This is probably the most realistic depiction of a bear attack in the wild. Every time I've encountered a bear in the wild, they've been running in the other direction at that speed, but the fact is, they run FAST. If one wanted to run toward me, I would barely have time to get off 5 or 6 rounds from my gun, and maybe HOPE that 1 or 2 of those shots connected with the bear's skull or heart.

While I won't argue that larger calibers aren't more effective at stopping bears there are plenty of times where someone didn't need a 20mm anti tank rifle to stop the bear and managed to stop the bear with their 9mm, 45acp, *insert other calibers people say "will just piss a bear off"*. well yea, it really comes down to the shot placement, which is true with anything really.
But you also limit yourself when you choose a smaller caliber that might not have the penetrative power behind it.
I mean, even on humans, a handgun caliber (outside of maybe those big fucking magnum wheelguns) sometimes doesn't even affect them instantly if you didn't hit the CNC.
Now imagine a beast that's way more stronger, heavier, and densely built than the biggest human you can think of.
Add on top of that the stress and pressure and actual time you got to react and put bullets into a moving target with teeth and claws.
I mean, some guy magdumped into a bear with his AK. I'm sure you'd be able to take down a full size Grizzly with a 30 round 9mm glock if you got the time to unload it all into the bear. I don't have a 26 but have a 27, it's built on the same frame. The 29 is just a little bit wider and about 3/4 inch longer. When you hold them you can tell but not really when you carry them. Personally the holster has a lot to do with it.
