/k/nife general 8th edition. Post knives you own, want, or are on the way.

Been away for a while and haven't kept up with these threads, I think the last /ktg/ was #7, I don't have the quote for the old thread.

These threads don't have to be just knives, other bladed tools/weapons welcome.

Posted this in that sword, knives thread but got no response.

What knife would you recommend in the 100-200 dollar price range.

Looking for a blade around three inches in length or under. Lock style doesn't matter, deployment style doesn't matter, and I'm a fan of Spyderco and boker personally. I've looked into a few Spydercos and a couple benchmades, but don't have much experience with higher end ones.

Current edc is a boker rhino, and I wouldn't mind getting something to replace it.

Anyone here have or used an mcusta mc-122? Seems like a damn nice edc/gentleman's knife. Debating between that, a zt 566 and a paramilitary 2.

Any insight is welcome, and I know these knives aren't similar at all.

Nice! Thanks anon, i'm going to check it out. I've been interested in a good drop point for a while now. You know IWB makes a sheath for your knife too, highly recommended.
As an everyday kind of carry i have never found anything like it yet, except maybe the kryptos. Definitely would pick it over a clinch pick, two totally different takes on handles i guess, personally i prefer the rat, it conforms perfectly in every grip.
Honestly, the dregnar is worth it too. I have even subconsciously given it preference over other knives.

Don't bother replacing, you have a fine blade right there. Just give it a new bevel and a sharp edge. The tip will be simple to re-profile.

Great find!
>>
>>30177403
Damn, nice Winklers too! What's the blade on the far right? Looks like another Headhunter Blades knife?

The reason I was looking at the clinch pick is cause I want a small knife I can conceal easily in gym clothes. I know the Rat will do it too, but the price is a little steep for me right now. Also curious about carrying OWB in front of the hips. When I wear button-up shirts, my shoulders are wide compared to the length of my torso, so it's hard to access a knife carried IWB because the shirt is slightly too long and fitted for an easy garment clear. With OWB I'm thinking I won't have to lift the garment as high to clear the end of the handle.

Is that supposed to be a joke?

ZT literally exists solely to place a thin veneer of respectability on what are essentially tacticool mall ninja fantasy knives, and make KAI a boatload of money in the process.

Just look at the hilariously mall ninja limited editions they put out on a regular basis if you don't believe me.
>>
>>30173090
Anyone else think these knife general threads feel different than the ones we used to have? I just feel like the quality has dropped and we get a bunch of shit-tier knives and boring discussions. I can't really put my finger on exactly how it happened though.
>>
>>30179388
I'll have to agree and disagree. Although it's true that their limited editions are wacky, overpriced, and way too tacticool, their normal EDC knives are excellent.

A doctor saw it during a septoplasty. The irony is that the surgeon for the major surgery used most of my septum (closing the void left by the growth, I'm assuming). I don't know how big the encephalocele was but it was significant enough that I had CSF leaking out of my nose for the entire month between the septoplasty and growth removal. I also apparently had a CSF leak a few years back that healed after a month. At the time I just thought it was allergies. In all, I was lucky that it was found and corrected before I had worse symptoms than headaches and constant sinus pressure. Also, here are my Spydies minus the Yojimbo 2 that I got last week.

Your mileage will vary. Some last a fuck ton, and that seems to be the usual stories you'll hear, but others get trashed pretty easily. It's a good field knife, but don't get it if you want a bayonet

Place the blades in vinegar, let it soak, then scrub it with a brillopad. See if that takes care of it.
>>

Heat pure vinegar in the microwave and add a pinch of salt.

Soak the whole thing in there and leave it to rest for a day or two.

That'll do it pretty well.

If you legitimately think carrying a weapon actually makes you less safe than going unarmed, then you need to reconsider why you have weapons at all. All the so called arguments against knives (eg: "He'll take it away and stab you with it!", "nobody wins a knife fight") can be applied to guns as well.
>>

>fun getting culturally enriched in the gaping holes jamal shot up with your own gun.

But I would rather carry a weapon, whether that be a gun or a knife, because guess what? If it starts out on my person or in my hand, I've got better than even odds. Jamal's got to somehow take it away without getting hurt too badly, then he has to try and employ it against me while leaking from whatever holes I've put in him. Your ridiculous "they'll just disarm you!" argument is literally libcuck rhetoric.

You realize this is a physical reality, right? There are documented incidents of injuries that resulted in paralysis because of objects carried in the small of back. This is something commonly known by law enforcement officers and many cops know someone who was injured after a fall backwards by their handcuff case or flashlight. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to tell you that a small, hard object placed right up against a critical part of your anatomy, with little flesh to pad it, is a bad idea.

Karambits are literally meme knives. They're like katanas but worse.

If you want a fighting knife get throwing knives or a bayonet

I understand that karambits can be spun by their finger holes but the tricks are rather limited and don't take much practice. If you're looking for trick knives go for a balisong or throwing knives instead

CQC-7 carving.jpg

>>30201479
Well, chisel ground will do most EDC tasks. There's one complaint with the CQC-7 though - the chisel grind is on the wrong side if you want to do carving. Pic related - with the way the blade is ground, you can't do low-angle, long cuts on wood. Unless you're left-handed.
>>
>>30201479
Well, a chisel grind may be faster to sharpen. Some people think the asymmetrical shape cuts funny but I don't think it really matters. No real difference for any utility work apart from what >>30201538 mentions.
>>
>>30201479
There's only one side to sharpen, so it'll probably be easier to maintain.

Kershaw and CRKT are among the most recommended for nontactical EDC. Spyderco and Benchmade are the more expensive intermediate EDC which walk a line near more tacticool and Cold Steel caters almost exclusively to black and scary but still have a huge collection of solid choices. Ontario Knife Company is also a good choice for budget utility EDC.

Bayonets in general are barely passable as knives. M7s especially are made to stab, not cut

You could use one for outdoors, but you will find it a worse option than knives meant for the job. You also may end up hurting yourself or damaging the knife.

I had a biker(tattoos, leather, etc.) Come into work with a S&W tanto on his belt. I chatted with him about it because in Cook County, IL almost nobody carries a fixed blade because Cook County. Hell, most people not in a trade don't carry a folding knife and are afraid of my Spyderco delica 4 with half serrations or Kershaw with an Emerson. He was a cool dude and by no means a threat, he just looked like a Sons of Anarchy extra and has a scaywee knoyef.

Not five minutes after he left, I get a call from a concerned citizen asking if everything was alright because he was scared of the biker getting stabby or some ignorant nonsense. I laughed. I told him that open carry of fixed knives is completely legal in Cook County and we weren't being robbed or stabbed.

I hate this place so damn much.

That one is better. The one you linked has a 2mm spine, the one I linked has a 3.2mm spine. It comes sharp enough to shave and is a fantastic knife for outdoors.

Thanks family. Just looking for a general purpose, fixed-blade outdoor knife that I can tuck into a plate carrier/duty belt.

BCM has dropped the ball big time in general. Their QC has occasionally been questionable and their CS has gone to shit. Really unfortunate.

Consider spending considerably more on an esee Rat or Ka-bar Becker. Knives for "tactical" use should be beefier than the Mora. A Mora is great for processing wood and light cutting needs(bushcraft stuff) but shouldn't be used to pry, scrape, etc. Not saying the Mora won't fit your needs in that context, but there are better fits.

Seconding this. Moras are cheap throwaway knives where theyre made. 20-50 dollars more can get you a much stouter knife.

Alright I'll keep that in mind. Decent place to start?

Kabar is really just a name now. If you want a combat knife then just stick with that, but if you want an outdoors knife then look into more classic designs

Eh, I could give a fuck who demos the knife. It fits my hand a lot better than most designs and I like the tip orientation. I think I would have been totally satisfied with a TDI Kabar LE knife but my LowVz has been fine and the steel quality is obviously better.

The bk7 is a nice and beefy knife. Personally, I would go for the BK16 or bk2(a 7" blade is a tad much 95% of the time) or the bk14. The bk16 and bk2 are 5" and that is about the sweet spot. The bk2 has a 1/4" spine and is almost a sharpened pry bar.

I have the BK11(same as bk14 with a different handle) and it has served me well with a ~3" blade but the handle is a tad small for a solid grip for harder cuts.

I'm kinda new to these knife threads, but this is some nice information.
I've always trained to use the hammer grip instead of the "saber grip" many "tactical" guys promote on youtube and other forums because of these reasons, it's weaker and it's easier for someone to disarm you.

How did you justify to be carrying these?
