Anakonda-16 begins today: anakonda dot do dot wp dot mil dot pl/en/index dot html (fucking spam rules)

Bothnia and Torrike are two Northern European countries with territorial claims on Baltic states and are accusing Poland of discriminating bothnian minorities. Since diplomacy didn't work, Bothnia and Torrike entered a military alliance and are preparing for war. It will start with small scale, short, local military operation in Estonia, which is projected to end before other Baltic states have a chance to respond. At the same time Bothnian troops will covertly enter Poland and start a hybrid conflict. Hacker attacks are planned to knock out Polish comms and deny them chance to coordinate their forces.
Bothnians are preparing false flag terrorist attacks in their cities to have cassus belli.
Poland so far responded with CHARLIE and CHARLIE-CPR alert condition. Bothnian citizens are under surveillance. Whereabouts of about 1000 of them aren't known.
Latest developments: Polish border patrol was attacked with automatic fire by a group of civilians near Brześć, attack was repelled. 2 casualties on Polish side, one attacker was killed. He was identified as member of Bothnian Special Forces. At the same time multiple explosions occured in Rzeszów and Sanok. Poland enters state of emergency and asks NATO forces to help. Shit is about to go down
Bothnia and Torrike will fuck Poland's shit up.

Is this a wargame?

Military excercise. Biggest one yet, over 30K troops from like 15 countries.
>>
>>30187279
note they also don't want to trigger russkies, so they limit the exercise.

Noice

I googled a bit and turns out they didn't invent those aggressor countries out of their ass. They exist at least since 2012 as a fictional setting: http://www.jwc.nato.int/images/stories/threeswords/skolkan.pdf

Why is it that modern NATO exercises tend to be rather boring, and all the interesting ones that involve the US are the ones with Worst Korea and Japan?
>>
>>30187344
What would be an interesting NATO exercise? NATO vs Russia?
>>
are Russians mad they didn't get invited to the sleepover?
>>
>>30187390
the exercise is supposedly open to observers, no snugging though. it's meant to be a big "fuck off" sign to russia anyway, so they will be rustled for sure.
>>
>>30187378
NATO exercises are almost always just about policing actions and small scale skirmishes. US-Asian wargames are about these large scale military maneuvers, landings and CAS.

That's far more interesting to see.
>>
>>30187249
You are aware this is all being done just so some commander can have a briefing where he tells the other generals that 'Many Bothinians died to get us this information', right?
>>
>>30187249
Polan deserves rightful Bothnian clay
>>
>>30187452
it wouldn't surprise me if high command commenced operation DEATH STAR 2 after that.

That graph is all kinds of fucked.

It seems to have every large russian exercise (one listed twice with two different values) while a very small segment of other nations.
>>
>>30187446
It's almost as if NATO was preparing itself for latest russian tactics and/or separatist/jihadist insurgencies, Anon...
They can't really simulate all out war with Russia, 'cause Putin is Putin. I guess if there ever were jont NATO-Russia exercises, they would be such big scale.

31.000 soldiers from 24 countries, 3.000 vehicles, 105 planes and helicopters, 12 ships
>>
I have couple of question about NATO flashmobs. How would all 24 members of this motley crew maintain communication with each other in one sandbox?
>inb4 lingua franca
How much English would some Albanian or Portuguese be able to utter? How long into combat before some Dane or Turk retreats to his mother tongue gibberish when there are bullets hissing around his neck? How would alliance maintain discipline and cohesion in ranks during joint multinational operations when it's essentially a Babylonian mess?
>>
>>30187847
I'd guess that beforehand they filtered soldiers and officers to those that can communicate in English well. Falling back to mother-tongue under stress is inevitable and kurwas will fly sooner or later. I guess the fact it's multinational exercise also trains the soldiers to stay focused in such situations and communicate properly. Practice makes perfect, so they'll probably create situations allowing such practice.
They'll probably also have some team-building exercises, etc.
Aren't there also some standard NATO hand signs?

Bothnia will crush you like flies, polish ciurvas.

>>30187521
the gaping disparity in magnitude and speed is present at both individual and allied levels. one would think it would be easier for a group of nations to orchestrate larger exercises than those conducted by a single nation
