Hey /K/ I was wondering what would be a good lever action rifle to get my step dad for father's day. He's a fairly big fan of "cowboy" guns and I wanted to surprise him with this. Pic unrelated

Henry golden boy. Pretty, cheap to shoot, and buttery smooth action.

Thank you, I also saw that henry has one called "the big boy" is that just the same as the golden boy but upped to .357 and 44.

They are great too. I personally prefer the 22lr though. 44mag is way too expensive, but the 357 isn't too bad if you use 38s.

I'll look onto it a good bit more, thanks for the help.

Depends on how hard you want to break the bank. I'd recommend the Rossi m92 in .357. It's a fun gun and eats whatever you throw at it, and is still sub $600. If you really want to treat him you could buy the upper tier Henrys, but that's up to you.

what's your budget?
best thing would be a Winchester 1873
next a Uberti copy of the Winchester 1873

there is noting really historical or "cowboy" about that rifle. it just looks old timey and the way the magazine loads is gay. if he's into the old west, get him an 1873 clone.
