Magpul MBUS Back Up Rear Sight Gen 2

Are they /k/ approved or not good enough for armchair operations ?
>>
MBUS Pro or bust.

I've never used the MBUS pros that the anon above recommended, but I've never had a problem with my normal MBUSs. Can ring steel out to 300yds with them pretty consistently.

For
>armchair operations
I'd say they're more than sufficient.

can a nigga get some more input ?

They work fine and are durable enough (moreso than Troy's metal BUIS, but those are yester-year's news for the most part). Windage knob is an absolute cunt to use due to its stiffness.

I'd still suggest getting a surplus USMC KAC 200-600m rear BUIS off of ebay, though. It's a better rearsight for not much more.

2nd this

Get the stolen valor rear sight, they're awesome for the (ebay) price
>>
They're pretty tough:
http://kitup.military.com/2012/07/back-up-iron-sight-drop-test.html

Lack the quick elevation adjustment of something like the KAC or Matech, but if you plan to just use a battle sight zero it wouldn't matter.
>>
I use milsurp carry handle.
>>
>>30166477
>>30166501
What's a good folding front sight to match the KAC rear? I've been looking for a set don't really like anything I've found. Troy's are the closest but I don't really want to buy them for various reasons.
>>
>>30166538
I'd just get the Mbus pro front
>>
>>30166477
>plastic sights more durable than metal sights

Someone's awfully but hurt over the ruby ridge shit still. Troy's sights are good. Idk any other reputable company that makes sights that lock in the up position and are offered with dual apertures and aren't MIM pieces of crap like the MBUS PRO.

I personally won't buy anything from them again either but all you butthurt people saying "abloo bloo bloo they suck overnight because we disagree with their hiring decisions" are fucking stupid. They're still awesome sights. The company is just fucktarded.

Stay salty.
>and aren't MIM pieces of crap like the MBUS PRO.
Now I know you're just mad. Why anyone would go out of their way to defend such a mediocre product is beyond me, but purchase rationalization is a real bitch of a thing I guess. I don't evne give a shit about their retarded hiring practices, Troy stopped being a relevant name in the AR aftermarket scene long ago and are just coasting on their earlier advances in the field that have been overshadowed by other companies' offerings.
>>
>>30166750
>MIM pieces of crap
Get off the computer grandpa and try not to ever drop your rifle on a hard surface or else your shitty troy sight will shift its POI by three inches
>>
>>30166789
>>30166789
Tell me another sight that locks when flipped up and has a dual aperture rear. And again, no MIM shit please :^)
>>
>>30166750
>b-b-but metal MUST be more durable than plastic!
>what do you MEAN polymer being less rigid lets it flex on impact and keep its original shape
>I don't understand so it must mean you're a shill!!!!
>>
>>30166920
You mean one that's better than the Troy in every way? The MBUS PRO.
>no MIM shit
It's a serious crime you weren't aborted. Maybe rectify that situation yourself?

Seriously, it's a $75 sight, there's no need for you to get super defensive over it and have to resort to senseless fuddisms to make you feel better. I can only imagine what the poor AR it's attached to looks like.

MBUS pros don't LOCK up. You can flip them down with just a little force. Same with KAC's offerings. At least KAC's are aluminum.

Know what else they don't do? Have massive zero shifts when you drop them. Wonder which is a more desirable feature; retaining zero from a typical drop or having a lock-up feature so mouth-breathers don't accidentally apply 10 lbs. of force to knock it down.

Also, how's that suicide sounding?
>>
>>30166986
What they didn't mention on that page but I found elsewhere (on a now dead site, and my link to its archive.gov page is on a now dead computer, so no I'm not going to be able to support this) was that they continued to try seeing what the MBUS would take. They had to finally swing the gun by the end of the barrel to whip the MBUS against a hard surface at speed in order to finally get it to significantly shift.

>same site also had a breakdown of the light and decibels perceived for damn near every flash hider and muzzle brake in an awesome graphic
>>
>>30167007
Jimmy here needs a fucking button to press to fold down his rearsight. Dunno why, if any more force is applied to that Troy sight than is required to make a KAC or Magpul sight fold down, it'll just lose its zero anyways. :^

KAC front
>>
>>30165540
They are the best option for iron sights on a dedicated hard as nails SHTF rifle short of perhaps using a carry handle, and the carry handle precludes easy optic mounting.

They are the cheapest option.
>>
>>30167125
They are the best, because they are the most durable while freely allowing optics. Price is no factor in this.

I have a Troy VTAC Alpha 15' on my rifle that I got ~4 years ago. Any reason to replace it yet?

Since the thread has already gone down hill:
They're still less tough than an Aimpoint. We are long past the point where quality optics are less durable than iron sights. The only reasons to use irons exclusively in current year is being too poor or doing a retro build.
>>
>>30167654
Good thing we are discussing backup irons then, huh?

Hell, they're less tough than some 1-4x variables. In a sense BUIS are a bit silly because of how sturdy modern optics are. Pic related.

Likewise testing for even a budget (Primary Arms) micro red-dot included submersion, freezing, heating, hitting it with a bat like a baseball and shooting it with birdshot and IT STILL WORKED and KEPT ZERO. For a $170 optic that was manufactured in China.

I'm not really worried about my optic being the weakest link these days.

Would getting a KAC rear sight be noticeably better if I kept the normal MBUS front sight? I have a normal set of MBUSs now and I've got no issues with them, but I've always heard good things about the KAC sight. If I only swapped the rear would it make any significant difference or is also putting an MBUS Pro front sight necessary to get the best sight picture?
