seriously never dry fire a rimfire repeatedly because it deforms the firing pin and the rim of the chamber, which can cause ftf/f's.
>>
>>30188008
when 90% of successful self defense uses of a gun are "brandishing the weapon", he's right. Odds are multiplied in a home invasion scenario where most assholes do it because they think you aren't home and will run if they find out that you are.

I've been in a skype call with some noguns before, and I racked my AK while talking to them.
They all asked if I just cocked an AK.

It makes a lot more noise than most other rifles.
>>

Fudd guns are often heavy kicking, and the statement is justified. Try shooting your moist nugget, then try shooting a lightweight .30-06 and talking shit.
>>this rifle can outshoot me! (Like that even means anything)
A rifle on a bench, in a vise, at a known distance, that shoots <1 MOA, will not do so when laid across a dead log, innawoods, where the distance is judged by some guy with shitty eyesight who's already been squinting at chipmunks, wind driven branches, and other optical illusions all day. The rifle is entirety capable of dropping the deer thats 130 yards away at a slight down angle; however, the shooter is not. Again, your 5 MOA moist nugget at 50 yards is not a valid point of reference, and the fudd saying is valid.

Shit that drives me mad:
>shotgun's what you need for home defense, since just pumping it will make them shit their pants!
>[that caliber] you really need to aim careful, because it's not that strong, but with [bigger caliber] all you need to do is hit 'em anywhere and they're dead!

Half the people who try to become distance shooters are below average so it is not only possible to not be as accurate as a rifle it's factually correct.

There is no way simo killed as many Russians as they claim. For that to have happened the Russians would have had to lay down and stop fighting. One thing the Russians never did was not charge every threat they faced.
Simo's storys are bullshit propaganda.
Heathcocks numbers are much lower on record than real kills he had. For an American someone had to go and physically look at the kill, men who served with him say his kill count should have been ten or twenty times higher but for the pog bullshit.

First one is true, though. I remember the Leclerc tank commander commenting on it, but the explanation is kinda foggy to me. Think it was something like, it's better to be faster when going back because most of the times a tank even thinks about doing it is when they are under fire, so you need that extra velocity to better evade the enemy shot.

Could be getting the explanation mixed up but it made sense to me.

>Häyhä fought peasants using human-wave tactics
I have a very clear understanding of their very different situations.
What I said was perfectly factual.
If Carlos Heathcock had the same target rich enviroment he would have had a much higher count, even if he was using his favorite bolt action rifle. He rarely had an opportunity to target three and four gooks at the same time, almost ALL of his kills were one target only.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND that difference anon

I'm also saying that I firmly believe Simo's count was greatly exaggerated for the morale of the population.

I'm also saying that Simo's self counting was accepted as God own truth and Heathcock had maybe three hundred kills disallowed because the candy assed pogs in the rear were candy assed pogs assholes.

I don't trust my luck enough to not think some twitchy crackhead won't swing and start shooting at the noise.

I would accuse you of moving goal posts but you are in fact creating such a tiny irrelevant argument that it's meaningless to continue.

A sniper working alone is the same thing now as it was then, one shot one kill from the best cover you can find. At least those perimeters are the same for Simo and Carlos outside of radio info Carlos SOMETIMES had.

>Do you realize how many guns were shooting from/at a particular position at any given time?

Again, not to say I'm the end all be all of information because I'm just one of tens of thousands who fought BUT...
I have been under fire from multiple men using different caliber weapons and I'm telling you that YOU would have the same ability we all found with in ourselves to tell not only what kind of fire we were taking but the quality of the men trying to kill us.
Why is this so hard for you to grasp anon? any combat vet ITT would back me up on this.
>>

The mad minute, a 15rpm firing exercise, was never used to volley fire in WW1. Equating a specific term to general shooting skill is retarded, and you are retarded.

I can also tell if my enemies are aiming at me by looking at the barrels of their guns!"

But that isn't what he said you huge faggot.
He said

>men who understand marksmanship targeting a position.
If you can't tell that difference just from the different gopro footage the goatfuckers post online I don't know what to say to you. When bullets hit the ground and cover around you they are completely noticeable, trust me ...it gets your complete attention and fast.
There is a difference in the impacts made by someone placing well aimed shots, there are actual fucking groupings you can see with your eyes, when someone is just praying and spraying the rounds impact all over the fucking place.
>>
>>30189216
That's categorically not true, unless the entire British emphasis on rapid, accurate fire was bollocks and some sort of made up conspiracy.
I suggest you go do some reading around the subject
>>
>>30189331

So we agree that it's a personal choice then? Excellent.

As far as twitchy crackheads shooting at the noise, two things.
Most of them would have sold that gun for rocks so they are rarely unarmed as most home invaders. The truth about armed home invasions is they are very few and far between, those are planned robberies with an expected outcome of cash and drugs usually.

My opinion is this, if you have lots of cash and even drugs laying around and people know it you had better make god damn sure your home is secure from easy entry.

I'll try one more time.
The single man hiding and sniping didn't change much between Simo's and Carlos's time. The equiptment got more expensive but the rifles never change. The Mosin Simo used was of much better quality than the average russian conscripts, some of use still use that silver tip 7.62x54r...it's exception even by todays standars. I have fired some that was almost 90 years old and it was factory fresh out of the can anon.
The tactics to find prey didn;t change for either of them either other than Carlos sometines had someone whispering in his ear on a radio.

Now just give me a yes or no answer for this. Do you believe Simo had a harder time finding targets that Carlos did?

Go ahead and ask a combat vet if he can tell a large caliber heavy machine gun feels different slamming into cover than a small caliber light machine gun feels.
Then ask that vet is he can tell when rounds fired by a couple of shooters are hitting everywhere randomly is noticably different than a few guys who are purposely targeting the cover you have and see if you get an answer different than I posted.

Carlos has the single highest kill count of any military sniper who severed for any side.
