is selling your guns for other guns/things taboo on /k/? Should you NEVER sell guns? also if you have, what have you sold and used the money for?

general gun selling story thread I guess
>>
I have sold 4 and I don't regret selling any of them. The $ has gone towards other ones. I have learned what I like and what I don't in the process. I've sold a Ruger Match Champion 357, an SKS, an AR-10, and a benelli nova pump. I'm about to sell two AR15's.
>>
Sold my 6920 for an sr-15 no regrets

I sold two. a S&W 681 after deciding I had enough S&W .357s and I wasn't a fan of stainless steel, and an HK P9S I bought on my very long search for a 9mm pistol I'd actually like

I don't regret either but the P9S was nifty. maybe if I'd figured out how to reduce the trigger overtravel and smooth out the safety and get some wood grips it would have been a keeper, but I like the nines I ended up with much better anyway.

never settle for less than you know it's worth, or trade it in for a tiny amount vs. a new gun....just save up more.

I traded a Saur and Sohn 38h for a Swedish mauser, regretted it ever since
>>
>>30184895
I've sold stuff that I regretted, sold and traded other stuff that I haven't. Made some really good deals on sales and trades, usually part cash part trade.

Most times I have come up with at least my money back and as much as a 3:1 profit. My gun collection has partially paid for itself.
>>
>>30184940
This. As you go you find what you like over what you don't. I sell what I don't like as much to get what I do like.
>>
I traded a 226 in .40 for two browning hi powers. Great trade, I hated that Sig and I love the HP's.
I also traded a 226 in 9mm for a boat and a bottle of scotch (Oban). That was also a great trade, I'm just not a fan of 226's yet I keep acquiring them.
Those are the only guns I've ever gotten rid of.

FPBP

The only guns that I'll never sell are the ones with sentimental value.
>>
>>30184895
I never sell guns unless
>a no guns needs it
>someone else will love it more
>going to a family member
>>
>>30184895
it's fine to sell guns you bought that you never got attached to

it's not fine to sell guns that were gifted to you or inherited, or your first gun
>>
>>30184895

Nope never have and never plan on it, granted, I've only been in the game for 9 or so years.
>>
I have sold a bunch of guns, mostly 22's that I was never going to use. I recently sold a Winchester Model 50 because someone liked it more then I did. I have a No. 4 Mk1* Enfield that I have been thinking about selling since I shoot my No. 1 MkIII* more often anyway

OP here

thanks for the responses. I was thinking about selling my model 10 police trade in and putting the money towards a model 19.

it isnt my first gun, but it is my first revolver. Doesnt hold too much sentimental value, so I think ill do it. thanks everyone.

I just sold my browning buckmark the other day for $250 since it was a jam tasting piece of shit no matter the ammo I used. To a dealer no less. Pretty good given I paid $225 for it used. Well $250 plus a box of 38 special +p hollow points cause I had to do some dealing or I'd feel bad.
>>
>>30184895
If I don't like it, it goes.
In my long history I've only sold a few, notably an FN Forty-Nine pistol in .40SW which had an awful DAO trigger, and a Cobray M11/9, which I just had gotten bored with. Couple cheap revolvers and shotguns have also come and gone.

No sense holding on to a consumer good you don't like, unless there's an incentive(like collectibility) to consider. It's not like if you sell a gun it gets melted down into a statue of Hillary Clinton or something.

now that is a decision you will regret.
just save up for the 19 and you'll have it in its own time. then you'll have two guns with interchangeable holsters, speed loaders, grips, springs, and some other parts.
plus they each have their own charms. a 19 won't completely replace your 10
>>
I sold a Kel-Tec P-11, it kept jamming and I could no longer trust it as a carry peice so it got sold. I've also pawned an AR, fucking fuel pump went out and I needed it fixed asap. I need to go pick that one up.
>>
I wouldn't sell a gun unless it was to a friend who would take care of it.

I think the only exception would be a bad case of buyer's remorse, but in that case I'd try to get a refund.
>>
Yes. I am going to be putting a few up for sale tomorrow to fund a more expensive gun. Super excited about the new gun, though.
>>
>>30184895
Thinking of selling my SD9VE. It was my first real (not black powder) gun, but it's also the gun I least enjoy shooting and I could use the money for stuff for my other guns.

I already went and shot off all 350 remaining rounds I had for it. Literally only have 1 9mm round left, which I found on my floor after I got home from the range.

It's not at all the most fun gun of mine to shoot, but at the same time I feel like I'd really miss it since it was my first.

I could also sell my nugget, but it's also a "first," and I've grown attached to it as a result.
>>
>>30184895
haven't yet. i always said i'd stop at 100 and start switching out then. at 48 now but who knows what will happen.
>>
>>30184895
ive got ~20 firearms and never sold one. i never plan to sell any of the ones i currently own either. i might in the future once i turn 21 and can easily buy handguns.
>>
Should I get a model 19-5? I recently got a Dan Wesson 4 inch Stainless that I love and think the 19 will really be a great addition, it's a pre-lock as well. Is the -5 the worst or anything like that?
>>
>>30186188
No you won't. You would have with rifles by now if you were a normie. Congrats on your addiction, it's the best one to have.
>>
>Dat S&W 66
Funny enough my late father's best friend has be wanting to get me to sell him my dad's old service revolver. (He's not being too pushy, just would like it because it was something of my dad's. And in fact he originally sold it to my father under the stipulation he would one day get it back) It's a 66-1 and i don't think I could ever part with it, even knowing it would be in just as good of hands as mine.
Also in general I never just straight up sell an of my guns. If I get rid of one it's always being traded towards another firearm. I don't necessarily regret letting go of any of them but I do miss my SMLE no 4 and Hi point carbine.
>>
>>30184895
Don't sell, Except to close friends and relatives.
>>
>>30186199
not the worst, just slightly less collector's value than the -4.
the changes to the -5 were no longer pinning the barrels and counterboring the chambers

Well if that's the case you owe it to both of them to follow through.
>>
>>30186314
depends on what was in his father's will. if he gave it to you then it's yours.
>>
>>30185651
Ah, thanks for your insight. You are right. I'll just save up and have 2 classics

My thinking is that you can never have too many guns (assuming you have a place to keep them), but you can have too few.

you can sell any time you want, but good buys are rare and you never find the same deal twice
>>
Sold my first pistol (P07) and first rifle (Waffen Werks 74). I recently bought another P07 for a lot less than I did the first time.

I wouldn't sell any of my guns I have now.
>>
I'd probably never sell any of mine unless times got really hard.

Only one I'd never sell under any circumstance ever is my 1949 Browning 12 gauge my grandpa gave me. Probably my most valuable piece too.

Why wouldn't it be? Might as well ask me if it's OK to ever sell a hammer or a book, it's your property.
Do what you want with it, why do you need the blessing of an anonymous image board? Grow a pair.

Some say it's perfectly fine to sell, others are absolutely autistic in never selling.

I dont know about you but i wouldn't sell anything passed down.

Never thought I'd say it but I might sell my P226 if these E2 grips don't remedy the large grips for me.

good honest wear if I've ever seen it.
happy to hear you treasure it as you should

I bought an LC9 for my first handgun.
I thought it looked cool, and felt comfortable. Then I Bought a Hi Power. Now I don't.

I havent shot it a lot, I'm not very accurate with it and its not as good in my oppinion as my Hi Power. I've considered selling it for a Sheild but I dont know if I should just try and getgud a bit longer or sell it to get my money back.

I honestly feel terrible about it but I sold my first .22 back to my dad and my first shotgun. Now that I look back on it I hate myself for selling the .22 even thought it was wrong handed and a jamOmatic. No regrets about the shotgun, was a maverick 88.
>>
only sell if you dont like what your selling and know you can replace it if you want to. ive sold 5 including my first gun and only regret one.
its odd cause the gun i regret getting rid of should be easy to replace but prices are inflated as shit to the point where i wont bother.
traded a g26 for a 10/22 takedown and 250 bucks. got the 26 for 400. it was like hey a takedown for less than a standard 10/22 costs neat its not like that glock was my only pistol.
then shit happens,22lr spiked in price, and glock changed their finish whoops.
>>
>>30186721
If anything, I'll get a P239. Don't really dig .45 but a 220 would be my first pick if I ever get into the caliber.
>>
>>30186783
they make p220s in 9mm, or at least they used to.
P239 is great too. you ever read or watch Gunslinger Girl? that had a ton of SIGporn
>>
>>30186711
I personally wouldn't sell anything passed down either, but I wouldn't berate someone else for doing it.
>>
>>30184895
If you buy a gun and end up selling it, you fucked up bigtime in most cases. It's more forgivable if it's some generic handgun or sporting rifle/shotgun though. It's harder to get too sentimentally attached, but you still wasted money buying junk you didn't need.
I sold one gun, but it was just a 2nd ruger 10/22 and it went towards a psl. I only got that 2nd 10/22 so I could shoot with any of my friends when I went home on leave.
>>
>>30185998
>pawned an AR

Nigger you should probably get a better job or stop sucking financially before you even think about buying more guns and ammo.
>>
>traded a Judge and cash for a gun
>sold a decent 42 Izzy nugget to a friend cuz I acquired an M39
>sold a M48A to that same friend because I acquired an M48 that had been slightly modified to fit a scope
>trading a little Taurus 380 to that same friend for a Brit 1907 bayonet and some cash

I kind of miss that nugget but oh well. It is what it is.
>>
>>30184895

Sold Gun Collection #1 (about 8 guns) because dumb ass fiancee fucked up and we needed the money. Memorable losses:
>West German P220
>Colt Det Spec
>Muh Hi-power

Sold Gun Collection #2 (about 6 guns) because dumbass wife (same girl) fucked up financially again and we needed the money. Memorable losses:
>Pre-Lock 686
>S&W 4506
>The 10/22 that my anti-gun Dad begrudgingly bought me

Gun Collection #3 (about 90 guns) is still intact except for a few trade ins (dumped all Taurus, and a Sig P232 that slid bit the shit out of me). Also, new wife, has solid money skills.

I've gifted more guns in the last decade than sold. Losing two collections was fucking terrible, and a hell of a "stupid tax" for not realizing wife #1 was shit.
